4.5 stars Great Work - Poor Timing Small master bath and powder room remodel I knew what the cost was upfront. As my job was discussed and created, work items were listed and priced individually. When I added and removed items they displayed appropriately as a refund credit or additional charge immediately. The time frame proposed in the beginning was a guess-estimate I understand because one has to dig into a project to truly see what it will take. But no, my rooms were not completed in a timely manner. Schedules were pushed out, but I will state that there were a few times I was contacted and offered someone to come over to complete a trade earlier than scheduled. I made sure to have most of the needed materials already at my home so there would be no time issues when on site. (I purchased some items independently). Honestly, the time sucked. The various tradesmen were polite and knowledgeable. The men prepped my home's entryway and paths to each workroom protecting all surfaces. I had no debris left or scuffed flooring. They showed up, completed their job and left my home clean. Holtzman's web portal was easy for me to access and use. All details about my project were available to be viewed at any time. I communicated with customer service, my appointed designer, and my supervisor through emails, phone calls, in person and texts. The sales rep was very difficult to reach once my project contract was signed, but my supervisor, Will Stubblefield, supported me through every question I had throughout the whole process. His time and work was genuine and appreciated. He made sure that each phase of the project was completed to my satisfaction and when the schedule was ridiculously pushed back, he stepped in on a couple weekends and completed some work himself. Will responded to each of my questions patiently as I had many being this my first project. If I have more projects, I will request Will to manage it. He secured my confidence that Holtzman Home Improvement would complete the job and have it done well. read more

I am a 78 year old blind women currently dealing with cancer and MAC lung disease. With extensive help from my granddaughter we hired this company to build a addition to her home for me to live in and receive the care needed. A huge thing for us was time frame to complete project. Holtzman insured over and over that the only time they go over estimate complete time is "if a little lady makes changes". They have made huge mistakes that impact my needs as a blind person, ignored us, damaged existing home and much more. In the time frame that they have gone over I have gone to the hospital 3 times. It would be nice to come home to the addition I'm spending my life savings on. This company does not care about the work they do and it shows! Correct my name is not on the contact as I am severely disabled and when trying to get this project started was going through chemo and spending most my time at the hospital. However my bank account shows other wise. Brandon for sure knows who I am connected to within this project. I will do my best to touch on all areas, both good and bad! LENGTH OF TIME QUOTED TO COMPLETE JOB - 45 days LENGTH OF TIME IT TOOK TO COMPLETE JOB - 171 days In May of 2018, we called Holtzman Home Improvement (HHI) to come out to our home for renovation. My mother had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, and we needed to get both my parents moved in with us ASAP. Rob came over to the house and we received an estimate for approx 75K in work. Rob knew the urgency of the job, stated it couldn't start until August, and told me it would take approximately 45 days. After discussing with my parents, we decided to move forward, and a deposit was given to HHI to start the work. Building permits were completed 7/18 and Melanie emailed me stating project to start 8/4 with superintendents coming by 8/2 to do a walk through. I agreed to meet at noon, only to be met with "I apologize, there was a mix up" and my job was now scheduled to start 9/7. When I told them this was not acceptable, their response was they were totally booked and could not move my start date any sooner. Melanie stated each job is scheduled in the order they are sold, and they were 3 months out. THIS IS WHEN I SHOULD HAVE CUT MY LOSSES! But, my mom had just passed away, and I didn't have the strength to start this process all over again. Timeliness: Demo began 9/10/18 and job was not "complete" until 2/27/19. We went days/weeks where no one showed up to work on the house. After they cut a post tension line, the project sat for over 2 weeks with nothing being done! Craftsmanship: 90% of the trades they sent over were excellent! They did great work, had great attitudes, and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. The completed work looks great! Planning: To give a few examples - the flooring guys came over to install, but there was no flooring dropped off the night before install. Drywall guys showed up, but city inspection was not signed off, so drywall could not be done. Anytime a trade leaves, they move onto another job, and yours gets pushed back again! Communication: HHI will only call you when