She really cares about your satisfaction, and she won't let you go without making sure you are 100% happy with your hair. She knows how to do her job very well, and she is so friendly. I am a little shy, but I felt like she was an old friend after a few minutes, and we talked the whole time I was there. Sue is such a sweet lady! I wish I lived in Pennsylvania still, but I'll just have to keep coming up to visit my parents (and Sue!) to get my hair done. Get Sue to do your hair!! You will not regret it :) And Amanda has the fingers of a goddess when she washes my hair. I wish she could do it every day! She is adorable and so sweet, friendly, courteous, etc. The Salon itself is very beautiful. It doesn't seem very large, but I think that makes it very intimate feeling. I showed her a couple pictures and she said it would be no problem with my curly hair. Tara cut off a good amount of hair and then to my surprise she straightened it. I never ever straighten my hair. It's a very nice cut and she styled it beautifully. I told her I would never straighten my hair myself and she said it would be just as nice curly (and much easier). She was right. I washed my hair and styled it curly and I love it! I would definitely recommend this salon, and Tara. My whole experience was wonderful and I will definitely be back! Thanks Tara!

I have been following this place for the years since it opened and its rave reviews but somehow I never made it here as I was stuck in the rut of "State-Street-in -Media -only" hairdressing. There's approximately 11 salons on that street and small side streets so that is the area in Western Delaware County where everybody goes. State Street is the happening place to go to get your hair done. Chrome isn't within the downtown area per se but on the outskirts out by the Media bypass. And this is one of the reasons why I jumped out of my comfort zone and gave it a shot because they have their own parking lot and that's worth it's weight in gold instead of driving around for 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot in busy Downtown Media. That's where the differences end. This salon is just as active, vibrant ,upbeat and in tune with current styles and products as all those overpriced State Street salons. I tend to only want to stay with hairdressers for about five years so I was looking for somebody new and I selected SHERI M. I was not disappointed. She spent her time looking at my hair and the suggestions she had were great. This was indicative of her vast experience as a hairdresser. She has a true "feel "for her clients. The first time I went she cut my hair and I was very happy with it so I scheduled a foil touchup three weeks later. I was beyond happy with how I looked after I left there. When she found that I sometimes like to go to bed with my hair damp because it comes out wavy and curly in the morning, she suggested a product to put in before bedtime that would keep the curls intact but eliminate the frizz that has seemed to have developed in my hair in the last year. I love that this is a family owned and run salon. I hadn't met the owners but I met a man there recently who was doing shampooing who was somehow related to the family and he gave me the history of how Chrome came about. It was also interesting to hear that they had recently started their own hairdressing Academy. All in all you'll get a great feel for Chrome and enjoy your experience there. I know I'll certainly be back.

And inside it is SPACIOUS, with numerous different rooms... which means they are set-up really well for distancing. (I was impressed.) The one thing to be careful about is your exit. If you need to make a left turn across Baltimore Pike and if traffic is busy, I recommend you go right instead and do a u-turn at the first traffic light. (Much easier and safer.) (I go to Chrome for Mag. I'm a fan of hers. She's good at cutting curly/wild hair.)

Went in for an inverted bob, and the girl tried and tried, blow dried my hair curly to try to hide the bad cut. I had her straighten my hair then asked her twice to fix it and she kept trying. Eventually asking a more senior stylist to show her how to do the cut. By then they had already closed and was told to give it a night and call them the next day if I still wasn't happy. Of course, I got sick that night with bronchitis and eventually spent 2 weeks in the hospital and have only been back in the world a week and half. Today I straightened my hair for first time since getting sick, and ugh. It's still bad. Called them. They gave me a date for today to come in and fix it, then called to cancel cause the stylists didn't feel comfortable doing a redo cut. They asked me to come tomorrow. I am working this weekend and told them I'm off Tuesday. To which they said "not sure what you want us to do" smh. I then asked the owner, Tell, to call me. He wasn't much help either. Basically saying, tough luck you got sick and now time has lapsed so we can't fix it. Incredibly disheartening that a business owner would be so hard up for money vs taking into account that someone was really ill and was in no position to be calling hair salons or even going in! I asked for a long layered V cut in the back but the haircut looked like a U and it was extremely choppy. Never once did she show me the back or asked if I liked it. I was being gaslighted by the other hairstylists as if it was an amazing job. It was my fault that I was being nice about it but it turns out she was extremely inexperienced and most likely did not have a hair license. The other employees were joking about a cosmetology inspection and Julia having to go back to being a shampoo girl. Next was the hair dye, and I wanted gray dye with shadow roots. I totally understood if she could not do it and I communicated that, but she said it was okay but it would be a 2 day process because I have some red dyes. (The red dyes were not bright, it was more burgundy by the way) I went along with it because she was supposed to be the professional. After the 5-hour ordeal, the hair color ended up being dark brown/gray but it faded into a light blonde somehow. I called back to request a different hair stylist/colorist and to voice my concerns but the person dismissed my issues and said I could come in on my preferred day. Then, immediately HUNG UP ON ME. Wow! Not once did she ask what was wrong. What kind of place are they running? Anyone who is interested in this place, please do your due diligence and research your hairstylist and/or colorist. It seems as though they are throwing just anyone at the station and I felt completely taken advantage of as a person of color who has long, thick hair. I don't understand how a salon could operate this way. Never going to recommend anyone here who has textured hair.
