I was in this neighborhood a couple of months ago with one other person. We initially planned to go to Miriam next door, since the other person had been to the Upper West Side location and enjoyed it. Still, they were working on it, so we decided to go to their sister, more casual spot instead, with me, in hindsight, being happy because I liked this more than Miriam (at least the UWS location.) The place is casual, with a warm and inviting atmosphere, and I can see it being very popular for lunch or brunch. The service was friendly as well. We both decided to get the Israeli Experience for $32 each, though they warned us it was a lot of food and we could split it. We did indeed take home some leftovers, and it was a terrific deal. Said experience is a comprehensive sampling of their menu, featuring two skewers, five salads, hummus, tahini, and two pitas, served with a choice of yellow rice or French fries, with the salads and skewers being our choice from the menu. Since we were going to share a few cold mezzes/salads, we decided to get fries and rice. The fries were well portioned, with a light crisp, while some were a bit soft. I found the rice, as expected, to be a better accompaniment, as it's lighter and goes well with the sauces. The pita bread was warm but standard and presumably store-bought. For the salads, our favorite of the bunch was probably the Spanish Eggplant, listed as fried eggplant tossed in tomato & pepper sauce. This was very similar (if not the same) as Turkish Soslu patlıcan, so I'm not sure why it's listed as Spanish unless they're Spanish eggplants or something. All naming aside, this was very tasty, with the eggplant both very garlicky and soft, but not too much that it lacked texture. I also liked the Moroccan Carrot, listed as thinly sliced carrots cooked & marinated in Moroccan spices. I have seen this in a few Moroccan places, such as in Astoria, and this was good. The carrots were soft, and the spice blend had a slight tang among other flavors. I would also recommend this. I am not usually the biggest fan of Israeli Salad, which is made here with chopped cucumber, tomatoes, scallions, parsley, and za'atar lemon vinaigrette, but this was good. I believe there was a bit of tahini or something similar in the dressing, which made it a bit more flavorful than the usual version, and all the vegetables are very fresh. This was better than expected and good. The Hummus was pretty good. I like some other spots with thicker hummus or a bit more kick, but it was still tasty. The same can be applied to the Tahini, which was standard but good. More standard and tasty was the Purple Cabbage. Nothing particularly special, but it was good, and they appear to have updated since I had it last, adding beets and roasted sesame seeds, which sounds like a pleasant addition. The Kale and Dried Apricot Salad with winter kale, dried apricots, and roasted almonds dressed with house vinaigrette was fine. I'm a bit biased here as I don't like kale, but there were plenty of crunchy almonds. However, I wish there were more apricots, and the dressing didn't mask the kale as much as I'd like. I wasn't a fan of the Corn Salad with grilled corn, red pepper, and jalapenos. The dish should probably be served warm, since the cold grilled corn had an unappetizing texture and flavor when mixed with the pepper. It reminded me a bit of a dip gone wrong. This was easily my least favorite, and neither of us finished it. The skewers were pretty good but more standard. In terms of options, each of us got a Harissa Salmon, he chose a Chicken Thigh, and I got a Ground Beef & Lamb Kofta. The fish was surprisingly tender, but I found the harissa to be only very mild, which was a bit surprising given how red the dish looked. He seemed to enjoy his chicken skewer, while the kofta was alright. I have had much more flavorful kofta before, but at least it wasn't dry, with the meat being pretty juicy. The "experience" reminded me of a much better version of Kashkaval Garden in Hell's Kitchen, minus the fondue, of course. It's essentially the same price point as getting the salmon from there, but it has many pluses. The side dishes are much better and more varied, the skewers are smaller but much more tender and less overcooked, and the portion size is much larger. This doesn't even include the large portion of rice or salad, which isn't included there. I didn't love everything here, but it's hard to deny this deal, especially in this fancy neighborhood. read more

I love variety and the Israeli Experience combo here comes with two skewers, two pitas, and TWELVE salad/mezze options. I had so much fun trying all the salads (really enjoyed the roasted tomato/eggplant/vegetable ones). It kind of reminded me of a nice spread of Korean banchan. I did feel a little guilty about all the plastic delivery containers that were used, so next time will perhaps go and dine in person. read more