they are looking for another payment. Other than that, you will need to call them to get an idea when to expect someone at your home to do any work. They use an online tool/portal called Buildertrend and Faztimate. Buildertrend will notify you when your job is rolled back, you will then need to call HHI and ask why. Both systems I find difficult to use. I have requested HHI email me info, but they refuse, and direct me to their portal. Cost: Lets just say they wrote an "allowance" for a custom door at less than $300. When they sent someone out to measure the door, I was quoted $5700.00. When I pushed back, I was told "Oh yeah, thats Frankie, he is expensive". So they sent another person out that quoted $1100.00. . . . . . . . . Professionalism: The owners don't have the first idea what this is! They take no responsibility and point fingers at the customer nonstop. They send snarky text messages and even threaten to sue you! For example, final door was painted on 2/27, and Brandon emailed me that evening stating "Here is the copy of the late bill you owe". How am I late paying you when you just finished the job a few hours ago?? I have asked both Danny Holtzman and Brandon Holtzman to email me a breakdown of charges, to reflect changes made and credits, but am told "we have already credited everything we are going to credit." After telling Brandon I would be going to ROC, YELP, and news stations for help, he threatened to sue me. He made it clear he has a team of attorneys, so it's not an issue for him. Now the job is done, but I have no clear answer on what the balance truly is. Danny and Brandon have not sent me an itemized summary showing corrections and credits, and claim they don't need to supply it to me either. As of my last phone call with Brandon, he is busy with his kids sporting events, isn't in front of a computer all day, and will look into it later. The drain install and pipes for the shower are all in as I wait for the next phase. Everyone at Holtzman has been helpful and courteous through this whole process. We've recently worked with the Holtzman team on a remodel of our seasonal home in Scottsdale and a subsequent repair project - unrelated to the renovation. I can't say enough about how customer-focused everyone on the team was for both projects. The sales & design process was very comprehensive and the designer was easy to work with. She took the time to understand our needs and created a design that reflected both us and our budget. The footprints of our kitchen and both bathrooms are quite constrained but the cabinets designer came up with creative and unique solutions to maximize the space we had to work with. Any renovation project will have challenges when it comes to completing the actual reno work. If any company tells you otherwise, they are not being truthful. But our projects have been completed during the COVID-19 pandemic and while we were living in a different state! These 2 facts dramatically increased the opportunity for things to go sideways. BUT . . . . This is where our project superintendent Daniel, made a huge difference. He kept us in the loop constantly and confirmed things with us via photos and videos and calls. He understood and worked within the HOA rules. Daniel was very proactive and responsive. Given the situation, we don't think Daniel and his team of trades people could have done a better job. Thanks to you all for a job well done. We are extremely pleased with the quality and on-budget results delivered on these two projects. If I could give no stars I would. They're nice at the beginning but lie and delay for no reason. Supposed to start in March - nope - late April. Said 3-4 weeks no kitchen - 4+ months. Put shower doors in backward so it leaked. Put in pex when we specified copper from the beginning. They had to rip it out so we could get what we paid for. Didn't know how many counter slabs we bought because they couldn't remember where they had them. Too many other things to list. Owners are a joke and rarely respond to issues. Took over 8 months for a job they assured would be done in 5 at the latest. No one ever apologizes for mistakes - everything was always our fault. No one in the office talks to anyone else so they don't know what's going on. Best of all, the workers left for the day and left my front door WIDE OPEN ( I have pix and a screenshot of the text I sent and their response.) for hours so anyone walking by could have taken whatever they wanted from my house. It took me 6 months to calm down enough to write this without cursing. STAY AWAY from these incompetent fools. We're still fixing things they did wrong. Don't believe any rebuttal comments from Brandon or Danny trying to make themselves sound better. I wouldn't have them build me a birdhouse knowing all of the delays and headaches. They do have a few good people - the demo guys and the tile guys were great but not enough to make up for everone else. Ok Brandon, try to refute what I said - you know I have proof. I am thrilled to say that the bathroom remodel was done in a very timely manner (minor delay to start, didn't want to have work done during the holidays), but everything else went