Really cool store with a great Carhartt selection in the last couple of months they have added more Carhartt items into the store The staff are 8/10 Francisco is great but there is this one lady that is supper mean and doesn't accept coupons(I have no clue what her name is.). The prices are very reasonable. This is a nice store they are very big and they have a garden center the store is also in Morgan hill the Jonson lumber and nursery. They have a small selection of plants here in Hollister and more in Morgan Hill. The store in 2023 has a lot of Halloween decorations and lights. read more

The cashiers gate keep the Pokémon cards and give you a hard time to bring them out from the backroom. Its most likely they are trying to keep them to buy with their employee discount. Managers should look into this problem it's happened on several occasions. read more

Had a great experience this past week with Jennifer. I was trying to get help finding a product with my husband (I believe a torch that was locked up?) and we kept being told different places it was. Well Jennifer noticed our confusion and jumped in to help even tho I was in the checkout! She halted ringing me up to find someone to take my husband to the proper place and grab the correct item. I was so thankful for her assistance and how understanding and friendly she was. I was ready to give up! I ordered a pellet smoker on line I received a call from the manager that the smoker had been assembled however they noticed a small dent in the metal when they put it together Jesse explained he wanted to notify me and have me come down to look at it He also said if it wasn't too bad to me he could see if Ace online would take some money off To me the dent wasn't too bad and Ace online line gave me a good discount Really like the people at Ace Really nice and helpful I was impressed by they're honesty to make sure i was taken care of read more

I've been a regular customer since 1996, but lately I've been to the store much more often than usual, as we are in the process of giving our home a full renovation. I'm always greeted as I enter, and the employees are always helpful and knowledgeable. Especially a fairly new employee, Jennifer. Yesterday my aunt who is in her late 70's went in and got some chicken feed. She checked out and seen some workers standing around talking. She went up the females and asked for help for lifting the bag. The one female who helped her got all mad and picked up the bag with aggression and attitude. If you don't like helping maybe you girls need a new job. I think Ace needs to step up their service game and teach their workers to be a bit more caring for elderly people. read more

It's ok. They have most of what you're looking for. Employees aren't always sure where items are located when you ask, but they do make the effort to help you find what you're looking for. Check out line can be long at times, since it is the only hardware store in this city. Value? Prices are a bit higher, as they are the only place to go. As this city grows, we could use a larger hardware store, with the ability to offer larger product selection. When looking for something more specific, you need to drive to Gilroy and hit Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

Today I had a return. I walked in and went to the counter at the left, as usual, since I've done several returns and have always been helped at that counter. While waiting, a cashier from across the checkout station hollered out at me "if you have a return you have to go through the line!" So I politely complied and walked through the store, around by the paint department, around the candy aisle, and since NOBODY was in line, was called over to a cash register EIGHT FEET from where I started! I made a comment about being directed around the store to end up almost where I started and the cashier just smiled with a completely blank look on her face as if she saw such idiocy as complete normal. Afterwards, I needed a new hoe and went to that department. Many items were not labeled with a price so I turned to find an employee and THREE employees walked right past me ignoring my need for assistance. This place has gotten truly sad lately. read more

We went there today Jan 22, 2023 as my key fob for my car was broken a very helpful gentleman not only helped us (the wife n I) crack the thing open but also replace the battery as well plus he mentioned they wear out and cost the big bucks so got that to look forward to... but the BEST customer service in Hollister! In fact the Chevy dealership should rip a page outta there playbook! I purchased a fig tree in the past 3 days. Today I went to add one more tree. They had raised the price 7.00 per tree on the same exact shipment!!! Grapevines likewise raised the same. Roses were at $100.00 per rose!!!! Tree roses!!! Absolutely no respect for customers! When these prices are " jacked" they assume we're stupid to there actions!!! My husband and I are doing some home remodeling and we've had quite a few different handyman groups and contractors in our house for the last several weeks. It seems that I have been the one who always gets called upon to run errands and make the trip down to Ace Hardware to pick up materials, parts, etc. I sort of dreaded this at first, but lately I must say that I've been made to feel very comfortable every time I walk into this store because there is ALWAYS at least one (if not more than one) helpful store employee who greets me right when I walk into their front door and they always seem to know exactly what our workers at home are needing. They stay with you until you find everything you need. Shopping is made easy with their helping attitude. Due to their helpfulness, I almost feel like an old pro when I get sent down to Ace. It's like, so what if Lowe's Home Improvement backed out on their earlier expansion plans to build a store in Hollister, right? read more

Perhaps I just ran into the wrong customer service rep but I was guided to him as a seasoned worker who had the vast knowledge and experience to guide me with my small electrical project. Well they were wrong, he was an older guy who has been there for years but always seemed to be grumpy. Awesome selection, lots of additional items since they moved into the larger store across the parking lot (into the old Staple's store). Patio furniture, bbq's, lumber and garden departments are all new. The staff is helpful to the point of being annoying. Lots of young employees who do not have the life experiences or home improvement experience to give advice. It's just too bad that the floor staff is not experienced in home improvements. They know where stuff is, but forget seeking any advice. Dumb looks are still free! I'm glad that I rarely need help, other than locating things in this new, brightly lit store with wide aisles and LOTS OF STUFF !! Just when I knew where everything was, they moved... They have almost everything to make minor home repairs. For larger stuff or huge quantities, you still have to go to the local lumber yard or the BIG ORANGE WAREHOUSE in Gilroy. Their prices are high, but the time and gas savings are a huge offset. read more

I've gone here for ant killer, paint, screws, keys, piping all in the last 3 months and the staff is so friendly and helpful/knowledgeable and they remember you. This is just a great store to go to! i live by true value but i make the drive to ace. they don't have everything so i have to go to the depot but this is my first stop. Just wanted to say Thank You. My wife and I came to your store a couple different times over the weekend. We were there for the motorcycle rally. I had a double sided key made. The gentleman that made it was great. I know your thinking a key! Well yes I have been to a few different store's including Ace and no one had this key and he went right to it. I have never left this store without a part or tool that I needed to finish a job. The men and women that work here are diverse in their knowledge and skill set. If someone can't help you, they find two others in the store that can. Great location and rarely too busy! I don't have and Ace card, they always ask if I do. Great Hometown feeling everyone's always wanted to find something that you can't see as an older person you get lost in the aisles but there is always someone there to help. The manager Vinny is also very courteous and takes care of vets with his discounts and so on. A lady in a hardware store does not do well! Luckily Kevin(coolest sales associate that works there,he reminds me of one of my high school teachers) helped me find the exact screw I needed and now I know the difference between a screw and a bolt lol:) The prices are good but what really stood out to me was the customer service. Okay so I have always been a fan of the ace hardware store but I have to say that since moving to Hollister I love that store. The staff are incredibly friendly there always helpful and now that the store is moving to the old Staple store they say they're going to have a garden department which is going to be credible because her prices are usually the best in town. Finally, I have found a store that has so many things on sale...you got to check out their seasonal sale aisle as they have the best prices for umbrellas, out door furniture and barbecue pits that I have seen anywhere, you wouldn't really expect it but it's true. read more
