The only church I've ever felt comfortable with and truly had anything near an incredibly impactful experience with is my sister's longtime "church of choice" (sorry guys, I'm not a theologian!), Cornerstone. Pastor Linn's sermons have always been impactful and I have gotten so much from them each time I'm in Phoenix visiting and attend church with my baby sister. It's a fun dynamic experience I never knew existing as a lapsed (sorta - went maybe a dozen times growing up) Catholic. And I cannot begin to describe the impact of Cornerstone on my sister - truly has been a life changing experience for her in the most positive sense. As far as the experience, I'm not sure what more anyone could want? Great music, incredibly well executed audio-visual, and pristine, very impressive brand new facilities (great coffee shop and gift shop in Libby - mind boggling when I first saw this place, it was fun to attend a church?!). Pastor Linn was approachable with thousands of attendees; the man remembers who I am whenever I say hello. I live in New York City, but I get to Arizona 6-8+ times annually. He asks about details so well I'm always surprised, special guy. Obviously, highly recommended....indeed I can't recommend Cornerstone enough. We came in "comparing" churches and not really listening to God, at first. We loved Cornerstone. Since then we have now become a family of 5. We love the worship, we love the teachings and all of the various small groups. IF you don't get involved, IF you just sit and watch everyone else, you will stunt your Christian walk. We just celebrated 21 years of being in Arizona, our home AND Cornerstone. We become as active in all of the volunteer activities as we can. We don't love Cornerstone because it is a "Mega" church; we love Cornerstone because it is many churches within a "Mega" church for all ages. Grateful that we listened to God. Sunday service is always nice, but I can't help wondering if this church is in friendly competition…read morewith the one next door--it's been growing like crazy and even added a café and coffee shop, which is pretty cool! I don't make it every single Sunday like I used to, but I'm working on getting back into the routine. Even when I'm not in the building, I tune into the podcast--so technically, I'm still there! There's plenty of onsite parking and lots of programs to get involved in. The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming, but what I love most is the diversity of the congregation. There's an incredible amount of young adults that go to their church which was awesome to see. The reason I give only 3 stars is because of the children's ministry. They were super friendly when I was dropping my 2nd grader off for the first time, but when I picked him up, I was bummed to see him sitting alone and no teachers around him. I was a bit late to get him, because I was talking, but I have served at many churches and no matter how late the parents are, the volunteers do not leave the children. He wasn't the last kid picked up and completely alone, but in the 2nd grade "area" it was just him with no adults. Also when we were walking out, the person I gave my tag too kind of ignored us and when I said thanks and goodbye, she just continued to talk to her friends that were nearby. So in a way I felt like people were kind and friendly, but not as welcoming as I hoped for a first time person. Wanting to try the church again and hopefully it will feel different next time.

There are a lot of opportunities for community at New Valley. We have regular women and men's events, as well as a robust children's and youth ministries. I personally have enjoyed attending our women's retreat and spring fling. I have made my closest friends through serving at the church and being part of my gospel community group. I went to a few of their Bible studies right away I could see that it was a therapy group, so I was…read morenot very interested in investing my time and money there, especially when a very religious person handed me a small Idol, looked like a cross said it would bring me luck. What? Luck, huh, maybe these people are Mormon and Christian mix (many of them are around, watch out!) one of the guys asked me a whole bunch of very personal questions right in front of the group and then dropped the ball and gave judgement, wow, that was totally unfair at this point It was clear to me that this was therapy 101 and not a Christian group.