very smoothly. Will, our go-to guy, was awesome. He made sure that each service was done correctly and completely. Our ugly 80's green bathroom with wallpaper is now a gorgeous updated modern bathroom with all new stuff inside. We couldn't be happier. We were doing a major remodel and didn't really know for sure what we wanted But with the help of Paul our salesman, Carline our designer and Tony our supervisor the finished product turned out great. Now there are always hiccups in this sort of thing but Tony was always a phone call away to answer any questions or take care of any issues we had. I had scheduled an office meeting with the estimator to finalize the list of construction line items before signing my kitchen remodel contract, however after I began asking questions regarding some of the items in their TWELVE Pages of Terms & Conditions, he became quite annoyed. He closed his laptop and stood up, informing me: "We're finished here", "I don't want your business", and "I can tell you will be difficult to work with"! I'll revisit this review if and when my project is ever completed (it's now been 7 months). But for now, I'm only giving it as much as 3 stars because the designers I worked with were so great. Their selections were spot on and I really appreciated all of their help. However, the implementation of this design has been a nightmare. Decisions on major items (like completely removing a soffit) were made without my knowledge and the company tried to cover up and hide other damage. Much of the work is shoddy like plank flooring installed with gaps, paint on brand new fixtures and miscellaneous holes in the cabinetry. When I complain I'm given 101 excuses as to why they made their decisions (but why didn't they ask me first?) or that the problem was because of a subcontractor or an employee they've already fired. I'm sorry, but Holtzman hires these subcontractors, and should supervise them and verify the work they do. I had window installation, and no one even came by to see if it went okay. It did not. Do not use this company. I can't stress this enough. read more

OUTSTANDING!!!Holtzman and all of there wonderful employees have made our remodel a dream. Everyone we have worked with is highly experienced in the industry, prideful in their work, and personable. They have been honest, straightforward, and fair in pricing. They take the time to understand your priorities and provide council through the decision making process. The craftsmanship has been great, they leave our house in good order every day and are friendly to our dog. We have been so thrilled with the remodel they did on our bathrooms that we signed for our master bath and main home flooring. Let me begin by saying that I have had 3 complete homes and two extensive additions built in various areas the country - one of which is in another area of Scottsdale. I am also currently renovating our home in Fort Myers Beach following Hurricane Ian's devastation in October of 2022 - it will be done in far less time than our Scottsdale remodel courtesy of Holtzman Home Improvement. My permanent residence was built during the Covid 19 countrywide shut down. I state all of this by way of saying that I am not a stranger to construction or to the issues that cause delays in construction. I have been blessed to have found extraordinary companies around the country to build our homes. Holtzman Home Improvement is not one of those companies. In fact, Holtzman Home Improvement is only extraordinary in how truly bad they are - starting at the top of the "organization". To be fair, Holtzman Home Improvement was not our first choice in June of 2021, to do the extensive remodel of our home in North Scottsdale. Our first choice was honest enough to say that they would not be able to begin our project until November of 2021. They recommended Holtzman Home Improvement if we didn't want to wait that long to get started. So we contacted Rob Hardee, salesperson, (who we have had many ugly exchanges with since that date) and signed the contract on 6/7/21 with the anticipated start date of the project as 9/13/21and the completion date of 12/31/2021. We made the deposit/initial payment immediately, as we did will all subsequent pay requests. We understood that the completion date would be lengthened with the change orders we made. The actual demolition start date didn't happen until November 2021. (In hindsight, our first choice would have been the way to go, since they at least were honest enough to say that they couldn't start until November.) And the end date, or at least the last day we allowed anyone from Holtzman in our home, was April of 2022. Along the way, we had 4 different "supervisors", one of which was Brandon Holtzman. Communication was absolutely horrible.Every single person we texted or emailed was incapable of understanding even the most rudamental concepts. The only time we heard from anyone was when they needed another payment. One of our supervisors actually warned us not to make a payment until he called us himself. (They billed for things that they weren't even close to starting.) Of course, that supervisor was fired. The owners and salespeople