My first experience with this transit center was met with homeless sitting on the stairs asking for change as well as a significantly late max train. My second experience was met with many more homeless in the area, sleeping on the street corners and preparing signs for the day. You have to take stairs up and down, which is frustrating when taking multiple bags to and from the airport. This station has nothing on Beaverton Transit Center. It is in a convenient location, but I'll only be using it when absolutely necessary.

I was able to book reservations online for their November open house weekend dates and we also joined some walk-ins so I think they may be a little flexible. They offered some history brochures as well as a scavenger hunt. There is a step ledge available along most of the gallery area for people of any height to enjoy. We probably spent a good 45 minutes admiring the details and could have easily stayed longer if we were truly dedicated to the scavenger hunt portion. The spot is small and can feel crowded in some moments. Would highly recommend wearing a mask since the open house is during cold and flu season and they keep the building quite cozy and warm. Free parking in their small lot and the OHSU Dental Offices next door. This is not a complaint at all but it would have been so cool if the place was bigger to enjoy even longer!

Wow! We visited during the CGMRC open house and it was incredible!!…read more Fun for kids and adults and anyone with even the mildest interest in model trains. Really neat to see miniaturized versions of old Portland, the Gorge, and train yards. The scavenger hunt was so fun and makes you realize the amount of time and energy they've put into constructing the sets. Contrary to other reviewers' comments, the club members were happy to offer information (and provide scavenger hunt clues). There were probably two dozen guys in headsets working behind the scenes (literally) driving the trains around and conducting the "weather" and sunrises/sunsets. For all I could tell, they were not selling tickets at the door; we'd bought ours the month before. Also not too crowded inside, but you won't have the best time if you don't like crowds. Many people in masks, which was reassuring. At the end before the exit there are bathrooms and a gift shop! T-shirts, old model trains and set equipment, and little trinkets like pins. (Check out the Oregon Field Guide episode for a preview!)

After much finding in the Portland metro area, we were SO HAPPY to stumble upon Intrepid. We go 2-3x a week for our schedules. The owners Ruth and Sean put in a tremendous amount of effort ensuring that every experience you have seems like you're a new client, when you show up each and every time, whether or not you've been going there for years or days. I appreciate the fact that they don't assume you just know everything and they really provide COACHING rather than passive guidance. They know each and every persons strength and weaknesses, and make everyone feel comfortable. I am also always astonished by the variety in the workouts, and all the coaches really provide great instruction, whether it's Ruth and Sean, the owners, or the other two coaches, everyone's amazing. You should come to Intrepid if you're looking for community as well. Everyone let's you be who you are but there's always opportunities to have pot lucks, celebrate people, and have fun during class or after class. Just come as you are, and at at whatever fitness level, you will be really glad you stepped into Intrepid. You'll never leave.

To me, there are "focus areas" for any gym business. Possible Priorities: 1. Member Safety 2. Quality Coaching 3. Business Process management 3a. Member confidentiality 3b. Staff management 4. Investment in new coaching skills and equipment 5. Quality Review and Continuous Improvement My "positive" experience at Intrepid relates to my multiple drop-in visits while in town on business. On each of my visits, I was received professionally and politely each time. My biggest concern, and gripe relates to an early November 2018 incident, where one of their staff sent out a "survey" to current and past members. Intrepid PDX openly published my email address to almost 700 people - instead of hiding it in a BCC to protect my privacy. I have followed up multiple times to the originator of the survey without response - or an apology. I've also requested my name be removed from Intrepid's database, and my request was also ignored. When I'm visiting Portland on business, I have several choices for CrossFit - and I was hoping Intrepid would be my gym-away-from-home. But I won't be back. While mistakes happen, I've reached out three times to the staff member and ownership to share my concerns and didn't receive a response. "Just remove my name and personal data from your database - if you cannot manage my personal information with discretion." That's all I can ask at this point - because your staff member already broadcast my email address to 700+ people. Oh, and she also broadcast the email addresses of every current and past customer I might add (Yikes!). Generally, from my experience, the customer list of any business is a sacred asset to be protected. I wonder, if I were to post the survey originator's email address here ... perhaps then she'll grasp the importance of privacy. Or at least be courteous enough to admit the mistake and remove my contact information from Intrepid's database.

In addition to clothes, they have books, toys, shoes, and even some movie DVDs. The tiny store is well organized. Recently, the customer experience has shifted in a way that feels noticeably less accommodating and more rigid. On one visit, I arrived just a few minutes past the posted consignment drop-off time--with a large bag of items--and was turned away without any flexibility. As a mom juggling kids and schedules, that kind of all-or-nothing response felt unnecessarily inflexible and not very aligned with the realities of the customers they serve. There was also a separate incident involving an item that was handled in a way that felt lacking in communication and follow-through, which added to the overall frustration. As someone who works in sales and customer service, I fully understand the importance of policies--but also the importance of discretion, tone, and making customers feel valued. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my recent experience. I hope there's a return to the more customer-focused experience this store used to provide.
