Here we go again and this is the reason why Holy Name Hospital has such a low rating! Back in August 2025 my son responded there after being in a motor vehicle accident and bumping his head just to get checked out to make sure he was fully OK The waiting area for the emergency trauma section was not terribly busy but he had waited nearly an hour to be seen. After being brought into the nurses station area they took his pulse and his blood pressure and were taking his temperature when the nurse walked away and did not come back for over 15 minutes with the thermometer in his mouth. When she did she went to do something else from what he says and didn't respond back to him for nearly 20 minutes at which time he got up and left because in his terms it was unreasonable to be treated in that manner especially after hitting his head and something could've been seriously wrong with him. After a month and a half we received a notice from the hospital billing that they were not paid for a $600 bill so at that time we submitted the bill to our insurance company GEICO and we began to have issues because Holy Name refused to submit the appropriate bill with itemized services so that GEICO could appropriately pay the bill. This went on two more times with the HOSPITAL refusing to submit the proper bill. In early December 2025 for the second time I contacted my auto insurance company GEICO who took holy names phone number in personally contacted them and my adjuster Joelle assured me that the bill would get paid because she had spoken to holy name. Fast-forward to April seventh 2026 and now my son is getting bills from a legal team collections stating that holy name was never paid and they are collecting for them well you have to contacting GEICO they advise me that after two person the person called phone calls the hospital still has not submitted an itemized bill for them to pay otherwise they would've paid it promptly. The insurance company explained to me that many times these bills are created in fraud and need to be verified and sent with the proper treatments with their codes so that the insurance company can pay them and holy name has been refusing so far to comply with the normal standards yet they're doing everything to avoid paying the bill in the appropriate manner meanwhile screwing my sons credit record up. read more

The emergency room is not like it used to be. Before you would come to the emergency room and be seen right away. Now you have to wait for hours. I'm here for chest pain. My first experience at Holy Name was great. My emergency C-section went smoothly, but it was a very dramatic and painful experience. The staff was caring, the nurses were amazing, and my husband stayed with me 24/7. The second time was very different. I had a scheduled C-section, and my husband wasn't with me 24/7 because we have a toddler at home. Instead of simply talking to me about why my baby was staying in a nursery that insurance billed separately for, the staff sent a referral to an advocate. That was unnecessary and dismissive. Not everything a postpartum mother does is postpartum depression. Sometimes it just takes listening. I still recommend Holy Name, but this experience left a distasteful impression. read more

While they helped with why I went to ER everything after was terrible I have paralysis and I was ignored using the call device I was directly in front of the nurses station calling them for them and they were ignoring me. It was so horrible. They also told me that I had a UTI, which I did not feel which means it was mild and what did they do? They hooked me up to IV antibiotic, and I looked that up, and it said that should only be done when the infection is severe. Why didn't they give me an oral pill for that rather than an intravenous antibiotic? I didn't need that that was wrong. I did not have a severe infection and then when I asked them to turn me to the side so I can rest on my side it became very uncomfortable and I called for them to turn me on my back and I was in this horrible twisted position for an hour and a half and they came into the room and left and then I used the call device and they were ignoring me like it was some kind of game. The place is disgusting. It needs a complete facelift. It looks so dirty and they are understaffed as I said while I appreciate that they took care of the reason I went there, but the aftercare was terrible and traumatized me and they lied on my chart saying that I had a condition that I don't have and that I was taking a medication for it when I never took any medication of that kind I'm on hardly any medication only one and they wrote on my chart that I was taking a very serious medication that I was never prescribed in my life. My sister was admitted to H9ly Name Hospital after having a seizure at home. I'm on Chemotherapy at Englewood hospital for Pancreatitic cancer!! The doctor called me to tell me she was ready for discharge while I was at chemo , I told him I was there for another two hours in the mean time my sister had another two seizures in the ER and no one reached out to me to tell me that and she was in ICU!! Went to pick her up in ER where the man at desk told me she was in ICU , so l called the hospital and asked to speak with my sister and they sent me to ICU nurse. I complained to her but she didn't care. Then I don't here from anybody until Monday afternoon the seizure happened Friday morning at 6 am to tell me she is being discharged and i need to pick her up! I told them I was nauseous and had diarrhea that I could not pick her up! They said they will send her home by ambulance , when the ambulance called me for payment of $110 I canceled them I would rather uber her than spend $110! Then the nurse tells me they don't have her seizure medication and the pharmacy was closed and she would call me back! Never got a call back until 8:30am Tuesday morning asking what time i would be picking her up! The social worker said it was because I canceled transportation nothing about her not having her medication!! We will never be going back to that hospital again!! And I'm a graduate from there Nursing School 40 years ago!! read more

