I took my car here to fix the A/C a little under a year ago and they had put a whole new compressor in and it costed me around $700 to do so. They did it quick and it worked for a little while but, ended up busting on me and is now leaking everywhere. I tried calling them about this and while i didn't have my invoice from this, i figured they should have some kind of record of the transaction. Turns out they do but he sends them off to his accountant and couldn't be bothered trying to find it. Then told me it had been over a year when he didn't even know that because he didn't have the date of the appointment. I went to this place to fix my car because my car died and my front axle broke. He got my car to work again but didn't fix the problem. the problem was a water pump, water hose, and fan. He was asking me for 1,300 for all of that. My axle was about to brake off my front of my car and he said to fix it he was going to charging me 700 for that. My axle was working pretty fine until 2 weeks later and it started to sound like a clunking sound when I run over bumps. It sounds broken to me. he is a nice person but he is charging way to much for it to brake again. So I ended up going some else and they charged me only 1,000 to fully fix my car. besides my car never running again the second shop I had it towed to had to charge me even more money to put parts of the car back together that they left undone. I should have never taken my car there.. I DIDNT all my money and ended up losing my car because I couldn't afford to get it fixed anymore.. when you didn't over 1,000$ at a shop and you car is no better than when you brought it there .. they don't know what their doing. and all these good reviews must be for oil changes or something. $1500. I saved this much money getting my Honda Civic serviced at Lanharts. Apparently, for years, I've been getting ripped off at Richfield-Bloomington Honda! (Gah!) A couple months ago, I brought my ride there for a routine oil change, and I thought I would only be there for an hour... After three painful hours of watching daytime soap operas, a representative came and told me they found $1800 worth of problems. The biggest cost? Pipes that leaked steering wheel fluid. (Somehow a $1200 problem.) Not to mention, the person that told me the news seemed really uncomfortable and stumbled over his words trying to explain the problems with my whip. Even though I'm not a Jedi (or not that knowledgeable about cars aside from changing a tire), my gut told me this dude was spewing lies out of his teeth. So for the first time in half a decade, I searched for an alternative. Not to be stereotypical, but maybe it's my fault for not utilizing one of the local Vietnamese community's greatest resources: Viet dudes that know how to fix cars. My ma suggested that I check out her friend's husband's business, who is one of the co-owners at Lanharts. "Why not?" I told myself. When my Civic was brought in for an estimate, co-owners Thich and Long determined that 1) getting the part would cost less than $100 and 2) it would only take one work-day to fix. In total, I only paid a bit over $230, saving me a bit more than $1500. Compare that to two to three days worth of work at Richfield-Bloomington Honda. It would be crazy for me to go somewhere else, now. Sure, it's not the prettiest inside (it's a repair shop, for God-sakes), and they definitely could use a receptionist, but they're straight to the point and will give you a FAIR estimate. Did I mention that I saved $1500? I'll be returning in January for a quick oil change. read more

I chose this place because of the glowing reviews. Now, I'm starting to understand that some of these reviews may have been planted by the business. I had my vehicle serviced due to a stuck caliper. When I picked my car up, I was missing a hubcap. When I asked about it, the guy at the desk just kept saying that there was no hubcap to begin with. I can 100% guarantee that there were all 4 hubcaps. To not even get acknowledgement of a mistake and to be basically told that I'm delusional is inappropriate and unacceptable. The brakes are still awful. They were supposed to replace all of the brakes. Maybe they replaced 2 of them, but they screwed up when bleeding the lines. The brakes are mushier than ever, and the car barely stops. I paid $500 for new brakes and what I got was a missing hubcap and worse brakes than before. When I emailed them regarding my situation, I waited almost a week and still didn't get a response. This business shouldn't even exist. If you want to get screwed over by a place that has no accountability whatsoever, go ahead. Waste your money here. They offer a warranty on their work but based on their follow through (or lack of) I don't believe that that's any good. At the VERY LEAST, there needs to be a response to the customer when things go this wrong. They think they can just ignore it and I will go away. My funds are not limitless. I cannot afford to just forget about this. Also, after being screwed over by other mechanics, I'm done with letting these kinds of things go. Go anywhere else for your service needs. Only positive. Long gave me the skinny on my Mercury's computer issue and explained it in detail without feeling the need to condescend. I like a step by step, as I am interested in learning more about my ride. The estimate for lifting out the manifold on the off chance it was the fuel injector was 65 less than a similar size shop. Let me begin by saying I DO NOT RECOMMENDED GOING HERE. I was looking for a mechanic that was honest and close to home because, like most of us, I really don't have a lot of time. Thankfully, they were just down the block. I was very pleased the first time they worked on my car. They got me in and out the same day and at a very reasonable rate. So, a few months later, I took my car back with a list of things that I needed to have taken care of. I told him that I was not in a rush and that they could have the car for the week. I was very descriptive about what was happening and how the car was acting in certain situations. He said no problem. I got a call later that day saying that the car was ready. I was a bit surprised because there was a lot I needed done. I went done to pick it up and found that many of the smaller things that I wanted done had not been taken care of and he said that I could just do this and it will work. I was thinking, "I'm trying to pay you to fix this and you don't want my money." I paid for the oil change and tune up and drove away. Not needing my car for several days, I did not know that it was acting worse than before I took it in but at that time I did not have the opportunity to take it back. When I did, I explained what was happening and that I was not pleased that I had to take the time to bring the car back when I gave ample time the first time to be sure what was done was done right. I, again, explained what was happening and asked if he even road tested the car before or after he initially did the work. He said that he would look into it and apologized. Later that afternoon, he called and said that he did not see anything wrong with the car and could not help. I thanked him and said I would not be back. I took my car elsewhere when I left and they looked at what was done and found the issue straight away. With all this said, I guess my point is that they do not appear to stand by their work or care about a customer that may have a complaint about their work. If he had just fixed the issues I would probably continued to have them service my car. read more