are rude and ignorant. And I have the texts and emails to prove that. They have no integrity and are completely unprofessional in every respect. They charge for things that they do not do. And if you don't pay up front, they refuse to continue working. Their work is not quality either. We had to bring in others to redo work that Holtzman trades did poorly or straight up said they wouldn't do. So we ended up paying twice for many things. They were negligent in how they left our home when they did come out - paint cans left on new floors, no sweeping as they claim they do each day. They used our pool bathroom and it was a disgusting mess. We finally insisted they get a portapotty but they continued to use our bathroom until we had a lock installed. They left things outdoors to warp and be sun damaged, "lost" cabinet doors that we then had to have remade, threw out door stops that we then had to buy new, had our designer order more tile than was necessary and refused to pay her back for it, and the list goes on and on..... If I could give this company a negative rating, I don't even think it could go low enough. If someone suggests Holtzman Home Improvement to you for your remodeling needs - RUN, do not walk, as far away as you can. read more

The owners fought not only with me, their employees stated he fought with many of their customer. what kind of a business man fights with their customers whether they were right or wrong? happy customers are the best source of new business! We had 4 supervisors, 3 were fired and the fourth one was ineffective. they can't keep employees, poor management was not called back by employees),often in the midst of a 13 month period gave them the house codes and had one worker walk in my house unannounced, he walked through the house without saying a word and then walked into my bedroom and looked at me while I was sleeping? had dumpster in front of my house for 8 months, was without the master and guest bathrooms for 8 months! was told the countertops were not in so they charged us 2 k, the owner suggested the countertops. look nice but show every drip and drop. we are planning on ripping them out and putting something better caught them lying to me various times. these people are inept in my opinion, check out the Better Business Bureau postings read more

Everyone from the designer to the tradespeople were super friendly and considerate. I really felt comfortable with them in our home. They were even extra kind to my overly friendly child who insisted on greeting the tradespeople every time they went in and out. The designer worked with us on our limited budget to help give us a bathroom we'd love. She helped point out details we would never have thought about, and really worked around our crazy schedule. I'm incredibly impressed with the end result and would recommend Holtzman to anyone looking for a professional remodel. I've had some experience with hiring contractors and Holtzman had none of the usual headaches. Their scheduling and online platform was super easy to understand and was very consistent. There were no surprises, and the foreman was available for all questions. The end result is a gorgeous bathroom that we're excited about and it didn't break the budget. If there is any complaint, it's that they are booked out quite a ways, so make sure to get on the schedule now! They helped create a vision that they could not execute. They sold a dream of my project being completed in 2 months per contract and they delivered a 5 month nightmare. They couldn't even complete a pocket door in 5 months with 4 of those months being unlimited access, since I could not live in my house during the process. My dad had to finish the pocket door due to their endless incompetence. On top of that, they didn't even offer to give me money back. Every trade has no idea what's going on or they require interpretation services for clarification. Everything they touched they had to be touched twice to try to get it right. They are never on time due to illness or working on projects even though I waited 4 months for them to start. They also told me they have to give my townhome community a 48 hour notice of a water shut off by law, yet I was given an 18 hour notice. When I questioned the notice discrepancy, it was then spun around asking me if I wanted to delay my project and even said he hoped he wasn't being recorded. The AROC highly frown upon breaking laws. I had to cut out numerous projects because I knew they were not capable of completing them. I sent an email out within 2 months of my concern, and they assured me their company was competent. The owner Brandon didn't even reply. They don't care about you, only your money. If you want to save thousands to stress more than this is the company for you! Good luck! read more

