There are many honest services out there that offer free cost estimates and don't try to manipulate you to buy their products. They'll also say the fee is to compensate for the time that the technicians spend coming out, but that's just being dishonest. That $70 sure as hell ain't going to the worker. If they're being dishonest before you even hire them, think about what else they'd be dishonest about. Please stay away. The first time I worked with David Williams himself - my fridge's outlet kept going out, and then coming back on. David walked through steps to test the outlet, the circuit breaker, the grounding circuit and some other tests before he would come out and charge me. It was a nice touch. Trouble shooting took a few trips out, but he was very easy to reach as we tested. Next they came out to fix some really dangerous wiring in our attic after our roof was replaced. Installation went fine. The last trip out they installed new recessed lighting in our living room and a new chandelier and a two dimmer switches. We bought the chandelier, but they provided the recessed lighting. In all cases, dry wall is repaired to flat surface ready for painting - but they do the painting themselves.
