There are two AMC theaters in the Oakbrook mall. This is on the lower level and doesn't have many screens in it. Park in the orange parking garage. More of an issue with AMC but they advertise on Tuesdays a $5 popcorn and soda combo but they didn't have it and wouldn't honor it! I showed them it on their website and they just said "yeah corporate does that but we don't have a button for it. It's a temporary deal that comes and goes." Then why is it currently on AMC's website like it's always a thing? You would think the theater would just honor it or escalate to corporate if it is bad advertising. read more

Okay, sometimes I complain about little things, but I think there's a principle involved. I went to AMC Oakbrook 4 today and saw a movie. My daughter has some membership there, so she got a free small popcorn. The popcorn turned out to be stale and lackluster. Afterwards, I went to the counter with the small bag still full, and told them about this, asking for some fresh popcorn. I was told by a manager that this was their "ranch popcorn" that they gave out for the coupons and it was prepackaged. They could not substitute the regular fresh popcorn for it which he called "Gourmet Popcorn". So, popcorn being incredibly cheap in the first place, a manager could not see the benefit of having a happy customer over an unhappy one. Nice theatre, but it is the smallest AMC I have ever seen. I believe there are only three movie rooms. Pros It has a full bar, traditional concession stand and freestyle Coca Cola machines. The reclining seats which are assigned are very comfortable. You can purchase tickets on Fandango. Upon arrival, there are both computer kiosks and representatives available for your convenience. Cons Finding the theatre is a bit of a hassle. There are no signs and it is not visible from the exterior perimeter of the shopping center. **It is located near the Orange Parking Garage. read more

We had such a great time at this location! I haven't been to an AMC in years and I'm happy to say that I was very pleased with this location. We went late and the concession stand was closing. This location is hard to find and doesn't have great air conditioning. The seats are a lot smaller than other AMC locations. Additionally, a worker interrupted our movie TWICE. They entered the back of the theater and were opening closet doors and what looked to be like restocking supplies? I could not believe they did it during the movie, let alone TWICE. Unbelievable. Then, we were interrupted a third time when a family walked into the theater and talked during the movie. Why is this type of behavior allowed? We will not return to this location. read more

The experience I had here is why I will continue to wait for the movie to be released in streaming so I can watch it in my clean home and make my own snacks so I can have them before the movie starts. It would have been great if there was better signage to the theater for those of us that did not use the parking decks. So many people confused outside in the cold. We all figured it out but the mall or AMC needs to step up the game slightly. Theaters were somewhat trashed. Did not seem like there was a lot of staff on duty. Could have been an off night. Soda machines were a disaster. Two out of three were out of ice and one had bad vanilla coke. I like that I can pre-buy tickets and select seats at home before I go to the theater. Tried to purchase tickets online for scream and kept being prompted to join membership and there was no way around that. So tried calling theater to confirm I could buy tickets there; called 6 times with no answer and also called the oakbrook 12 location no answer. Seen the movie time was 5pm when me and my guests got there the movie time had been pushed to a earlier time and was told all these things were happening because of the Batman ticket purchase release. So we missed 20 mins of the movie due to the fact they pushed the time ahead within less than 2 hours of a movie. This was super frustrating on my end because I made sure that I was there in time to view the movie at the beginning. I would like this to be made right because I was celebrating my birthday early with few of my family members and I was super disappointed in this whole experience and my seat was defective and would go up and down occasionally. We went to a 6:00 show last night. There was no one at the front booth, only a kiosk to purchase or print tickets. When we walked into the lobby, there were no workers either. Someone came out after a few minutes. The theater itself was clean and comfortable. When the movie was over, there again was no one in the lobby. After a restroom stop - restroom needed attention - there again was no one in lobby. We didn't see a single theater employee after the show. The more I think about the lack of theater staff, the more it bothers me. Safety and security are very important, this theater is definitely lacking that. We won't be back. read more

This theater is fine. It's the older of the 2 at this mall and has 4 theaters vs. 12 at the other. We were there this afternoon and it was so dirty and sticky by the soft drink area. This is really a 3.5 star review - I decided to round up. Online ticket purchasing and seat selection was easy, and the prices were fine. The theater is hard to locate unless you're intimately familiar with Oakbrook Mall and maybe not the easiest choice if your sole purpose is seeing a movie. If you're shopping and need a break - this is a great choice. Once you arrive, the ticket kiosks are front and center. The easiest way to get your tickets currently is to swipe the credit card you used online. Your tickets will print from the kiosk. Confusingly, there was no ticket agent anywhere to collect tickets. No big deal from a consumer perspective though. The actual auditorium was nice. All the seats recline (the black button to recline is next to the middle of your outer thigh). They are a bit narrow for recliners, but comfy. Sight lines were good. According to my date, the women's restroom was disgusting, so that should be addressed by management. Otherwise, a good choice once you locate it. read more