If you can avoid this joint - do it! If you still have to go there - check the prices for their "services" in advance, otherwise you'll be unplesantly surprised. They provided Home Sleep Study for me (btw, the test looks like bogus and scam). I had to go there to pick up the "equipment" - the wrist bracelet (similar to smart watch) with attached sensor. Then I should sleep with it with a lot of restrictions. Then I had to return it for decoding. As result the doc told me that it's 50/50 Sleep Apnea - I might have it or may not. A month later I got a bill for over $800 after insurance discount. Are you serious?! The MRI test costs much less. And it gives you clear results, not 50/50. They should be called "Stay away for the Holy Name." read more

My sister was admitted to Holy Name Hospital on Friday February 13th because she had a seizure , she is also special needs. She was in the ER I had ton leave her there because I had to go to chemotherapy because I have Pancreatitic Cancer. The doctor called and said to pick her up she was being discharged told him I had 2 more hours in Chemotherapy and then I could pick her up. Went to pick her up and she was in ICU because she had another seizure. She was in hospital until Monday when they called me because she was being discharged and I was nott feeling well from Chemotherapy that I could not pick her up. They said we will send her home in an ambulance at a cost of $110 which I refused at 7:00pm. I called the Nurse's station and told them I would Uber her home was she ready , and the nurse said we don't have her new medication. so needless to say she spent another night there. The next morning at 8:30am the social worker called me to come pick her up but I was at work but I sent my husband. The nurse brought my sister down to Lobby without her coat! When I came home from work I asked where her wallet was , she said they never gave it to me. Called the Hospital repeatedly to find her coat and wallet , which they could not find either. then they tried to blame me for leaving her wallet with her. I could understand they could have put her wallet in the laundry but what about her coat? I will never send anyone to this hospital!!! read more

i had surgery at Holy Name last week and I loved my surgeon - Dr Sharyn Lewins but I also loved ALL THE NURSES who took care of my during my stay. I have been in numerous well-respected hospitals like Mt. Sinai and Cornell and I have NEVER experienced such good nursing care as I did at Holy Name. A couple years ago I was hospitalized at Holy Name. I was going through a divorce at the time. There were some problems with my insurance (my estranged husband canceled it illegally) nonetheless I was able to get it restored and contact them about it post discharge. Fast forward four years. They have their predatory law group come after me for payment. They want to attach my wages. It was a headache to deal with their lawyers. I assured them I had insurance. They persisted. I had to have the insurance company unarchive the EOB. Which showed that the bill had been paid. No apology in fact the law firm continued to harass me and file legal documents. this place is known for its abysmally long wait times. multiple times have i arrived for an appointment only to be turned away because of disorganization / miscommumication on their end. when i showed up for an appointment, it turned out they had registered me as the incorrect patient, so they told me to remake my appointment and come again another time. what?? more recently, after waiting five weeks to see a particular doctor, the day of my appointment comes and i'm left waiting in silence in an empty lobby. when i go to ask after half an hour, i'm told to keep waiting. another 30 minutes pass, and i'm told to keep waiting. turns out, the doctor i was scheduled to see wasn't even working that day, so i was waiting for no one. the staff is at least friendly, so there's an extra pity star. read more