Brought my family from out of town last Saturday night, excited to share the food and experience at Miriam's. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. It was busy and there were 2 waitresses in our section. We ordered pretty quickly and got the delicious warm pita and hummus/baba. The lager was flat and the waitress rec'd another one. Waited quite a while and asked again. We were seated next to the bar, and she put the order in. Another waitress came by and we asked for another beer. Waited for both. Waited quite a while for the entrees. Meatballs, 2 schnitzel, salmon and pasta. Loved the meatballs(3), pasta was good, salmon en papillote was tasty but a tiny portion on a bed of 3 stems of raw asparagus, and the schnitzels were a lot of food but both people who ordered them felt 'meh' overall, somewhat tasteless. Had to ask for the beers a 3rd time. What happened to this place?? Service and food used to be perfect. Disappointing. read more

So, I'm giving Miriam's Street Food 5 stars...despite: Being owned by an Israeli doesn't make a restaurant Israeli. I didn't get the feeling of sitting in cafe in Tel Aviv (which was our expectations). Delicious, fresh mediterranean with lovely indoor seating and plenty outdoors, too I was eying the menu from the window and one of the men behind the counter waved me in with a smile so I obliged The server was very friendly and attentive. I went for lunch on a Friday and it was quiet when I walked in, but several people came in after me. The lunch special is great because you get a super soft pita, choose your kebab- I picked the mushrooms, which were yummy - and pick several sides. Everything was fresh and tasty. The hummus was especially good and creamy with plenty of tahini in it. I enjoyed everything and will definitely be back! read more

The line was outrageous for brunch at Miriam, but there was surprisingly no wait at their casual spot next door. Pretty similar brunch menu, and the food was still awesome. Miriam has been a staple of the Park Slope restaurant/brunch scene for over a decade, so I was excited to see they added an extension restaurant for their fast casual concept. The space is beautiful (indoor and outdoor seating). I ordered their signature chicken shawarma bowl. It was a TON of chicken. It also came over freekah with oyster mushrooms, kale salad, roasted tomato and onions. All delicious. I wish it came with some sort of hot sauce though. Could've also used more freekah to go with the large chicken portions, and I barely spotted any mushrooms, but still a good meal (almost enough for two meals actually). I like the roasted veggies, though my onion was a bit on the over-charred side. Great addition to the neighborhood! read more

Wow, great value for what you get. Good to-go on a lunch break or busy evening: Fresh and delicious Mediterranean food. I am a Skewers fan. UPDATE: went back again and got "the Israeli experience"... man was it an experience. 2 skewers + an array of salads and dips. I got the steak and shrimp kabobs, then I added the corn elote style kabob. It was all SO good. Reminded me of Sunday dinner with my Lebanese family. Planning on coming back with a group so we can take advantage of the A la carte skewer ordering and have feast. The wine selection is pretty cool too. read more

Homemade by Miriam is a great casual dining option in Park Slope. We sat inside and not only was the interior decorated beautifully, but we were also almost immediately served water with mint and a small bowl of pickled veggies. I ended up ordering the chicken shawarma platter with mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked very well and the mashed potatoes were the perfect texture and flavor. There are also some great vegetarian options as well - I tried some of the mushroom shawarma and it was perfectly spiced and cooked. It's so hard to find a real middle eastern restaurant in this area of Brooklyn. The good restaurants are usually in Williamsburg or lower Manhattan. This is the real deal, just like eating in Israel. The chicken kebabs melt in your mouth. The salads and hummus are so fresh. The homemade lemonade was made with fresh mint and lemon. I love that it's street food, which lends it to be small plates to share. The cafe is white, modern, and trendy. One of the best spots in Park Slope. read more

I feel like this is still an undiscovered gem. We're so used to seeing the main Miriam restaurant and automatically going there, that we didnt bother to try this place. Honestly, I now prefer Miriam Street Food. Much bigger menu with greater variety and more of the flavors I love. My son went first with a bunch of kids for a birthday and was raving. So I went with the family last night and holy crap, its going to be my new go-to. Portions were enormous (I should have kept half for a second meal, but was too busy devouring it like an animal that I am) especially considering the price. On warm evenings in Park Slope, nothing tastes better than food that's flame grilled, savory, and full of flavor. I sat in one of the comfortable tables outside with beautiful foliage---look it's plastic, but that doesn't mean it isn't nice---and enjoyed a meal with a few of their new, signature skewers and plenty of salads. I've gone to Miriam's flagship restaurant before, but have never found the time to stop by Skewers. Thankfully, my friend was late before we were to meet up for Kendrick Lamar at the Barclays Center. Today I held a Memorial for my late husband at The Picnic House in Prospect Park.Miriam provided the food. Every dish was delicious many complements on the Branzino and stuffed peppers. Best hummus ever. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to help us. They obtained an extension cord for the zoom and paper plates for my observant friends.Dessert and coffee Baklava and cookies were gobbled up.
