If you're looking for a solid caterer in the Piedmont Triad region, I recommend Pepper Moon. Pepper Moon catered heavy hors d'oeuvres at the event. It was a simple setup: one long self-serve buffet of small bites. No passed trays, action stations, or anything like that. For us, it got the job done. From what I recall, we had teriyaki chicken skewers with sweet chili sauce, meatballs with marinara, biscuits (I think they were cheddar biscuits), black bean cakes with a yogurt sauce; a cubed cheese display with cheddar, Swiss, and pepper jack cheeses, grapes, berries, and assorted crackers; and a fresh fruit display with cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, grapes, and berries. There may have been a dessert/sweet as well, but I don't remember. We had a special reunion cake, but I'm not sure if it was provided by Pepper Moon. Just under 100 guests were expected, but only about half that showed up, so we had a lot of leftovers. There were boxes for us to take leftovers home. In general, the menu served was safe with several crowd-pleasers. My wife really enjoyed the food and went back for seconds. Her favorites were the meatballs (soft and moist) and black bean cakes. My go-to was the teriyaki chicken skewers. The chicken was tender and appetizing and I've been a fan of that sweet Thai chili sauce for chicken since I was little. There was a cash bar for drinks. I'm not sure if that was Pepper Moon, Congdon Yards, or another vendor. The Pepper Moon staff were formally dressed (the event was dressy casual), polite, and attentive. One of the employees was very nice to me and really made sure I was taken care of as I made my way down the buffet line the first time. I think they were expecting more guests, so they may have been a bit overstaffed. Whatever the case, they did a good job. Pepper Moon's offices and facilities building is located just south of the airport on the Greensboro-High Point city border.

They said the portions were only good for about 15 to 20 people but we had tons of leftovers, including prime rib, the portions were very generous. I have had the worst experience with this catering company. They were one of two caterers to choose…read morefrom with my all inclusive package I had with my venue. I called in July to book a tasting and had it scheduled for the end of the month. I spoke with a gentleman and went over the menu options and we chose what items we wanted for the tasting. The week before the tasting, I called to confirm the time and thank goodness I did because they had no record of our appointment at all. So I had to reschedule it, for September! Then the lady I spoke with sent me a completely different menu of items to choose from for the tasting, so we had to make all new selections. They also offered us the choice of downgrading from using real china to plastic plates and utensils to include an appetizer to our package. Turns out, when I spoke to the venue, they weren't allowed to do that and they were trying to take business away from the rental company for the dishes to put more money from our package and apply it to their company instead. A week after I spoke with the venue about it, they sent me an email saying they were no longer working with Culinary Visions, but if we still wanted to use them as our caterer, they would honor that since it was offered when we signed our contract. Two weeks later, 4 days before my tasting is scheduled with Culinary Visions, they email me and tell me that my appointment has been cancelled because they are no longer doing business with my venue. They are completely unorganized and unprofessional. I am glad that I went with a different catering company.

The one that caught my eye was the library. It had a fireplace which added a warm feeling to the dimly lit room. There was also a separate dining area by the front of the house sporting more antique furniture and a fireplace. As we toured the house we went upstairs where all the bedrooms were. Each had their own charm. I expect those rooms were for changing areas for wedding parties. The mansion is mostly used for wedding events.