Absolutely awful HR staff. My boyfriend applied for a position to work as a security guard at Holy Name and they took over 2 months to send him through the paperwork/ background check process. Today, they rescinded their offer of employment to him and blamed him for "not filling out everything on time" when he did with them, the background check company Hireright, and called multiple times to confirm information was received over the course of this last month. Sandra Graham (Sandy) is unprofessional, disrespectful, and has a negative attitude. She did not help my boyfriend with the hiring process at all, blamed him for everything, and cancelled his background check. He tried explaining to her that he submitted everything on time and asked how he could fix the situation and she didn't listen. He spoke to her supervisor Jennifer Vargas who is just as disrespectful and said the offer remains rescinded because they gave him a deadline he didn't meet (not true). Such a waste of time. The whole process took over two months, going on 3, and I'm not even sure the HR department wants to hire people at this rate, seeing that this has happened to another person who applied there who left a Yelp review 3 months ago (Rhoda K.). We found Rhoda's review and sent that to Jennifer and Sandy, explaining that Sandy had done this before to someone else, but Jennifer did not believe my boyfriend/ this story. Had a scheduled same-day surgery. It all happened within a week. My personal experience was exceptional. Everything from the pre-operation testing (2 days before) to the day of care was wonderful. I did not feel rushed to leave after my surgery, in fact..they kept me longer because I felt nauseous. The hospital was clean, the staff was attentive, and everyone made me feel comfortable. I've had experiences with other hospitals in the neighboring area and they do not compare. My doctor has a relationship with this hospital, so this is where the procedure was done. read more

I recently had major abdominal surgery due to a cancer diagnosis. The nurses pre surgery were lovely and kind, the doctor too - outstanding physician and human. Unfortunately my overnight stay in the ward was pretty awful... I got the sense that nurses were overwhelmed and unable to show simple kindness or compassion. I went without food for 36 hours because the liquid diet provided was not compatible with my religious needs but no one was that motivated to help me or even offer me tea. The training nurse Paola looked like she connected with me and felt bad for me . She very kindly ran to the lobby to collect the tea and hot water flask my husband brought over before visiting hours ...So there are still some kind nurses that care. And I really liked the pre-surgery nurses as i said ... At one point at midnight I could not access the bell as the previous nurse on duty put it behind my bed and my drip monitor had gone off . I had a very sore throat from being intubated so I tried to shout for help. I could hear nurses talking loudly outside my room but it felt like my cries for help were ignored. Out of desperation I phoned the hospital front desk with my mobile but I got thé voicemail?! I can't imagine how they would deal with an emergency? In the hospital? They were pretty inflexible about pricking me for glucose tests even though I frequently told them I have never been diagnosed with diabetes I take metfornin prophylactically.Nor have I been prescribed Insulin ever but the hospital thought I needed due to my metfornin. I refused it but I wait to see if I will be charged for meds I never needed or took.... I couldn't wait to leave go home where tea is at least easily accessible to me and I am not forced to fast for no logical reason read more

I arrived at the ER on Sunday afternoon. I had already done my testing (MRI, endoscopy/colonoscopy) elsewhere and was diagnosed with *rare* bile duct stones. I was having relentless attacks and became pretty sick by Sunday (not happy with the diagnosing doctor). The staff from the ER to the gastro dept. were wonderful. They treated me so well, for three days, through my ERCP, and my insomnia!!! This is not my first rodeo at this hospital because it beats the hell out of Hackensack!!! read more

I came to Holy Name to have my baby. The Maternal Fetal department was fine. Good service and nice staff. During delivery, the nurses and doctor were professional and caring. They knew how to do their job and kept me informed. Their biggest weakness is the POOR COMMUNICATION which is very important. Especially being new to the state. Out of the 5 messages I left, to different departments, with a staff, only 1 called back. And that's because I had to chase her, because my pediatrician was adamant that I return to the hospital. I ended up going elsewhere to have my needs taken care of. Another example, I had to bring my 2 days old baby to get blood drawn and couldn't leave until I got the OK from the results. I waited 2 hours!!! And that's because the staff in the lab started calling around to find out what was the hold up. I was the only patient in the room. Even the baby nurse leaving for the day was surprise to see us still waiting. I was told many reasons, doctor was being called, he left the building, he is delivering at the moment, etc ... I am relieved I don't have to return to the hospital. I will commend them for their COVID protocol. They take it seriously, equipped, and staffs are hands on to ensure every patient is well taken care of and safe. read more

