These guys have been my go-to electricians since I moved to Columbia, and I've been very happy so far. Prices aren't the cheapest, but they do a great job, are quick, so I think it's reasonable. The first time I worked with David Williams himself - my fridge's outlet kept going out, and then coming back on. David walked through steps to test the outlet, the circuit breaker, the grounding circuit and some other tests before he would come out and charge me. It was a nice touch. Trouble shooting took a few trips out, but he was very easy to reach as we tested. Next they came out to fix some really dangerous wiring in our attic after our roof was replaced. Installation went fine. The last trip out they installed new recessed lighting in our living room and a new chandelier and a two dimmer switches. We bought the chandelier, but they provided the recessed lighting. In all cases, dry wall is repaired to flat surface ready for painting - but they do the painting themselves. Jobs are generally paid for by service, not hours, so you know what it will cost up front - baring any surprises when they open an outlet and find that it's been wired to two circuit breakers by the pervious owner, or your attic fan apparently has 2 sources of electricity ... read more

We had the pleasure of working directly with Gabriel in addition to some of his staff (Abby & a few others). They were all extremely thorough, professional and hard working. They installed 4 ceiling fans where we had none before so it required new wiring to the wall switch. Then replaced 2 ceiling fans, replaced a chandelier and checked on/fixed a few other items for us. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and did wonderful work. The 10 outlets in my family room were intermittent for at least a year. They turn themselves off and back on later for no apparent reason! I hired 3 electricians (one master electrician) and yet no one could identify or solve the problem, but of course they charged me anyway for house visit, changing circuit breaker switches (needlessly), etc! They told me it was a "tough" problem to solve. These electricians are on Yelp and are rated very highly. I then called the 4th electrician, who was not on Yelp, and spoke to David at David Williams Electric Co. and he spent 15 minutes on the phone trying to fully understand the problem (no one had done this before). He then told me what I could do to lower my cost before their arrival (I had to do some simple tests). Vern came to my house today and based on my discussions with David, managed to identify the problem in 2 minutes! He knew the exact outlet that must have an intermittent connection, and surely it did. The cost to replace the faulty outlet was a fraction of what I had been charged by others before. I called David Williams Electric to remove an APC Automatic Generator Transfer switch that was defective. I was also hoping to get an interlock device installed. Although their website indicates that they install generators, the electrician had no idea how to remove (or work on the switch). He was able to bypass one of the wires to reactivate the inoperable circuit. If the job is complicated, I would look elsewhere. However, they seem very capable for smaller projects. They also charge a "show up" fee, so do your research and be guided accordingly. NOTE: I called another electrician who was able to complete the removal of the transfer switch and install the interlock in under (1) hour. read more

I am sorry to say that I rarely leave recommendations however, in the case of David Williams Electric, I must as their service was above and beyond what was expected. Something went wrong with the breaker controlling my oven on Monday with Thanksgiving coming on Thursday. I called Monday morning and they fit me in at the end of that day so the holiday dinner for my family and friends could go on as planned. They arrived as promised, fixed the problem and I was ready for the holiday.