Oakbrook Center has 2 AMC theaters. One is gigantic with a huge AMC logo on it and signs all over directing you to it. THIS is not it! That is Oakbrook 12. This theater is impossible to find and with no directions available. To the point that we had to call the theater while circling the mall on a Friday night to ask for directions. For the record, park in the orange parking deck. You will want to go to level 1. The theater is hidden back between stores and near a Subway. This AMC was the closest theater to us that was playing Manchester by the Sea so I knew we didn't have many choices beyond the aforementioned and after 3 weeks my boyfriend finally capitulated to my desire to see the film. We ordered our tickets on line. It was pretty nice that you can reserve your seats. We knew that we wouldn't end up having to race in with him rushing to the snack bar to get my popcorn and I racing to get seats that aren't in the front row. This alone is a huge bonus! Once we arrive, we find that they have a full bar. I am not talking about some basic booze, wine, and a couple beers on tap. They offered a huge variety of liquor. I even noticed some Patrón and Grey Goose while I waited for my popcorn! We also got a few warm snacks and soda. For a Friday night, they should have had more than one kid working. The kid couldn't remember what we ordered and we almost didn't get our popcorn. The strange part was that I didn't want a copy of my receipt when I paid as I find them to just be a waste. When they didn't give us our popcorn, someone else was working and we simply said "We haven't received our large popcorn." "Oh. Here you go!" I guess when they are busy we can just ask for whatever we want? The theater itself was really nice. The aisles were really large to accommodate the reclining seats. This was a nice touch. Because the aisles were so wide, I didn't feel uncomfortable placing my personal items against the seat in front of me so that I could comfortably utilize the power recliner. If only they provided blankets... If you plan on going to Oakbrook 4, consider packing a blanket and/or pillow. The chairs are comfy and you might as well make the experience worth it. Super comfy recliner chairs with a motorized reclining feature, matinee tickets (thru fandango) were in the $8 range, which wasn't bad! It's a small theatre, but it's nice and clean inside. The seat selection feature is nice too, guaranteeing you to sit where you want to sit, or be able to pick another movie if they don't have a suitable option for you. Bathrooms were clean too. They serve beer and wine here, all food was expensive though, so I can only imagine the liquor prices, but it's all on par with all the other expensive food items at other movie theaters I check out. This is totally my go to theater now. Just opened a few months ago, but already we check here before anywhere else. Yes, it is teeny tiny, and it is also super duper secret and hidden but that's exactly why we like it! It is an introvert's heaven. If you're a fan of the new AMC design (aka super plush reclining loveseats and improved concessions), you should like this theater. Granted, they only have 4 screens, so their movie offerings are more limited. BUT...they only have 4 screens...so you won't walk into a crowd of 1,000 giggling teenagers upon entry, like you do when you head to the AMC Yorktown 17 down the street. If we want to see a new release, we always go here, avoid the crowds, and take advantage of the cheap matinees. You do have to choose your seats when you buy your tickets, so we generally purchase in advance from Fandango to ensure we get the seats we want. To address the secret location, which other reviewers have also noted: yes, it is a little tricky to find. You can park at the Orange garage and you'll find it across from Baisi Thai and Subway. Or, you if you're already walking the mall, it's super easy. You simply head over to Antico Posto restaurant and you'll see an outdoor stairway in the corner. Head down the steps and turn right. Straight ahead, you'll see Platforms 9 and 10. Run straight at the wall between them, and voila! You're at the AMC Oak Brook. Enjoy your show! read more

My buddy, Brande O. and I have basically founded our entire friendship on disliking everything the other person likes Statler and Waldorf-style, so truly it should come as no surprise to her that I'm not a fan of her most favorite movie theatre in the whole wide area. Admittedly, I love me some new AMC theatre concept. And when I found out there was a lil' baby one happening in Oakbrook Center I was pretty jazzed. But it has a few things working against it. First, parking at Oakbrook Center is always a downright bitch. I mean, seriously, sometimes you have to park clear on the opposite side of the mall to where you're actually trying to get to. And unless you're a nazi about getting in those 10,000 steps each day then maybe you want to find a theater with a bit better parking solution. Y'know, like near it. I know I don't tend to get to the movies too much before the show starts, so I like to sneak in quickly. But here you kinda have to plan for that extra walking to the car. Second? You buy your tickets online (or at least I did) and then you get a handy QR code on your phone, but you still have to have the guy at the ticket window scan your phone which seems like an added and unnecessary step. At the AMC Yorktown they just scan it on your way in and let you through. Here the guy actually took my phone, scanned it and printed me regular tickets. I hate when people take my phone, because DON'T TOUCH MY STUFF! Third, the ticket-taker dude was totally off his game. I breezed right past his little podium and he ran after us for the tickets. He was a lil' irked by this. Yo, you weren't there, dude. Bruh, do you even ticket? Finally we got to our seats and they felt somehow smaller and more cramped than what I've become accustomed to at Yorktown. There are no fancy tables beside you and no nifty trays that swivel around in front of you. These are just regular sized seats that happen to recline. It felt much less private too. Finally, the screen and picture weren't as sharp as Yorktown. I was really surprised to hear that this theater once existed at another time, and AMC basically remodeled it and fashioned it with their fancy recliners and that was it. Did it just sit dark for years and get forgotten? I dunno. Basically, the moral of my story is this. Drive a few extra miles and go to the Yorktown theater. This one just isn't worth the hassle to me. read more

