Kevin and Brian were able to resolve a number of issues for me over several months: - Hand pain while biking and while typing. - Knee pain while biking and while sitting. - Headaches related to computer use and ergonomics. - Back pain related to computer use and ergonomics. - Extremely poor ankle mobility. Something I especially appreciated is that on top of treating you, they educate you as well. This has been really helpful to me. I feel like I understand why the things I've done have caused pain and why various stretches and exercises mitigate that pain. It's the old "teach a man to fish" thing. Now that I "know how to fish", I'm well positioned to avoid hurting myself in the future and to make various tweaks to the stretches and exercises to help me get the results I want. I feel a little silly acknowledging this now, but before going to Pedal PT I thought that the various forms of pain I was experiencing while biking or doing computer work were "just part of getting older" and "something I just need to deal with". I understand now that this is not the case. Small adjustments to your bike or to the ergonomics of your computer usage will often make the discomfort go away. And if not, there are usually stretches and exercises you could do to heal. As someone who bikes everywhere and uses a computer 10+ hours a day, I am extremely glad that I took the time to address the issues I was having, and I'm extremely grateful to Pedal PT for their help. read more

I had been given a referral for physical therapy by an orthopedic surgeon to strengthen my knee. I chose Pedal PT because it was close to home. After 7 weeks of working with Ish and diligently doing the exercises he prescribed, I not only have seen a major improvement in my knee strength but my hip and lower back pain from a previous accident at work benefited from the exercises as well. Absolutely invaluable! I was training for my 4th AIDS/Lifecycle ride from SF to LA when I started getting pronounced knee pain after 30-40 miles. I knew well enough to get my bike fitting checked immediately. PedalPT has professionally trained physical therapists who are also bike fanatics at the ready for the task. They took precise measurements and worked with me to get my bike where it needed to be. And, after a couple weeks of riding, I was able to return to 'fine tune' the fitting based on real-world feedback on the road. I initially found Pedal PT while in search of a good bike fit. The fitters at Pedal PT have the rare combination of real medical training and extensive experience riding, commuting with, and racing bikes. The fit I received transformed my biking experience, taking my road bike from agonizing to bearable and almost comfy. Unexpectedly, the improved fit also increased my power and stamina on the bike. I was so impressed with my fitter (shout out to Ish) that I signed on to also begin PT on some lingering issues. I achieved better results with Pedal PT that either of my past therapists, and Ish patiently explained everything to me and answered my questions. When I had an unexpected fracture, we immediately switched geared and Ish helped me to full a recovery. Nicole, at the front desk, is likewise professional, friendly, and helpful. Scheduling, rescheduling, and billing were always easy. Overall, I had a great experience. I would especially recommend Pedal PT if you have sports injuries or ride a bike, but honestly I would recommend them to anyone who needs PT. Pedal PT was a fantastic resource in helping me get me back on my bike and towards long term recovery from chronic imbalances and injury. I had a great bike fitting with Kevin initially, and then followed up with several PT sessions with Ish. Both were excellent. I especially appreciate the care Ish exhibited in listening and discussing my unique issues and helping me better understand the nature of chronic pain. In my experience, sometimes just getting a better understanding of what's going on in a body can help speed up recovery and put my mind at ease. I'm a little late in this review but I had an appointment here for a bike fit a few months ago with Maggie and she was awesome! She really helped explain what was going on with my body and adjusted my bike accordingly, as well as giving me so very useful tips on how to pedal more efficiently. She took her time and made sure I understood the changes she was making and I felt like she really listened to what I was saying about the pain I was experiencing. Pedal PT has gone above and beyond all expectations for a physical therapy office. I came here in the fall for a hamstring injury that I had been dealing with for six months. Kevin got me in on a same day appointment! I was able to get the information I needed to begin the proper healing for my injury. Luckily I only needed to attend PT for about a month for this injury. This latest round of PT was my second experience with Kevin, and it couldn't have gone better. Back in 2011 I was hit by a car while riding my bike. I was referred to Kevin by my chiropractor and Kevin was instrumental in my rehab. This time, I had some shoulder pain that was inhibiting my climbing, bike riding... even opening doors could hurt. Kevin correctly diagnosed it as bicep tendinitis and gave me some exercises that helped me get back to climbing. I had also thrown out my back, so Kevin was happy to help me get that under wraps too. Kevin is simply the best (actually more than that, a wizard perhaps). I had a back issue for seven years that was so bad that at times I could not ride in a car or sleep in a bed. I tried everything: Orthopedists, spine specialists, various prescriptions, acupuncture, chiropractors, cortisol injections, multiple rounds of physical therapy with at least 3 other providers. All of these only provided limited relief. And then about four years ago, I was fortunate to find Kevin. During our first appointment, Kevin did something that no one else really did. He asked a ton of questions and really listened. He must have interviewed me for about 30 minutes. By the end, he had found the issue that everyone else had missed. The problem was not being caused by a disc issue, but by a rotated pelvis pressing into the lower spine. He did some magical adjusting, and in just 10 minutes I felt incredibly better--after dealing with this pain for seven years! Over the next few months, Kevin helped me strengthen my core to keep everything where it is supposed to be. Now I just need to see Kevin every six months or so for a tune up. And I am able to do everything I want (e.g., basketball, etc.) with no pain. Since then, I have sent probably a dozen people to see Kevin. And everyone has raved about the care he provides. Kevin was recommended to my by my primary care physician and so far it has been going great. I'm talking about a noticeable difference in how I felt after each time I went in. My range of motion keeps improving and my total pain level is