Holy Hands sent a mentally ill drug addict prostitute thief to take of me after having severe pneumonia and being hospitalized for weeks. Paula Roman was the caregivers name. You may recognize her name from news reports. She was on the news for being on probation for drugs and having over 120 guns and home made explosives in her home. Paula Roman told me herself that she was homeless, mentally ill, and a prostitute. The thief part I figured out for myself when I found out she was stealing from me.
Barbara the owner of the company, told me that Paula had passed a background check. That was a lie. I did a quick search online and discovered that Paula had been arrested over 30 times in Monterey County and had an outstanding warrant for her arrest while she was in my home.
Paula had severe memory impairments. She could not remember things an hour later. She did bad things while at my home. She used the same dish cloth to scrub my toilet and cat litter box as she did on my dishes. I found her using the cloth on the floor and then wipe a plate with it. I told her not to do that and gave her a new cloth to use for dishes. Well, I found out the hard way, I was too late. I got very sick and had to be on antibiotics for a month due to the severe infection I got from dishes washed with soiled cat litter from using the same dish cloth for both.
Paula was stealing from me. I started meals on wheels the same day that Paula started working for me. I didn't know how much and what food they delivered because she carried in the house and put it away and served me. After she was fired, I discovered she had been eating more than half of my food. She was eating the sandwich, salad, soup, cereal, milk, dessert, and fruit that was delivered every day. She left the hot meal for me but ate everything else. She also stole food from my pantry.
She also stole my cosmetics, skin care products, hair dye, toiletries, and other miscellaneous things. I found the opened empty packages in my trash for items that shouldn't have been opened. The items were not in my house because Paula had removed them from the boxes to make room for them in her purse and pockets to take them without me seeing that she had them.
Weeks after Paula was fired, I found out that she had stolen every piece of jewelry my dad made for me. My dad had designed and made me one of a kind necklaces bracelets, and earrings with real gemstones and 14k gold or sterling silver. My father can no longer make jewelry. They were priceless to me and very expensive. I cannot replace any of those pieces. My father is almost blind now and that kind of thing is beyond him.
Paula was dangerous to have in my home. One night, it got very cold. I decided to turn my gas wall heater on for the first time. I was going to just turn it on and go to bed. I decided that it needed to be dusted first and swept out. I removed the cover from my wall heater. I found that my slippers had been stuffed inside. They were stuck right where the flames for the gas heater are. Paula had told me many stories about having started fires. She had fallen asleep smoking and her cigarette set the couch on fire. She had left food unattended on the stove and the kitchen caught on fire. She did something that started the fire but because she had woken people up and got them out of the house or put out the fire, she was a hero. It was important to her that she was a hero. She told many stories about being a hero. Every story had her cause a dangerous situation and put people in danger but to Paula, she was a hero. I do think that Paula put my slippers in my wall heater to start a fire. That she was going to once again be a hero and rescue me. That I had told her I no longer needed her to work for me daily because I was feeling better. I think that Paula really wanted a job and to keep her full time hours. That she thought if she rescued me, I would keep her. I had told Paula that she could not smoke around me because it makes me sick and I had oxygen in the house and that was a fire hazard. I was on supplemental oxygen. Paula was going to make me sick from smoke and keep her job. I am very thankful that at the last minute, I did not just turn the heater on and go to sleep. I was very tired and still suffering from pneumonia. Cleaning the heater was a great chore for me. I did it because I thought the smell of burnt dust would make me sick.
Do not hire Holy Hands to care for your elderly or sick family members. They lie about background checks and send dangerous people to your home. I had specifically asked about background checks and was told that everyone had one and passed. That was a lie.
