Stopped in for a quick Saturday afternoon lunch. As you walk in, you'll find a chalkboard with menus for you to look over. When you're ready, you'll find place your order at the counter, where they give you a number to take to your table. The young woman taking orders was very knowledgeable of the menu, and was able to answer several questions from our group of 4. Drinks as self-serve, with a selection of Pepsi products, tea, water, and coffee. After placing our orders, we found a booth in the back, and in less than 10 minutes, our four entrees were delivered hot and fresh to the table. One thing we noticed, as three of us had ordered dishes with chicken as the main protein, was just how tender and juicy the chicken was, even the tenders. The bowls we ordered (sweet potato fried rice with grilled chicken and crunchy sesame slaw with hot ginger chicken) were amazing balancing acts of flavor and texture. The BLT was simple but fresh, the perfect summer treat! Overall, a casual and laid-back atmosphere with excellent and imaginative dishes. This place has anything that you could want. Diner food to elevated food. Gluten-free options and specialty coffees. We had the pleasure of stopping in here and really enjoying a meal before we went hiking. We talked to Dave and he was very kind and welcoming. We will be back when we're back in the area. read more

Was in town from Cincinnati and stopped in for the Friday fish fry/ bluegrass jam with two other friends. Our meals were so good. Hot as can be, delicious flounder, cod, catfish with hush puppies, fries and slaw. Hearty helpings and kind staff working. It was so relaxing and we were all pleased with our choices. One of the best decisions was the bacon fat chocolate chip cookie. Yea. Amen to that. read more

The food was brought to the table fresh and piping hot. Everything in the order was even better than imagined. Dave is a great host and spent time visiting with us. The bathrooms are amazing and everyone in our party toured both of them. The restaurant began to fill up but we were reluctant to leave. We will definitely return. read more

The opening of Holloway Corner Kitchen has been eagerly awaited by locals since the previous deli and grocery store closed. And, just to add to the hype there were high expectations from the partnership of Head Chef Andy Long (Over Yonder chef-owner) and local musician Dave Brewer. I am very pleased to report that HCK slayed on all fronts. I am very much a menu critic and I can't remember a time where I've seen such a wonderful balance of standards, surprises, vegetarian, healthy and even grab & go options in a completely manageable menu size! The menus lean Southern with an emphasis on Louisiana cuisine. In addition the prices are very reasonable for the area and quality of ingredients. In our beautiful area that caters to leaf peppers, snow seekers and heat escapers there is no dearth of breakfast places and although many are perfectly fine most lack any unique options on their menu. HCK however has got the classics, twists on classic and innovations: biscuit and smoked sausage gravy, biscuit and livermush with SC&O potato chips & ramble sauce (Fosco is for Livers), biscuit with boudin ball (a mix of pork shoulder, chicken liver, rice, and spice stuffed w/ pepper jack cheese and fried in breadcrumbs) & smoked sausage gravy (The Zydeco). And y'all that's just the Biscuit section of the Breakfast Menu! There is still the Burritos, Bowls, Grab & Go and Sides sections of the just the breakfast menu to go! IMO highlights of these sections, in respect: State Champs '78 - eggs, bacon, american cheese, fried chicken, grilled onions and peppers, hashbrown bits, Ramble sauce; Cracklin' - grits, dipped cracklins (dipped in molasses), crispy collards, garlic cheese; Pocket Bacon - A pouch of pepper candy bacon for your all-day snacking needs. The lunch menu is just as great; poboys, buns, wraps, sandwiches, grains, greens, sides, sweets, kids menu & quick bites. We very much enjoyed our blackened chicken Cesar salad wrap that came lightly toasted with cheese on the exterior of the wrap and Lunch Beans - stewed chickpeas with olive oil, tahini, lemon and mint over spinach topped with sesame seeds and served with grilled flatbread. Next visit I'm getting the Mississippi Fried Chicken on a Stick - fried chicken thigh, potatoes, onion, pickles & ramble sauce! But, oh wait, I did see someone very much enjoying their Catfish Poboy... oh I'll bring my husband so we can also get the Cup of Cracklin' with Hot Molasses! We stopped in this morning to get breakfast and the whole experience was great. Food delicious, the coffee was outstanding (so much so we are going to order some for home) the atmosphere was great and the prices were very reasonable. We went for the second time in about 8 months and it was different. My wife's chicken sandwich and you could hardly see the chicken. It was the smallest chicken breast sandwich I had ever seen. I had a burger that was fine but not above average. We probably won't be back. read more

Very rigid and not accommodating. We were there to have breakfast on the weekend when they advertise on the door that breakfast hours are extended an hour until noon. We arrived at 11:20am and they refused to serve us breakfast. They said adamantly that we could not have breakfast. We have eaten lunch there since and the food was mediocre at best. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you and you bus your own table when finished. read more

Good atmosphere. Employees seem happy and were very pleasant. Clean, fun environment. Big stack of pancakes, bacon and coffee was only $10 and delicious!! Love that they keep their coffee cups in a warmer especially on this random snowy day. Will be back to try the biscuits next!! read more

This place was right near where we stayed so we figured we would eat breakfast here one morning. You order at the counter then they bring you your food. Service was pretty good. This place is a winner! We had a wonderful first experience at HCK on our vacation to NC. The menu is brief but interesting with lots of healthy choices as well as Louisiana inspired selections. I had the bean lunch, super tasty! My wife had a shrimp po boy, also great. Lastly the frozen custard may have been the best thing. Try it, not a standard prepackaged mix. read more