even starting to go down. I have had a lingering shoulder injury for the past 5 months that another PT was unable to do much with despite his best efforts. Kevin was very clear with his goals and how he planned to accomplish them. It is still a bit surprising that things are going as well as they are, but I am hopeful things will keep continuing to improve! I learned quickly that to recuperate from a total knee replacement, you need a team. Kevin and Ish were fantastic from day one to "graduation" day 12 weeks later. They were my team. Kevin has been instrumental in helping me to continue working toward my fitness goals. I came to his office with a pinched nerve in my shoulder and a lot of pain and tingling down my arm. Thanks to his expertise in isolating the area in need of rehabilitation and providing me with exercises and stretches I could perform on my own at home, I was able to continue my Muay Thai kickboxing with a very short downtime. Additionally, I have since seen Kevin for a bike fit and cannot stress how much this made a difference in both my ability to ride longer and SO MUCH more comfortably. The way my bike was adjusted before had me putting a lot more effort into my rides for a lot less distance and a lot less power. I did a bike fit, then I mainly saw Ish (Istvan) for chronic neck pain (exacerbated by biking, but not caused by it). He was very thorough, patient, & detailed - in explaining/showing me exactly what to do in exercises, in telling me what he was doing and why during treatments, & thinking through which exercises were most important given lack of time. I saw saw Maggie several times too - also thorough, patient & detailed. Both Ish & Maggie were a pleasure to work with - Nicole the receptionist was also. I originally met Kevin when he came to my workplace for bike fittings. He was so helpful with that, I scheduled an appointment to see him for a torn shoulder capsule. He have me several good exercises, and was great about modifying exercises for my body type and abilities. I am still doing the exercises, and am recovering well from the injury. Kevin also helped me with my tight IT bands, which was not at all related to the shoulder, but WOW! What a difference! I am sure I've prevented some kind of injury there with these exercises. I was thrilled at the progress I was making with each appointment because of the exercises he provided based off my ability and recovery. I would give Pedal PT 100 stars if I could. A few years ago, I was having some terrible low back pain. I felt the pain weekly and it hurt to move. Ish (Ishtvan) helped me learn about my pain and taught me how to move again. My back pain was preventing me from lifting weights. I was able to start lifting heavy weights again after I worked with Ish to address my pain. I have been lifting heavy weights for over 1.5 years now and I just dead lifted 190 pounds for multiple sets. Physical therapy works and Ish and Kevin are awesome. I recently went back to address some lingering pain from a sprained ankle. Same experience - 100/100 Stars! read more

I was recommended to Pedal PT after I broke my wrist while commuting to work. Although the break was minor, my mobility was poor after being wrapped in a hard cast for 6 weeks. After working with Ish for a few weeks, my strength and mobility got much, much better. He also took the time to explain the science behind each exercise and stretch. The sessions were ~1hour long and you get devoted 1-on-1 time the entire duration. I would highly recommend this group for physical therapy or bike fitting (which insurance covers in some cases). I came for a bike fitting, not for PT. I got a new bike and wasn't loving riding it, and my husband, who had recently had the same thing happen to him, recommended I go to Pedal PT for a bike fitting. While some may balk at $125 for bike adjustments, many of them micro adjustments, he spent an hour dialing in my bike perfectly to my body and discovering small errors in my riding form that were causing me to have a less than stellar riding experience. Now I love my bike and will have him fit me to any bike I ever own. Small problems in your bike fit can add up to lots of discomfort over time- I really feel more people would be riding more often if they had their bikes precisely adjusted to their bodies. I am SO glad I found Pedal PT! I had been struggling with the limiting after-effects of an ankle sprain for 7 months, and wondering if my range-of-motion would ever be normal again. I had a podiatrist tell me I might need surgery for a minor chip of my Talus, but otherwise he offered no advice. After only a few treatments with Kevin, not only do I have my range-of-motion back, but I've been running and hiking with confidence. It was so nice to go to someone who knows a ton about the foot and ankle, and could easily see where the joint was out of place- and knew simple moves to correct it. Pedal PT is amazing! I was a full-time bike commuter until about a year ago when I started encountering some shoulder pain after rides. It turned out to be a shoulder impingement issue. I had tried everything I could think of short of surgery when a friend recommended Pedal PT. I worked with Ish for most of my treatments (although I was impressed at how easily the staff supported and covered for each other when I needed to switch for a week). After the first week or two of appointments and home exercises I started noticing significant improvements. They also did a bike fit as part of my treatment which helped identify and correct some issues with my bike that were making things worse. After six weeks I was back on the bike again and well on my way to a full recovery after a year of not being able to ride at all. Kevin helped me recover from years of migraines associated with tension in my neck and upper back. It was clear to me that Kevin knows his stuff. In the first couple of visits I had a much better understanding of what was going on and some helpful exercises that provided some relief. The next few visits we steadily whittled down the problem. I like that Kevin includes me in the healing process - when he didn't know exactly what was going on he would just say so, list the possibilities and we would try different approaches together. After about a dozen visits my symptoms were almost gone, and for the past 4 or so weeks I haven't had a single migraine. My injuries were not directly related to biking and I haven't (yet) had Kevin do a bike fitting. However, it's clear to me that Kevin runs a very bike friendly business. You can bring your bike in and park it in the indoor racks (Kevin and the other employees may or may not oggle it). I called Pedal PT this morning after 'hurting my back and not being able to breathe well' during a work out. I was able to talk to Dr. Stout who instantly reassured me that I wasn't dying (it's scary when it hurts to breathe!) and that he could make time to see me today.
