When I arrived, I noticed that some customers were speaking Portuguese, which surprised me and made me realize it might be a Brazilian place. Since no one greeted us or helped us get seated, I went straight to the bar and politely asked if it was a Brazilian establishment. Being Brazilian myself, I felt excited because I thought I would feel at home there. However, when I asked, the bartender/waitress answered me very dryly, with a tone that made it seem like I was asking something obvious. I'm a very friendly person, so I just brushed it off and thought maybe she was having a bad day. I left my friend waiting while I went to the restroom and then came back to order a caipirinha. During that time, there was still no assistance. Eventually I managed to get the staff's attention to place the order. I tried to overlook the situation because she seemed to be the only one working, even though the place didn't have much movement. While looking at the menu, I noticed they had ceviche. I'm a big fan of ceviche, but I wasn't sure what style it was. Even though Brazilian cuisine doesn't have a specific traditional recipe for it, it's also not a very common dish in Brazil. So I politely asked the same waitress if she knew what style of ceviche it was. I explained that I personally don't like the Mexican-style version with avocado, tomato, and lots of spice. Without even really paying attention, as she kept making drinks, she responded with sarcasm and a mocking tone: "As far as I know, ceviche is Peruvian." She didn't need to be a culinary expert to answer my question. She could have simply asked me to check the description on the menu again. Instead, I felt disrespected by someone I had been polite and friendly to from the beginning. I told her, "I'm sorry, but there are different variations of the recipe. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the version that comes with avocado." Right after that, I also let her know that when you work with the public, you need to have at least a minimum level of respect for your customers, especially those who are part of the restaurant's target audience. Maybe the food is good, but after that experience I didn't even have the opportunity to try it. I drank the caipirinha she made -- which honestly felt like it was prepared without much care -- paid my bill, and still left a tip equivalent to the amount, because maybe she was just having a bad day. But I shouldn't have to turn a happy moment celebrating a friend's birthday into a stressful experience. It didn't ruin my night, but I definitely don't feel comfortable in places where customers don't seem to be treated with respect.

This is ultimately a true statement, if you have time. A table in the North End on most nights will have you waiting an hour plus at times **cough** Regina's and Giacomo's **cough**. Unfortunately, if you're a 9 to 5'er, time is not on your side. Sometimes, you need to run out and grab something good and eat at your desk. So what are our options? Order ahead at a restaurant, but if they get slammed (typically will be during lunch) you're stuck waiting God knows how long. You could get fast food, but you know you'll be dragging after. Hell, you might fall asleep during that 1 o'clock meeting with your team. You could go Grubhub or Doordash, but that's a coin flip if the food actually ever gets to you or you may find your delivery person eating your food right outside your building (yeah...it happened). Brick and mortar food stops can truly wreck your day, which is why I LOVE food trucks. Restaurant quality, quick, lots of options, winner. If you're a skeptic of food coming off a truck and you're in the Copley Square area or the Financial District, I implore you to track down Walloon's. One of the two best chicken sandwich places you can find in Boston (Walloon's and Saus in no particular order). It's a frigid cold day today and being out in it is the last thing I want. Walloon's makes it worth it though. Walking around the corner of Milk and Kilby and seeing the blue, white and dijon (looks dijon-ish?) colored truck warms me up immediately. They put out various chimis, ribs, salads, and sandwiches. Close your eyes and pick one if you need to, there is no wrong choice. I mix it up typically but I go for my fav on the list, The Pepper Jack Combo. I get my order and crank the power walk speed to 11 so I can get into this thing quick. Pop open the container, the clouds part and the angels start singing. I don't know what they do to their fries, but I could eat multiple orders, unseasoned. If you dip them in the Walloon's sauce they also give you, holy @*$! If they bottled that stuff and sold it in stores, I'd buy it. Now the sandwich - great bun with some squish but will hold everything together, no sogginess. The chicken is amazing and juicy, they use chicken breasts which I'm on board with. Breading is thin but crunchy, flavor is on point. Its covered in melted pepper jack cheese, gives the chicken a deeper dimension. Under the chicken and cheese are jalapenos, provides the perfect kick and a subtle after burn. Under THAT is more Walloon's sauce which is tough to describe. Its like a sweet honey mustard mayo kinda thing, its good so eat it. Empty container, single tear. It's so satisfying a feeling being full of great food, which is what Walloon's puts out.
