Organic Veggies! The best in the world!…read more I had opportunity to be given a private tour of their lands and operations on July 13th, 2011. They were currently harvesting turnips and cucumbers. I was able to observe them harvest the turnips then go to the processing plant where they were washing and packaging. The operation was very impressive. The vegetables were gently washed then hand packed in 25 pound bads! The Montecucco Family has been in the farming business for over 110 years! They know what they are doing and their produce shows it! Montecucco parsnips, beets, turnips, cucumbers, and rhubarb are grown locally but shipped globally! Locally you can find them in your local Fred Meyer, Safeway, or fine food distributors. If you are looking to support a local farm, buy Montecucco!

I just got back from my very first trip to Canby, Oregon to discover the beautiful, family-run,…read moreorganic agricultural business of Montecucco Farms. Their fresh, organically grown, meticulously handled, gently washed, hand-packed vegetables are unparalleled. I tasted the beets, parsnips, cucumbers, and green beans. They were fresh and delicious! They also have rutabagas, turnips and rhubarb. I had heard about the fresh produce that the Montecucco's ship globally but to see their farmland at the edge of the Willamette River was a sight to behold. After 114 years in business you can imagine what a well-oiled machine their production process was. Unbelievable! My grandfather grew artichokes and brussel sprouts on the Northern California coast for many, many years and visiting the Montecucco Family's Farm reminded me of how important it is to support a long-standing and respected family run farm business by purchasing their produce, telling your community to also do so, and asking your grocer to buy from them. It's the American way. If we don't do this, there will be no active family farmland left. Three cheers for Montecucco Farms!

Upgrading my review - it's really a great place for berries. We came on opening day today for…read moreu-pick strawberries and it was amazing. Fields were filled with ripe berries, each row was well maintained with hay and no weeds, and the prices were reasonable ($2.50 per pound). We loaded up on Hoods, which were super tasty. We'll be back!

If you want to be treated well, do not go to this farm…read more Went berry picking with the family as we do every year. I go to check in and the guy saw we have the same baskets (from Hoffman) and asked if we want more. We said sure and he threw a basket at us. We asked if there was anything we needed to know. Guy said "nope, you are all good" Go berry picking. See there are rows with orange fencing, which means do not pick here. Pretty obvious. There are blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, marion berries, tay berries, etc. Went to pick blueberries (please mind you, not fenced off) and after getting almost a whole bucket of beautiful blueberries, grandpa on the train honked and screamed at me "NO BLUEBERRIES. NOT OPEN" to which I asked how would I know? He threw his had at me and didn't answer. I didn't understand. Maybe he thought the check in told us not to pick blueberries? But the guy didn't. Thought they were fenced off? I don't know. Pretty odd to be screaming at a customer and not answer them back. We have been going to Hoffman for forever but will be going to another farm due to poor treatment to paying customers. (I have inserted a picture of a sign that says "u-pick fields are closed" at the beginning of the sign, which would mean u-pick is closed? No sign or rope on the other side of field. Sign is easy to miss and if you cannot read English, not obvious that those rows are closed) (Inserted checkin table that does not state anything about what berries are closed) Berries are good. Only reason for 2 stars otherwise 1.

Yelp is a community of eaters and a resource on finding food…read more Tri-County Farm is a community of farmers and a resource for eaters finding u-pick and farm stand food. Over 6o family farms in Washington, Clackamas and Multnomah Countes have banded together to publicize what is in-season by month along with directions to their farms. This has been going on for many years, graduating from paper you could pick up at food coops to a website today. You can start your planning with their season guide: https://www.tricountyfarm.org/season_guide.php. Exact dates will vary with the weather in a given year. Then you can search by the food you want: meats, fruits, vegies, herbs, flowers and even children's activities: https://www.tricountyfarm.org/all_products.php. Or if you are out in the country looking for a farm stand you can use their map, then select a farm and see what hours they are scheduled to be open, and what farm goods they have: https://www.tricountyfarm.org/map.php They list children's activities like hay rides, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and petting zoos. Portland has a lovely and well developed farmer market system throughout the neighborhoods. Many local markets have local producer fairs like People's Coop and Zupans. And local markets are always glad to point out local products. We have regional wholesaler Organically Grown which is a huge farmers' produce coop. It was started by hippies in Eugene and 40 years later operates warehouses in Portland, Seattle and Spokane with annual sales of greater than $150 million. But if you want to visit the farm and buy direct, Tri County Farm is the Yelp of farms open to the public!
