Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe has officially become my favorite ice cream stop in the North Shore. The ice cream is amazing, but Katy and Molly truly made the experience. I showed them a screenshot from social media of something I wanted to try, and they went completely above and beyond helping me figure it out. So kind, patient, and welcoming. There are a few other ice cream spots on the strip, but honestly? There's only one right choice. read more

Oh my goodness, such a great ice cream spot! I got the cookie dough and mintsanity in a waffle cone and it was to die for! Cookie dough is one of my favorite flavors, and Holy Cow's is some of the best I've ever had! Decided to branch out a little and try the mintsanity and I'm so glad I did! Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong here - so many creative and delicious flavor combinations! Did I mention that the waffle cone was made fresh and was still warm when it was handed to me - just incredible!!!!! Really high quality ice cream and very unique flavors. The man working was super friendly and offered flavor advice. My boyfriend got the cold brew Oreo which he loved and I got both milk and cookies and corner piece; both incredible! It is pretty expensive but generous with the portions. I am legit obsessed with this place! I'd already been to the Gloucester location, so when I was in Salem and realized they had another location there, I had to visit. Once again, I had the Cinnamon Churro Dough, which was amazing. The little churro bites are next level. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is special because it's in a row with a bunch of other vendors. Do not go here if you have any allergy. I have been going here for a while with celiac disease and they were always so accommodating getting fresh scoops out of a fresh container to avoid cross-contamination. Not to mention the ice creams they label as gluten free are so good! I went today and was told they changed their policy. They can get new scoops, but they have to serve it out of the opened, already cross contaminated containers. They won't open a new container anymore. If you have any allergy just know that despite labeling all of their ice cream, noting which are gluten free, which have nuts, dairy free, etc., that everything has been crossed contaminated with the scoops they use for every single one with only rinsing them with water in between. I used to brag about how good this place was to everyone we knew and take them there, but that is officially over. I'm going to tell everyone not to bother going here as their new policy is a slap in the face to those with allergies who already struggle with eating out anywhere. read more

i don't know of any other successful year-round ice cream parlor, and this is why. holy cow has perfected their limited edition flavors while maintaining about a dozen core flavors. i am so happy they added pistachio baklava to their core flavors! this location seems to have a bit less options than the one in peabody, although it's a convenient location if you're closer to downtown salem. service is always great, i'm happy they're open to providing samples before committing to a whole pint. i love their christmas tree, pistachio baklava, nina coolada, boston blackout flavors. i always get the pints. read more

I ordered a medium " coffee ice cream, xx cream xxsugar. In a homemade waffle cone. A small would have been more than enough, the medium was very generous! The creamiest, best flavored coffee ice cream I have ever had. Under $10. I will never be able to have coffee ice cream anywhere else. My pup had a generous cup of whipped cream. She devoured every drop. I just love Holy Cow. I will battle that their ice cream trumps other local favorites. Their cookie sandwiches are big! I like to bring them home and split in half so I can have 2 days worth. Love the ice cream and sundaes here, but what is it with the attitude? I come here fairly often and rarely have a pleasant ordering experience. Last week I got a sundae and the young person and they put the butterscotch on top of the whip cream. When I asked them to take the whipped off and just resauce and whip it the said "that's the way we do it here". Huh? After about three minutes of back and forth they took the sundae , threw it in the trash and made me a much smaller one with the smallest amount of butterscotch. When I pointed this out they said, " I was being generous with the first one, this is how we are supposed to make them". Dunno, will keep going but please hire people with a modicum of maturity and give them some supervision. read more

Crazy mega delicious ice cream! Arrived at the Willows full of fish and chips but we split a two-flavor medium cup of Mintsanity and Nutty Butty anyway, and didn't regret a single amazing bite. They're very generous with the mixed in stuff, like regular and golden Oreos in the Mintsanity, and (somehow still crispy?) nutty cereal bits.
