I still had a limp with stiffness in the knee joint after sitting for long periods of time. I figured that's just the way I would be for the rest of my life. I started experiencing pain in my right knee several weeks ago that started to impact walking. I was limping more severe and in pain. I found PDX Bodyworks though Yelp. Shawn squeezed me in for a same day appointment the day I called and managed to figure out rather quickly that my SI joint was the culprit in my knee pain as my hips were not aligned. A quick adjustment and most of the new pain in my right knee was gone! Shawn taught me how to adjust my SI joint myself and I made a follow up appointment the following week with Greg. I've been going in for physical therapy once a week for the past 4 weeks and I'm feeling significantly better and moving better than I have in awhile. I felt like my first bout of PT didn't address some of the structural issues I was having and focused mostly on strength. My old PT had told me that there would always be some level of pain. Shawn & Greg at PDX Bodyworks have given me tools (stretches, adjustments, exercises, etc.) to address the source of the pain as well as the confidence that I can get back to my original post-surgery level of fitness without hurting myself. I highly recommend PDX Bodyworks and am so grateful for their help!

I scheduled an appointment with Shawn and Greg that day. Best decision I couldn't done to start the healing process on the right track. I also was seeking out alternative therapies during this process. Shawn and Greg were the impetus in getting me on the right track. Without them, this process of pain would've been lingering, or even escalating, for a very very long time. I now recommend my clients to see these two professionals. It worked for me, so I hope it works for my clients also dealing with similar pain. Thank you Shawn and Greg for making my life sustainable again!

She loves working with musicians and also has a specialty with lymphedema. Hope helped me solve a tricky foot injury - i seem to have sprained a ligament between my metatarsal and my tarsals. I went to several overwise-talented practitioners who weren't able to help me, and I just wasn't healing after 2 months til I started seeing Hope. She was thorough and precise in her assessment. She taught me how to tape up my foot to prevent the movement that was aggravating it. And the exercises she gave me clearly are helping. http://hamptonphysiotherapy.com/

She is an outstanding physical therapist that knows her limits and gets results. As an aging amateur athlete, I've had a number of maladies that have been treated by P.T.'s over the years. I've had the good fortune to be treated by some outstanding therapists, often clinic directors. As a technician, Hope is equal to the best the profession has to offer. There is one opinion I'll offer about Hope that distinguishes her from other medical professionals. She has innate ability that cannot be explained or trained. When it comes to treating a patient, Hope is equally artisan and technician. I think of her as a healer. Maybe I should refer to her as virtuoso too? More thoughts about Hope: ..Listens carefully as you describe symptoms, hopes, and goals. ..Carefully evaluates your injury. ..Communicates effectively with the ability to minimize medical jargon. ..Sets realistic expectations for what might be achieved with effort. ..Prescribes a reasonable regimen of exercises, stretches, nerve glides, taping, & icing. ..Keeps the patient informed as she moves your body during treatment. ..Continuously evaluates the injury and adjusts her approach. ..If circumstances lead your effort to falter awhile, she's not judgmental. ..Offers encouragement and adjusts activities if treatment progress slows. ..Empathetic ..Effective ..Modest If you are considering treatment by Hope, I recommend her whole heartedly.

From the beginning, communication was a nightmare. When I first called to schedule an appointment, I asked what I would pay for a typical PT visit. They collected all my insurance information, and I was told their insurance person was out and would get back to me the next day. She didn't. A week went by, and I still hadn't heard anything, so I had to call them myself. They still weren't sure what my cost would be. I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me, but they never did, so I had to keep calling for answers. On multiple separate occasions, I was verbally told my appointment would cost no more than $70. The day of my appointment, I called again and was told they needed my insurance information, despite already providing it. I gave it to them again and was told someone would get back to me shortly. Since my appointment was that day, I explained that I needed an answer within the hour so I could decide whether to attend. Again, no one called me back. As I was getting ready to leave, I called them myself for an update and was once again told the cost would be $70. I arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told at the front desk that my appointment had been canceled. When I asked why, considering I had spoken with someone less than 30 minutes earlier, no one could explain what happened. "Luckily," the physical therapist I was supposed to see still had availability, so they told me to go ahead with the appointment and complete the paperwork afterward. Because of their miscommunication, they weren't prepared for me until about five minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. While I waited, I could hear three front-desk employees discussing each other, other employees, and the office's lack of communication. It honestly explained everything. Before starting my appointment, I triple-checked that my cost would not be more than $70, and I was explicitly guaranteed that it would not be. I specifically asked multiple times because I wanted to be sure what I would be paying. The physical therapy appointment itself was fine. I have no complaints about the therapist personally. I left feeling relatively positive despite the chaos and even scheduled several additional weekly appointments. Then came the next week. Less than an hour before my second appointment, they called me. This was the only time throughout this entire process that the office proactively contacted me. The person handling insurance informed me that my appointments would actually cost $239.15. I was understandably furious. I explained that I had been told multiple separate times that my cost would be no more than $70. I tried very hard to resolve the situation and avoid having to pay the additional $169.15, but I was told there was no way around it. They weren't sure who had given me the incorrect information and said the issue was ultimately between me and my insurance. I understand that insurance is complicated and mistakes happen. What I don't understand is how I can provide my insurance information, repeatedly ask what I will owe, have to repeatedly call because they don't follow up, and then be verbally assured multiple times that my cost will be no more than $70--only to be told an hour before my next appointment that I owe an additional $169.15 for my previous appointment. I was also told that because I had signed the paperwork, I was responsible for the charge. The problem is that I signed the paperwork after my first appointment, after I had already been given the $70 estimate multiple times and proceeded based on that information. I ultimately paid the bill because I was told there was no other option, but I do not feel this was handled fairly. I tried very hard to avoid paying that amount and tried to resolve it with them, but they refused to take responsibility for repeatedly telling me my cost would not exceed $70. I canceled all my remaining appointments. The physical therapists may be good at what they do, but the administrative and customer service side of this office is incredibly poorly managed. The repeated misinformation, failure to follow up, constant need for me to call for answers, last-minute cancellation, and surprise bill were completely unacceptable. I genuinely feel bad for the therapists because the front office is doing them a huge disservice. Their communication and billing practices are turning away customers who otherwise may have continued treatment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

But through Dr. Amelia's treatment plan he has not only eliminated surgery but has even begun running again. (Something he never thought possible.) She has flexible hours and I never have to wait to book an appointment when I am in pain, as she blocks off time for urgent care needs. I highly recommend her.

They gave me no homework or exercises to help but just kept telling me to come back next week. I saw no improvement so I stopped going. Then I got a bill which was nearly $700! I called the "head office" and they said if I had paid out of pocket I would have saved $200+. I took things into my own hands and found that pilates, a foam roller and deep stretching of my calf muscles did the trick.