UPDATE: It's been 2 weeks and still not complete. Came home from a 8 day vacation thinking things would progress and it only got worse! The guys were informed where to install my hardware and they took it upon themselves to create their own design on where my hardware should go. Now my stain cabinets are completely ruined with holes that don't belong there, and the screws are stripped, so I can't even remove them if I wanted to without destroying the back panel of my cabinets. My hood is installed & the same chick in the office that failed to order my cabinets in a timely manner and say some random excuse also failed to order a $3000 part to operate my vents/hood. This company is disgusting and a joke!!! My central nervous system is shot because of this company! Do not use them! ******* It's been over a year since we signed our agreement with an end date of 12/20/22. Here we are on June 14, 2023 & we still don't have a completed kitchen. Delay after delay with no accountability or responsibility taken on Holtzman's part. Now the side of my house is torn up because they didn't read the SOW to install a Pot Filler (asked me about it as if I am the PM of this project), we have to add that to the list of things to get done. We are so annoyed that now our stucco will have a line on the wall once it settles. I have been in this industry long enough to know how this is gonna work out. The alternative would be for them to tear out the kitchen again. We can't install anything because the person who was to order our cabinets that dropped the ball back in 10/22 didn't order enough material I suppose. I don't even have my Hood up above my cooktop and meanwhile they don't have the HVAC guy on the schedule. The list can go on and on. Instead of buying exhibitor spots at the Home Show, why don't you use those funds to get your company in order. It should never take this long to complete this small kitchen. Please use caution when using this company. I will not update this review until we are completely satisfied. I have been more than patient. 3/25 Moving to 4 stars...and will stay at this until completion, scheduled for a couple of weeks. Kudos as the company has stepped up to meet commitments, so lots of positives on this. As this was more of a systems and process issue, it will take time to determine if these things are actually fixed. They are now on a track to 5 stars with me, will wait for project completion to determine a final score. As a fellow business owner I know every company encounters issues, it is how the company responds and learns going forward that matter. Owner called after seeing our review last night and talked through some of our issues, made some changes in their systems for better communications; will have to see how this goes over time. He promised a crew onsite today, and the promise was met! I do believe this method of getting a business' attention is a last resort...and my hope for Holtzman is they don't just fix us, but make overall changes for all their customers to resume getting more 5star reviews. I will keep updating as things progress, hopefully with more stars to add. *********************** We had been holding off writing this review, keeping thinking things would get better; but now after reading the recent reviews from Jeremy H. and David M. we see we are not the only ones in the situation. Given these reviews were in the last 2 weeks, we can only speculate something is going on with this company that has caused them to be receiving 1 star ratings from their current customers. Read what they say, and pretty much verbatim it reflects our circumstances: July, 2021 - signed contract for kitchen and master bath remodel. Though no completion date or final design ever were produced (our bad for not insisting on these), it was "promised" for an EOY completion The rest of 2021 was a series of meetings and postponements of work starting Jan, 2022 - cabinets and appliances arrived (unannounced), demolition occurred Completion date of April 12, 2022 on calendar Feb, 2022 - no work occurred Mar, 2022 - still have bare walls in both kitchen and master bathroom. Have had a total of ~16 hours of work since demolition (some basic framing, plumbing, electrical) An unasked for change order was submitted which we declined, and after we explained (numerous times) why it wasn't needed, at least they did take it back Now showing May 18, 2022 for completion; though flashing on the calendar as "unscheduled" (ie, not committed) The most frustrating item is the online calendar is never adhered to. Work items are scheduled, no one shows up, the item is then moved to a different date...all without any communication. We ask about these, get apologies...but they continue to happen. We are not to point of taking to the ROC. Our superintendent, Derrick, does return calls and provide explanations, but we feel he is as clueless about the calendar/scheduling changes as we are. Our situation is recoverable. We would like nothing better than to write an addendum to this in the (very) near future that things changed and we are happy with the work; but at this time our best hope is management will read this and get their act together for us and the other frustrated customers. read more

