We enjoyed making apple crisp in the first of a series of classes focused on the ABC's which included preparing and mixing ingredients, sampling different kinds of apples and charting individual taste preferences, using crayons to draw their favorite apple on a copy of the recipe to take home and finally story time with a book that tied into the theme while waiting for the apple crisp to bake. The children were all kindly asked to wash their hands prior to handling any ingredients and were kept incredibly safe with activities designed to keep them away from the oven and used kid friendly kitchen tools in preparation of ingredients. I scheduled something with them in Boston and had an emergency and had to fly home early. I contacted them in advance and they would not refund or give a credit or anything. I guess it's OK for them to leave you stranded and cancel on you, but if you have an emergency, they don't care. They had plenty of notice and could have gotten someone to fill our places or offered a credit, but they chose to do nothing. Awful people. I also contacted the chef who wasn't very nice either. I kept getting reminders about the dinner after I canceled as well. I will never use cozy meal again after these two experiences. Save your money.

Both were excellent and you learn a lot, but definitely have different vibes. The Italian class was super lively and there was a lot for everyone to help out with. I forgot the name of the Chef who was the lead that night but he was helpful and funny! Chef Ed and Chef Jojo were a great duo who did the most recent French Steakhouse class we did. Chef Ed was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly! This class was a smaller size too so it was personable, whereas the Italian class was pretty large, which there was nothing wrong with at all, just a different energy! During the French steakhouse class we didn't help AS much as I remember during the Italian class, but like I said we still learned a lot! One thing to note is if you take this class in the evening, you're cooking and prepping everything first obviously so you won't get to eat until later in the night. Thankfully, they do provide small apps to munch on when you get hungry, so that was great! Not to mention the wine and soft drinks you helped yourself to! You definitely work up an appetite by the end, and it's really rewarding when you finally sit down and eat what you've been watching and making all night! The food was delicious both times and it's a full dinner with an appetizer, main, and dessert! Overall, my fiancé and I love the SelfUp cooking classes and recommend them to everyone! We're already signed up for another one in the future!!

We got demos for everything that wasn't made by us but enjoyed the foods that our chef chose for us to make, such as the burrata! We had wine, cheese, meat, and focaccia when we got there and made our dessert, burrata, and pasta before assembling the whole meal. There was plenty of food to take home and we left stuffed! Our class happened at the start of a snow storm so only about 14-16 out of 20 people came which helped create a more intimate setting.

I have never hired a personal chef before, so I didn't have any expectations, but our meals were TRULY awesome. She made for us, mussels in tomato broth, fish with asparagus and tomatoes and olives, beef with mushroom risotto and this espresso chocolate custard that I could've eaten for the rest of my life for every meal. Not only was the food beyond exceptional but Erynn is on-time, responsive, calm, and, while friendly, is a tough cookie. She was put in a situation with a tiny kitchen with very little room to maneuver and she didn't come to me with problems, she just figured out how to make it work. And her price structure is beyond reasonable. There were some issues but they were more the fault of my planning. But you live and learn. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend South End Chef and I hope I have reason to hire Erynn again. Her onion tarts are going on my Top 10 list of "Best Things I Have Ever Put In My Mouth".