It's back! The theater is now an AMC. Basically, it's the same old crappy theater but with new chairs. The first problem is that it's difficult to find. There are NO signs anywhere in the mall or in the parking garage to let you know where it is. We were in the right garage but walked out on the wrong side. Park in the orange parking garage and the theater is near Basai Thai. There was one person at the ticket counter and a bunch of people in line. There were a few kiosks where you could get tickets if you purchased them online. The kiosks are difficult to use. It wouldn't scan my barcode and I got an error every time I swiped my card. It seemed everyone was having the same problem so the one ticket person slowed everything down. I've been to the remodeled Yorktown theater which is really nice. This one is nothing like it. The picture quality is horrible and the seats, although they are recliners, are narrow and close together. I won't go to this theater again because the parking is a hassle and I prefer a quality premium theater. read more

This place is a little gem. A little hard to find... But just remember that it's next to The Container Store. We've always purchased or tickets beforehand and used the kiosk to print them. Hey I have NEVER seen this theater and have been to OB Mall like a million times, at least! It's downstairs like on the ground level, behind Mario Tricocci. It's right off the orange parking lot you enter over between the Professional building and Nordstrom. If you pay attention, you'll find it no problemo. Literally the only people in this theater in the early evening on a weekday. Service was great, though limited. All you really get is someone to sell you popcorn and a drink, and let's face it what else do you need? Nada! Clean, quiet. read more

Be cautious on seeing 3D movies at this location. I notice that they reuse other peoples glasses. Im use to getting them sealed in their plastic pouch but at this location they are on a rack and used by other people. Came here for the second time this weekend. First was to watch Black Panther. This weekend...to watch Infinity War. I like that it's reserved seating. I'm too old and too impatient to be dealing with first come first served standing in line and being knocked out the way to get the best seats. I pay online. Choose my seats and that's that. The tickets are available via email and text messages. I also like the recliner seats. It really does make the movie an enjoyable experience when you can lean back and relax. I do think AMC needs to do a better job with identifying which theater is which when you're trying to choose a theater. It's buried in the fine print how to get to this one so make sure you know how to get to AMC 4 and not AMC 12. Overall I'm sure I'll back again. read more

I travel all the way from the northside of chicago just to go to this theater , I love the comfy recliners and the bartender always knows how to make my mojito just right. This theaters atmosphere is always warm and cozy. My advice plan ahead and order your tickets online as they usually sell out the good seats fast. read more

This theater isn't very big and like everyone said, it would have been a little difficult to find if I hadn't been following someone, but the pluses out-way the minuses. First thing - similar to dine-in theaters or theaters with reclining seats - you can pick your own seats for this theater. This is always a bonus. And the seats had a wide aisle in front of them, so you could use the recliner and kick back to relax. The only negative was there was no tray table for your foods, so I had to keep my nachos on my lap. There is a very small counter area between seats where you could set things, though. And compared to AMC Yorktown's fancy foods menu - this theater had more what I consider theater food - nachos, pizza, popcorn with different flavored toppings, candy, chicken fingers, pretzels and all different sizes for popcorn and drinks. I know that AMC Yorktown renovated their menu, but I haven't been back there since they did that, so I can't exactly compare their new menu to Oak Brook's menu, but I know I liked OB's menu. Although the prices were extremely high. Chicken fingers, fries and a drink was a combo meal for $17. My order of nachos and a drink was just over $12. Bring your gold card... And buy discount movie tickets from somewhere, then you won't need to sell your firstborn as well. They do have the Freestyle Coke machine, so that lessened the sting of the high prices, a little. This probably isn't good for the theater, but when we went to see Magic Mike last night, we were the only three people in the theater. This was nice as it allowed us to chat amongst ourselves about the hotties up on screen. The theater itself was pretty small especially now that all chairs are recliners. Not alot of people can fit in one theater. Staff was friendly at the ticket counters and the concession stands. Good place to go if you don't want to deal with the crowds at some of the other theaters. Just leave breadcrumbs on your way in, so you can find your way back to your car! read more

Awful! I'll never be back. They turned off the A/C near the beginning of our movie (9:30pm show) in the dead of summer on the hottest day of the year. Absolutely miserable and so sweaty. I went out and asked an employee, and she said there was nothing she could do, and "at this point it's too late to make it cooler before the movie ends." Unacceptable!