ER Staff RNs are extremely insensitive. If they Know your really sick and exhausted, they will push you out of the bed even if you told them that you feel extremely dizzy and unwell, They just need to make room for the next assembly line patient, even if you have Neuro problems. They speak down to even though that they don't know your well educated and well employed. You can't go there alone, they think that they entitled to speak to you if they're doing you a favor just for taking your blood pressure. I found them to be lacking with respect and compassion. If they are unfamiliar with a Diagnosis that you have, They think they know you don't have such an unfamiliar diagnosis. They need to go back to school and learn how to treat kind patients who aren't feeling well with respect rather than an inconvenience to them. very sorry I came to this ER but Englewood Hospital Is Wonderful. They make you get undressed but give you a hard time about providing you with a plastic bag for all your paper work, valuables knowing that your sick and won't be able to keep all of your important article together. read more

I am thrilled by the care I've received by the staff at the Breast Center, the staff in Radiology and everyone I speak to when I call. Yes, I am sometimes on hold for a bit but I understand how busy they are. Their COVID -19 protocol is of the highest standards. Just a few of the wonderful people at Holy Name who made me feel very comforted during procedures. The worst understaffed hospital. I had Sepsis and the care was horrible. They were short staffed, and had a psychiatric patient on the same floor.Acrisis was occurring so the already short staff problem was made worse by the nurse having to engage with security. There was loud music playing from a television, I heard another person complaining. The nurse told her it was a young person and they were bored. No one bothered to reconnect my IV, I couldn't sleep because of the commotion. I was so uncomfortable and feeling so weak. I left to go to Cornell. The nurse yelled at me to get back in bed, she threatened me and said, maybe you need a psych evaluation, and if you leave your insurance won't pay and I won't give you any records. Luckily staff from management came;, gave me my records, and told me that the insurance would cover the stay. I went directly to Cornell and my condition improved rapidly. I finally got sleep and my antibiotics vured the seosis. On my discharge it mentioned I was a cooperative and pleasant pat7. Holy Name needs to make changes. read more

For years I have questioned how this hospital has stayed open. It's clear that due to location they are a go to but quite frankly, Hackensack and Englewood Hospital would be the preferred if you seek better care. The nurses here are so poor in patient connection, they seem bored by your questions and concerns, they can't do math when it comes to measuring doses. I witnessed one step out the room to ask another how to do it - WOW!! The night nurses are just so tired and lazy; I watched a urine sample stay on a table for a whole HOUR after the patient who provided the sample was discharged. I watched the nurse come in and out the room multiple times and just left it. The doctor that started our care was not the doctor that finished out care, her time was up and she clocked out and got the hell out of there. No goodbye, I'm leaving you in the care of new doctor, nada. The doctor that took over was so damn spaced out, he spoke like a doctor directly out of med school, " so yea, your labs were clear, you have this Dx, but just continue what you're taking now. Hold tight, and we'll get you out of here." Holy Hell, are you for real man. I will not return here, ever again, I will take the extra 10-15 minute drive to either of the aforementioned hospitals. read more

Watch out your pockets! They overcharge and bill you like crazy! I sent numerous letters, by mail and by fax about overcharging and they were pretending that hey never received it. In some point I got a verbal confirmation (even I've got the fax machine confirmation) that they got my letter, and when I asked how many day are you going to answer to my letter, the response was: "we will contact you when we will review it". Today I came in with severe leg pain, I was one of 4 people in the ER and was made to feel like I was the only one there! The bedside manner was excellent. RN Rylan and PA Rachel were warm and helped me to relax. They had me laughing so much, I forgot I was in pain for a while. I was super confident that I would be taken care of and I was made to feel like a VIP patient. Service unmatched. Thank you to the ER team at Holy Name, you guys are the real MVP's!!!!! read more

The outpatient services are extraordinary! Radiology and cancer treatment staff are observant, responsive, proactive and compassionate- oftentimes beyond the call of duty. Todays visit for X-ray was quick and caring, they even walked me to the elevator after the Xray ( and i'm perfectly mobile and capable). This is, i am sorry to say, a stark contrast to their inpatient services. Inpatient staff are hurried, unresponsive and even rude and do not document in a precise way which can really complicate insurance reimbursement. read more
