I do not recommend this place to anyone. I took my Volvo there to install a new set of Catalytic converters. They said they could do it after hours as a cash job. They charged me 280$ to install it (fair price) but they did not install it completely. They left 2 bolt holes open on the rear flange. They said it didn't leak, it does! I drove a 12 hour road trip the next day and i had to do the entire thing with the window open in a snowstorm because of the exhaust fumes in the cabin. I tried calling them. No response. I tried going to the shop. They set up a time for me. But when I arrived no one was there. I've spent almost a month trying to get these guys to just fix the mistake they made. But I give up. Completely unresponsive and unreliable. read more

Messed up a simple repair on my son's Acura for a rubbing noise. After a week of waiting, they claimed the A/C compressor was the problem. After changing the compressor, the noise persisted. They then said the noise was coming from a failed differential bearing. Took it to another shop who found the problem was just a loose heat shield on the exhaust. Simple fix. read more

Mike does great work at fair prices. The Audi dealer quoted me $2,100 to replace an airbag control module. As I shopped around I found I could get this done for $1,100 at a non dealer garage. Mike was able to get this done for $356 in labor with a used part off ebay for $37. $393 compared to $1,100! Mike is my new go to guy on Audi's! If you need any electronic work done on expensive German imports, Mike is your guy. He also fixed my radio while he had the car and did not charge me for that. read more

I SO wanted to give these guys a great review but I can't. Our 2010 Forester threw a rod back in June and we had it towed to Holman, a local shop with a good reputation. We knew that the vehicle would be rendered useless if we didn't replace the engine, so we opted for a low mileage used engine imported from Japan. Except that we didn't get that. Our mechanic let it slip that they used a rebuilt engine, shipped in from California. I don't immediately consider that to be a major issue except that we had to bring it back numerous times to remedy a stubborn "check engine light" that stayed on. Holman had our Forester for a total of about SIX weeks, until late October when we moved out of the area. We were both working full time jobs, which made it difficult to be without a vehicle for so long. We never received an actual itemized list of what they tried, other than an occasional verbal one. They did seem frustrated with the situation too, but unable to solve the issue. We brought the vehicle to a shop in our new town that dug deeper and found bad components in the rebuilt engine. They were replaced with OEM parts and, five months after the original incident, we are finally CEL free! read more

I took my 2004 BMW to Holmans for the first time about 2 years ago. I gotta say this business is a true rarity! The owner, Mike Holman, really knows all cars very well (I also have a 2008 Volvo). He only fixes what is wrong-there is no upselling or attempts to overcharge. In general his prices are far cheaper than the dealers and he is extremely competitve with other independent shops in the south metro. More than that I really like Mike as a mechanic because he is always helpful when I am in a jam. He diagnoses over the phone on occasion and makes sure my car is running safely. He is also pretty funny and seems to enjoy his customers when he has a minute to chat-which is really rare because he is constantly busy. I highly recommend this honest and hard working guy. Warning! This was our horrendous experience with Mike Holman: We brought the car in at the end of August and didn't get it back until about 2 months later after being promised on numerous occasions that the car was ready. And the job still wasn't done. 1) The first time, he had only fixed the front door and not the rear door or the mirror. 2) The second time, the floor matts were missing and it wasn't detailed, as he had promised. 3) The next time, he again said the detailing was done, but when we came to get it, it hadn't been. 4) He promised yet again that it was done, looking us in the face and saying that he had watched her clean it, despite our showing him that the car had a thick coat of dust all over inside. 5) We decided to take the car anyway. When we saw the invoice, we noticed that the paint protectant wasn't listed, so he actually wrote it on a blank spot and told us he had done it. Unlike with the dust, how could we tell? 6) He also falsified the date the vehicle was dropped off as October 19, even though the insurance records will show it as the end of August. 7) We didn't see until later that even though the insurance company had paid him for the windshield, he doubled charged us. 8) Then the car wouldn't start, since it had been sitting so long. 9) The bumper was loose, so we took it to a reputable body shop and they said it was only wired on, which was completely wrong and dangerous to drive that way. 10) They also said the paint job was done completely wrong and the whole car would need to be redone. 11) When we took it to the dealership, they said that he had not changed the oil like he said he did and had used the wrong kind of oil the last time he had done it. We don't know what changed from the time of the old reviews until now, but we were lied to repetitively and the work was still never done or done properly. read more

Mike and his shop are really unique. Stuck in a strip mall you would not know it existed. I have a few older foreign cars(BMW/Volvo) that can be a repair nightmare. I trust Mike and his shop.