Wanted to provide an update on the project. We are currently five months behind the projected completion date of October 2022 and have been out of the home for five months as a result, despite being told we would likely only need to move out for a few weeks. We have continuously tried working with Holtzman, providing them with several opportunities to resolve ongoing issues, but have been met with excuses and additional days. Given multiple missed deadlines and escalating tensions, we recently filed a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (upon doing so, we learned Holtzman has multiple complaints.) Once the ROC notified Holtzman of our complaint, the owner immediately reached out looking to terminate our contract and go our separate ways -- but not before having us make additional payments -- and asking us to rescind our complaint with the ROC. When we would not immediately agree, our project superintendent (the fifth so far) reached out to indicate Holtzman was willing to continue working to get the job done, but he emphasized that the ROC "works both ways" and that Holtzman would be within its rights to halt all work until the scheduled ROC inspection date, which felt like a veiled threat. We stressed that we only filed the ROC complaint after exhausting all other attempts and also want the job done as soon as possible, but want it to be done well and at a fair price. That was a few weeks ago, since all work has stopped on Holtzman side and negotiations have failed. They did not want to be held accountable or liable for the work done and we wanted the remaining work finished and poor work fixed. Key issues during our experience with Holtzman so far: 1) Lack of transparency and professionalism. (Highlight: Our first superintendent told us to 'get the f*ck out' of the Holtzman office.) 2) Poor planning and communication, and extensive delays. (We never one got a single schedule that was more than a few weeks out, and even then, the team seemingly could never hit estimated completion dates. On days we were told to expect workers, no one would show up, and vice versa. At this point, we are five months behind schedule, and we still have never been provided a legitimate reason.) 3) Carelessness. (Tradesmen had to come back multiple times because they didn't follow the city-approved blueprints or execute a job correctly. In nearly all cases, issues would not have been fixed had the owner not pointed out problems. The team also failed to do the prep work outlined in the contract, leaving the rest of the home and its vents covered in dust that will need to be professionally removed.) At this point all we want is to move back into our home with our new baby and Holtzman is making it as difficult as possible for this to be a reality. read more

What a nightmare! Our kitchen and bathroom remodel started mid-March 2022 with a projected mid-June completion date. It is now closing in on Thanksgiving and it's STILL not done. They told us the kitchen was ready to have our appliances installed, but when the appliance folks came out they couldn't do it because Holtzman hadn't finished the electrical hookups. Now we have to reschedule and pay extra for the new installation appointment. Due to the original projected completion date, we had arranged for the appliances to be delivered at the end of June and they have been sitting in the garage ever since. One of the garage doors was left unsecured and somebody came in and stole our microwave, so we had to buy a new one. When I finally lost patience in October and asked Holtzman what the holdup was, they blamed the cabinets supply chain problems. But the cabinets had been there SINCE AUGUST and sat in the garage for weeks before being installed. Supply chain doesn't explain the delays. I chose Holtzman last year after researching contractors in the area and seeing their good reviews. But I now suspect that those are left over from the previous generation of Holtzmans. To start - we love how our remodel turned out - we had kitchen, master bath, 2 extra baths, laundry room and flooring. We would definitely hire Holtzman again for future remodel work, especially knowing at this point what to expect from them. Christina was our designer and she was wonderful to work with. She took everything we said we liked and worked within that style. The design turned out beautifully and we couldn't be happier! She helped us work out a lot of things we weren't sure about and was always great with guiding us throughout the remodel process. We would DEFINITELY recommend working with Christina - she has great ideas, loves her job and works hard for her clients. We did have some struggles along the way and I would highly recommend working with your designer and cabinet orderer at the time of ordering cabinets to ensure that what is being ordered is what you discussed with your designer. We also had a hard time with the schedule, although, just as our project was finishing up, it seemed things were improving with that piece. The schedule would be posted but was never right. We usually asked the workers if they knew what would be happening the next few days which gave us more information than the schedule did. Communications were a challenge, we had 3 different foremen in the span of about 4 weeks and were never informed of the changes which was frustrating for us. The only communications we typically received were payment invoices. There are some outstanding workers in the company, very skilled and do beautiful work. We could not have asked for better craftmanship and our master bathroom is an oasis. We have gotten so many compliments on our flooring and kitchen from guests - we are very happy with the finished product. Would recommend this company but keep in mind some of the areas to keep an eye on throughout the project as mentioned above and the project will hopefully go a little easier than ours was! read more

