This is a review from an older visit. I ate there back in November of 2022. Things might have changed, but I doubt it. I happened to drive by this place a couple of weeks ago and I flashed back to the one time that I visited. The memory that came to mind was a positive one. It's been almost four years and I can still remember what I ate, because it was that good. From what I remember, the service is kind of a high school lunchroom type where you go through and pick out the food that you want. Then you grab a table with your food. From what I remember, the place was clean, quiet, and very family friendly. I wouldn't have a problem taking anything from a date to a newborn baby here. I will admit that I have particularly fond memories of this place that might be skewing my review just a tad. But either way, I will make an effort to go back there the next time I'm anywhere close to Conway. read more

Awesome as ALWAYS! Can't get through Conway, AR on a weekday between 11-2pm w/o stopping in for some of the best country vittles in the state. Is a country joint, w/everyone just stuffing their face so it stays pretty quiet. This place is so good I am just thankful I don't live in Conway or I would weight 400lbs from eating here every single day. And make room for some of that pie!!! Staff were super friendly and happy. We came in just before closing so fried chicken was limited, but all sides were pretty full. It's in the name! Good country cooking! The dining room needs updating, but I can tell it's pretty high traffic place, so that comes with the territory. Went there with an older gentleman who lives near by and we were still eating past closing time. They didn't bother us and were still very kind. Stop by if you've never tried this place. read more

Tucked away on the side of Harkrider this place is only open for lunch during the week, but this beautiful young lady has a winner here. You don't go here for the ambiance or the service ( it's cafeteria style) but is clean and always busy. You go to Holly's for the great southern comfort food. The servings are large and lots of choices. Deserts are made in house and delicious. Line at noon is always long but worth the wait. read more

This is a wonderful cafeteria style lunch place that must have Ben founded by a group of those little ole grannies that can cook!! Fabulous southern cooking that has large portions to be worth what you're paying for lunch. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Only negatives that I could find: 1. Parking has small parking spaces and not enough parking. ( they might need to consider demolishing some of the neighboring businesses and make them into parking lots. 2. Not enough seating. This place is only open on weekdays for lunch. It gets crowded. So be prepared for a wait and a seat. BUT SOOOO WORTH IT!! 3. They are only open for lunches on weekdays. I'd heard great things and wanted to give it a try, so today was my day! In a nutshell, Holly's got a pretty good Southern situation going on! A friend and I stopped in for an early lunch to beat the crowd as I've heard the wait gets brutal up in there! We definitely beat the lunch rush, our wait was minimal, and the selection was plentiful. I decided on a friend chicken drumstick, and sides of macaroni and cheese and collard greens. They were good, not great, but good! I made the mistake of walking in with a somewhat "soul food" expectation... not to be confused with "Southern food". The taste, flavors, and textures are quite different. Once I saw the options, I re-centered my focus (so I could be fair and objective) and enjoyed a good, Southern meal! My friend had country fried steak and hash brown casserole ... Get my drift in the marked difference. The star of the show for me was the fried chicken (has a familiar flavor that I liked) followed by the collard greens. The mac and cheese (usually always my #1 favorite) was a bit disappointing as the creamy texture without real cheese stringing in every other fork-full was a let down. But again, this is southern not soul, so I got over it! The sweet tea was a winner, and Holly was friendly and efficient in her service at the register! You won't find better southern food in Conway, that's for sure. There are some better options in LR, in my opinion, but I'm not sure the difference is so significant that it warrants the extra drive (for most people). I rarely order anything but the chicken-fried steak because they do such a good job with it. In this town, that's difficult to find. Most places have a flavor less batter with an extremely tough cut of beef. Holly's prepared a well-seasoned batter and a tender (or tenderized) beef cut. All of the sides are solid. This place is legit. The service is very friendly and kind. I placed a large to go order and they seemed more than happy to make it for me. The food was delicious. Much better than Cracker Barrel. I tried the Fried Chicken, Chicken n Dumplings, fried potatoes and mac n cheese. It was all top notch, probably the best I've ever had. The pinnacle of our meal was the Lemon Meringue pie. Ah, Holly's. The one place in Conway where you can drown your sorrows or celebrate your successes in southern food that is piled so high, it will be falling off your plate. Holly's is a local food joint that has select hours, M-F 11am-2pm. I would suggest getting there right at 11, the line gets LONG after that. Oh and you guessed it, the owners name is Holly and you can usually catch her working any time you come in-she is always so sweet! The setup of this place is lunch line style and your mouth will probably be watering while waiting to get close and make your food decisions. I decided to go with boneless fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, fried potatoes, and jalapeño cornbread. My personal fav is the mac and cheese, it is just so creamy and delicious! Let's just say, I've never had anything here that I don't like. You will find a wide variety of people eating here, all with one thing in common, they can't resist this place. Okay, let's be real, they're only open 5 days a week for 4 hours. AND they're still in business...it's got to be THAT good right? YES. If you're in the mood for some southern cooking that's home made tasting. THIS is the place. As a college student this is the place where I go when I want real food other than campus food. If you like down-home, county cooking this is the place to go. I've been three times and it has been outstanding every time. It is cafeteria style, so you point out what you want as you go through the line and they pile it on your plate. And when I say "pile", I mean pile. I have struggled to finish my plate every time. On my Southern tour I have had some pretty good home-cooking but Holly's has got to rate up there with mama's cookin'. The place in jumping at 11 a.m. til they close at 2 p.m. with cafeteria style dining. There's a different selection of meats (sorry, vegans and vegetarians are S.O.L.) and choices of sides. I had the fried chicken and it was crisp and tender...mashed potatoes, turnip greens and an iceberg lettuce salad rounded out my meal. If there's one drawback, it was a bit on the salty side. The pies are killer good. It ran me $9.00 along with my tea...It's not they type of fare I'd eat everyday but it definitely brought back memories of growing up in the South. read more

Lots of people rave about this blue-plate style diner. However, I have found the food to be simply okay at best. The fried chicken I had was just decent, and I did not like the meatloaf at all.
