Never coming back here. Bought my first water pipe from this place & was sold a piece with it that didn't go & as a result wouldn't bubble when being used. The lady that works there did not inform me of this & sold it to me with no shame. It was very overpriced compared to other people's I've seen in other shops I've visited since then. & not for a good reason either bc the color has since peeled off when I cleaned it out. I also purchased a small raw tray & it was rusty on the bottom as if if was sitting on water for a while. Too overpriced for crappie merchandise. & the staff is of no help. read more

Horrible experience at this place. When I arrived, there was another customer and the attendant was on the phone the whole time without even making eye contact. I went there to buy lottery tickets and due to an error on the card, the LOTTO system overcharged it. I requested to cancel or fix it and the attendant became aggressive, started yelling at me ("F" you, get out) because he said that it could not be done. I paid what the system charged for and left. Holy Smoke is my "go-to" smoke shop. I only buy Marlboro lights but they have a huge selection of cigarettes, cigars and other accessories for the discerning smoker and prices are competitive. The staff here is excellent! Wally and Sammy are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and are always smiling and happy to see you! Not to mention they give my dogs treats when we stop by. Worst quality glass! If your looking for a quality glass headshop with decent prices go anywhere but here! I purchased this banger after the guy working did a lot of convincing and lowered the price by $2. Makes sense since this china glass banger spontaneously cracked not even while being used! They are way too overpriced and make it seem like they are hooking you up but at the end of the day, their glass is cheap quality and they have a very small section. Nothing wrong with customer service until you try to tell them about a problem with there cigars. No exaggeration to say half the products are disgracefully crumbly, too dry to smoke, there temp control is a bad joke...I've even seen bugs in there infesting the merchandise. I returned a pack of five cigars immediately a year ago, no problem, instant store credit once I showed them the problem. Last month I tried to return a cigar, no big deal, a week after I paid about $10 before tax. Stonewalled. They always acted friendly like they recognized me before, now I got interrogated and accused of trying to get credit on a cigar I didn't purchase there. Ridiculous behavior. I came back the next day because they claimed the owner would be in, same poor service and refusal to make amends for their badly treated, faulty merchandise. Not to be dramatic, but you guys just lost a customer who's been shopping there on my regular rounds for years. read more

Ryan K. died in his apartment off University on June 3rd. We just received the autopsy and toxicology report from the Medical Examiner of San Diego. Ryan's healthy 30-year-old body was victimized by a bloodstream poisoned by Mitragynine, a powerful alkaloid, found in the plant Mitragyna, also known as Kratom. It is a coffee-like leafy plant grown in Thailand, where it is outlawed and punishable by the same laws as heroin and opium. It simply, is not recognized in the U.S. for it's dangers, and not outlawed. It causes some euphoric release, as well as disorientation, psycho trauma to the brain chemistry, etc. So, of course, it is sold in headshops, like Holy Smoke, as a non-harmful, legal substitution for relaxation, and laying back. Ryan died on his bead, resting, fully clothed, after just buying groceries, from pulmonary edema, a condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs. The main toxin in his bloodstream was Mytragynine.
