Had a couch recovered. It was damaged when it was delivered. They did take it back and try to fix it after repeated requests but the repair was sub par. Now that we have had it a few months the fabric has multiple holes and now a large tear. We do have kids and dogs that can be hard on things but you sneeze on the fabric and it tears. I've had this couch for 30 years and the fabric wasn't in this bad of condition when I sent it to JDH. After 3 weeks it was ruined and just keeps getting worse. Very dissatisfied. read more

My couch cushion is tufted and several of the buttons on my couch had fallen off over time. While I kept some of the buttons that had fallen off, I had also misplaced several of them as well. I attempted going back to Z Gallerie to get the cushion fixed, but they said they couldn't do it since they didn't have the matching fabric. Luckily I found Jim's company, who provided me with a reasonable estimate and said it would not be a problem to match the fabric. Did not have a good experience. Took old mid-century chair to have seat springs rebuilt and recovered. Was provided an estimate and chose the material. Three day turnaround. A week later I called and no progress. JDH did not like my choice of material. Estimate was revised upward about 50% and JDH wanted to use a different material. Finally two weeks later the job was done. When I picked up, the fabric of Jdh choice was apparently of cheap construction. The rebuild of the spring system appears to be poor - it pops and ticks when used. JDH complained that the upholsterer had spent a whole day on the chair. I did not intend to leave a review after the first request. After receiving a second request and still being dissatisfied with the service several months later, I am compelled to leave an honest account of my experience. It appears that my experience is not typical with other customers. read more

Went to the store, show a picture of what I wanted. We discussed my options, and went over a choice of a skirted sofa, or a 2" from the ground. The picture I had showed box legs and the bottom of the sofa was 2 inches from the floor. After several weeks I received the fabric I purchased, and call JDH to come pick the sofa up. I gave them the picture and the fabric. When the sofa was delivered back to me, it was pretty much as specified, however, the bottom of the sofa was 4 inches from the floor with the original legs. (The original sofa was skirted) Not like the picture at all. I was very disappointed. I could have bought several sofa's at a retail store, but did not because most had "stick legs and the bottoms were high off the floor, which I hatel.. I emailed JDH and asked if he could add a border to the bottom to lower the look of the sofa and hide the legs, and how much would it cost, hoping he would fix the mistake they made. They emailed me back, stated it would cost $350 to bring it back to the shop and add a border. I cannot afford another $350.00 so I am stuck with the high off the floor sofa. So disappointed. Told him I would try to find another solution, but actually I have no more funds to spend on this project. read more

JDH Upholstery just "rebuilt" my couch and it's great. The fabric is in good shape, so I didn't need to reupholster. I wasn't sure if the springs could be fixed without reupholstering, but he said it wouldn't be a problem and the upholstery wouldn't be damaged. Between that and new cushion cores, I've got a "like new" couch again. Plus he did it in a week, where other places had quoted me 3-4 week turnaround. Worst customer service. Incredibly disrespectful to me on the phone. They were recovering 2 of my chairs and refinishing the wood. A mistake was made when refinishing the wood. When I asked for this issue to be resolved, I was told I, "would not be getting no damn refund" and it was going to cost me to fix the wood since I was the one unsatisfied, he thought they "looked good." I have never experienced someone so disrespectful. He was literally yelling at me on the phone, would not let me finish a sentence, and did not care that he made a mistake. Sent their crew 3 times to my home to upholster a banquette. Very poor job. Had to redo twice. Finally decided to accept the shabby work so they would not come back to my home. I do not recommend this company for any work at all. My piece has wrinkles all over it, the seams are misaligned and there are big scratches in my wood floor due to staples being dragged around under the piece. Beware. Owner does not call back when contacted. read more