Let me start off by saying, I rarely give company reviews. With that said, I can't say enough good things about Holtzman Home Improvement. Holtzman remodeled my kitchen and completed the project in December of 2021. The work was impeccable and the finished project is AMAZING! Honestly, This is a family owned and operated business that cares about the customers and their work product. That's hard to come by these days. Holtzman is not the cheapest company, but the company you want to do your job. You get what you pay for and more. They have detailed bids and billing, will never try to collect 50% or 75% of project costs up front, and offer premium services and products. I will continue to refer people to Holtzman and sing their song. If you have an issue regarding warranty work with Brandon .. his team is always there. Their warranty is 5 years. I have done multiple projects with Holtzman Home improvement and they always stand by their work no matter what you need. You can definitely count on this company!! read more

PROCEED WITH CAUTION. One of the worst customer experiences I've had in my life. The company is clearly overbooking projects without the resources to complete them. Sharing the "highlights" from our experience and will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau to hopefully save others from this headache of a company. I'm writing this review on December 21, 2022 after (hesitantly) making our final payment on a small bathroom remodel. We let the team know we were pregnant and due September 30th; we were assured the project would be complete well before then. Actual completion date was 12/21/22. I'm attaching photos of "finished" work that became our responsibility to pay someone external to complete. (disclaimer - we already planned to hire someone else to paint after the work was done, but the rest of the issues were a result of Holtzman's work.) Issues with work: --Went to install our toilet and were told that the previous plumber (employed by Holtzman to start the work) made several errors that they would have to resolve. This resulted in punching 2 holes into the wall of our kitchen to access the plumbing, that then had to be patched and dry walled. --They textured patch jobs on a wall and ceiling that was smooth and were told to just have our own guy sand it down when he paints. (The drywall contractor actually apologized to me for the way it looked because he said he KNEW it was wrong but his superintendent told him he needed to do it that way.) --They left the carpet pulled up at the threshold of the door because "it was stretched out and we need to have it restretched" which wasn't the case in that room before the work started. They of course offered to refer us to a carpet guy to pay extra for that work to be done. --They made us install the light fixture before our mirror (even though THEIR electrician advised against it) and put the mirror up, not centered and on screws that were the wrong size for their anchors, so the mirror almost fell off the wall. Communication issues: -We had a total of 5 superintendents on our project. Every time someone new was assigned, they would have to start over assessing the work to be done. There was a 2 month stint when NO superintendents even visited the project, but instead asked us to send them photos of what needed to be completed. -We had an excellent experience with Christina, their sales rep, which is why we felt confident securing our project with them. They required 1/3 of the total project payment upfront, which we paid in January. We knew the project would not start until June with estimated completion in August. -By the end of July, we still had not been contacted by anyone to even start demolition. At that point, we tried to cancel the contract and were told by the owner that they were not responsible for delays in supply chain (we made product selections with their designer in April). We asked what had been delayed because nothing had been communicated to us and he referred us to their scheduler. She confirmed that they did in fact have all of our materials and there were no delays. -My husband and I ended up essentially managing the project ourselves because we could not get anything scheduled without reaching out multiple times to the superintendent AND owner. We were constantly directed to "the online portal" where schedules changed at a moment's notice or people would just not show up and we would be responsible for tracking them down. Do your research before signing a contract with them. read more

