I wandered into this East Dallas Gem a few years back, to date, Carol and her team have managed to salvage and create something new with the pieces I have thrifted here and there. The shop sits at the corner of Ross and Peak in an old building, it reminded me of the creatives I saw as a child back in East Texas, shops that are minimal, no heat no air no costly building. Upon entrance it reminds you of times gone by, the essence of Small Business Owners who have a true passion for what they do and give fair pricing. I have found Carol to be matter-of-fact with NO frills, it's the way I prefer to personally do business. Called then sent email with pictures as requested never got a call back or answer to my email. Either way I would have expected a call back. Upon receiving my review the owners disappointing response was well it probably went to spam basically making excuses. He didn't say he checked his spam he didn't go into his spam to see if my email was there and call me back he simply said well if you want you can text the pictures to this number. (A number I should've been given when I called the first time). I won't be texting him the pictures, I went with somebody else who was much more responsive provided me a number to text upfront and will be doing my work next week. read more

Said one price charged another. She said it was because of labor. We used all of the existing cushions already on the couch. I was going to have a new bench seat but decided against it. It was $175. Carol said she would take it off the bill. When my husband went to pick up the couch she charged us an extra $250. She said it was because of labor and having to pattern match the fabric. My couch is 90" long with two pillow backs, two seat cushions and four 20x20 throw pillows. She needed an extra 10 yards of fabric which brought the total yardage to 29 yards. The couch looks beautiful and she did a great job. I really didnt like the price increase. The price should be the price quoted and I should not have been charged more. read more

I used Holloway's for the first time to recover an overstuffed chair. The manager called me to let me know that a spring was broken and that the stuffing had degraded. After getting my okay, Holloway's redid the spring and stuffing. I was able to use my own fabric. The chair was picked up and returned to me within a week! My one quibble is that when the chair was being picked up, the employee would not listen to me about how to get the chair out of our house without scraping our front door. Thankfully, when the manager called me to say the chair was ready, I told her what had happened and she said she would send 2 people this time. The second person was great - he listened when I said that the furniture had to go through the kitchen door and didn't try to cram the chair through the doorway. He took his time and directed the other guy so that the chair was returned in beautiful condition. read more

I had a sofa upholstered here and am delighted with the results. The piece was very large and a meaningful heirloom so it was important to me that the work be done well. I chose Holloway on the recommendation of friends, and I'm glad that I ignored the negative reviews. Carol was responsive with a quote, but I did experience challenges with having the piece picked up at the agreed-upon times. My impression is that the customers they usually work with have more flexible schedules than mine. Once I spoke with Carol and emphasized that my availability was firm due to work hours she was very apologetic and the team showed up promptly at the rescheduled time. They also delivered it on schedule. My advice - let them know in advance if you don't have wriggle room in your schedule. I provided my own fabric but they accidentally kept my extra fabric, so check to make sure that any additional yardage comes back with your piece if you do the same. Overall, the quality of work greatly outweighed the scheduling complications. They really do great work. I'm planning to have more pieces done here in the next few weeks, so I will update my review. read more

Very disappointed in the quality of their work. I was charged over $1000 extra for 3 down cushions that turned out to be slabs of foam and some Dacron. From what I can tell they could've reused the old cushions, they felt and looked the same. I even gave Carol a picture clearly showing the results I was looking for. The zipper on one of the pillows they did is stuck open because the liner made is too small for the insert and there are so many threads left inside that should've been trimmed, very poor finish out. She does not stand by her work at all. read more

Holloway's reupholstered my dirty, white, Crate & Barrell couch. One of the legs had come off and the cushions were flat. (the couch was FREE from a friend, and I loved it's design, so I decided to put the money into it to keep it). Wellllll....Holloway's did an AMAZING job!!! It's gorgeous! Hollow Ways has exemplified their name to me in every way. They have taken my valid request that they fix what they broke and ignored it. I have never received any follow up other than a threat from their attorney. Sweet. Holloways is lousy. If you are lucky enough not to have a problem, then bully for you. BUT customer aftercare is HUGE and what happens if they screw up? They blame you and do not one iota of a thing to make it right. I'm a project manager, I spreadsheet stuff and work with clients all day long. Customer care should be any companies underpinning to any work or service they perform. Not keeping your customer #1 will mean your company will eventually fail or do poorly. Go some place else. read more

I should've read the reviews before I ordered these chairs and I would've ran. First, these people are rude, so rude, i would never give them a penny. Second I requested custom chairs and they adjusted the dimensions to what they thought they should be, not with the information provided. Carol has been wishy washy with taking care of it. One minute she will cooperate and the next she won't do anything. Regardless, we have emails and the chairs are what they are $2,500 of crap we didn't order. My husband is an attorney so if they do not fix, we will file against them. An update on my review of still dealing with holloways. They have flat out lied and we've had to contact our credit card company to Dispute charges. They said they came to our house during an agreed delivery time and we did not come to the door. That's not close to the truth and thankfully we have our home under video surveillance to prove no one showed up. They also said they called several times again- flat out lie. We've pulled phone records for the credit card company and documented calls. I'd never do business with these incredibly dishonest people. They are terrible and we will fight them tooth and nail. They've kept our deposit and not delivers chairs as promised. Buyer beware- go somewhere else!!!! read more