Do not use this company. The entire experience was exhausting. We were quoted 6-8 weeks. It took 25 weeks from the beginning of demo. We signed in Feb 2022. They didn't start demo until Jun 2022. We were remodeling a small downstairs bathroom. They did not complete the project until the end of Nov 2022. The design person seemed nice. But she sold us on a piece of granite that we based our color scheme on that we then couldn't get. Found out later she was fired for incompetence. Their approach seemed to be bait and switch. The never ending barrage of change orders driving up the price was ridiculous. They had to do the shower floor 3 times before getting it correct. If I hadn't caught the error they were going to use the wrong tile for the floor. The grout job was poor. The alignment of the tiles was horrible. The amount of wasted product that we paid for was insane. They left the threshold loose. They had to come back out. They couldn't hang a simple electrical cover. They put one screw in semi tight. And the others were just in the plate, not secured to anything. We had to constantly beg for updates. We even reached out to the Brandon one of the owners. During one exchange with him. I was told to leave the worker alone and mind my business. Which I interpreted as the owner telling me to sit down and shut up. One of the things that sold us on the company was they said all their people were W4 employees. Talking to the people that showed up at our home, that is NOT the truth. Avoid this company. Save yourself endless delays and headaches. read more

I'll make this a multi-faceted review similar to a few others below in hopes that anyone reading will be able to make their own educated decision. Professionalism: Through-out the entire process anyone who I spoke with, or had contact with was professional and pleasant. Craftsmanship: The quality of their work is easily 4 out of 5 stars. Their employees are superb at their crafts. Our two showers could not have turned out looking better. I did have to address some small areas in the guest shower for grout that had gaps, and they did not reinstall the air duct vent in the master. Took me about 15 minutes, but if you aren't handy I could see this being a major issue for someone. Planning: Our sales rep, Ryan, was responsive and addressed any needs or designs diligently. We also added on a 2nd bathroom mid project, and he was able to seamlessly coordinate the particulars on the design. Unfortunately, this is where HHI truly careens of the rails. Communication: They will tell you they have all of their projects planned, and that the work will be coordinated to ensure its completion. I'd take this with a grain of salt. The foreman we had, Mike, was a quiet guy and didn't seem much interested in quality, follow up or timeliness. The online app/calendar is nice, but the calendar was definitely inaccurate, at most 20% of the time it was on par. It was also irritating to always have to reach out to get the details on when, where and whats next (even after telling Brandon's wife more communication would be beneficial). I feel with the assignment of a Foreman and an online app, they should have been provide ample communication. They failed at this time and time again, from relaying project details to their employees to relaying what days I would have strangers in my home. Timeliness: If I could give this a -1 out of 5 stars I easily would. Projected scheduled for November 30, 2017. Did not begin until late February 2018, 98% completed on June 13, 2018. One hell of a delay for what was suppose to be a 3 week/shower remodel. The only timely thing about the project was how quickly HHI expected to be paid, they are sure to over communicate that. Our house was a construction zone - they will lay out some heavy duty protective floor coverings on the carpet and tile - for nearly 8 months. Cost: $19,171.96 for two complete beautiful shower remodels. The cost includes expensive tile and fixtures, moved 3' of duct, corrected a small section of tile floor and tweaked some plumbing. For nearly $20,000 I expect every part of your service to be outstanding, not just the final result, hence the two star review. If money is not a concern, you're not living in the home, and there's no time constraints, Holtzman is the a reliable company that will get the work done. read more

Strange experience overall. I filled out their online form, which explicitly asked for my budget ($50,000). Then a guy came over to my house, and I walked through exactly what I wanted (bed/bath remodel). I told him to give me options on pricing so I could pick and choose which items I wanted to do, as far as whether or not to put in a shower/tub, enclose the toilet, etc. I even gave him a floorplan with exactly what I had in mind and told him to feel free to give me suggestions. I drove 45 minutes to their office the next week, where he proceeded to show me an idea that completely changed the location of everything, including entrances, ducting, the whole works, which was three times my budget. It was a nice dream scenario, but I'd still prefer to see pricing on my idea. He hadn't bothered to do anything like it at all. So after I told him again that I'd like pricing on my idea, he said no problem, he'd have it to me early the next morning. Then I was ghosted. Never heard back from him or the company at all.
