I ended up stopping at Holyoke Mall to mall explore. It's three floors, with the bottom level (basement), providing a food court and also Burlington. The mall looks pretty active, far from considered a dying mall, and definitely not dead. I saw a couple of empty spaces which gives an indication. Some stores stood out to me, one of them being Bob's Stores. I would have guessed the whole chain went to bankruptcy -- guess not? There were some other stores I came across that I don't find in my home mall, which stinks to some extent. The variety is on its "A" game. If it wasn't too far, I wouldn't mind making this stop again. The parking lot is not paved at all, and also with a large amount of poodles in different areas. It would be great to see this addressed, which will up my rating. read more

I was at Holyoke Mall Monday, February 16th, day before the fire. I reported to the Holyoke Mall Management Office the foul smell of sewage and gasses in both the Food Court area and the Mall area outside JCPenny. I have to question the true cause of the fire the following night, as I was told by workmen prior to this that the Mall is built on a landfill and without proper monitoring of gasses emitted by a landfill, the Mall could be prone to fires and possible explosion. What's also concerning is that this Mall is so poorly maintained. I don't think I'll be shopping there again, ever! read more

Gross! It doesn't matter how many stores you have or how nice you try to portray in the common area, if the restrooms are gross you're sucking at your job. Every time I've been to this mall and had to use the facilities it's been nasty and unacceptable. Never seen anyone in the restrooms cleaning or maintaining them either, which shows you where restrooms are on their scale of priorities. And what's the deal with the up escalator by JC Penney! Four times I've been here in 6 months and this escalator has never worked. Makes you wonder how this mall is still open. Maybe it shouldn't be open. Get your sh!t together Holyoke Mall. read more

There's a video game store in this Mall. Without telling the name, you should be able to know what store that is. I was suggested to go to that store to trade-in an original old game x-box 360. Surprisingly, I was told the x-box power even wasn't on when one of the staff checked. So the trade-in wasn't successful. When I came back to home and checked the X-box, its power's on here. Might be the big guy walked from back of the store didn't want the store to take this X-box. That's why he said that to reject this x-box? I don't know why I was suggested by another local video games store to this Holyoke Mall video game store for this trade-in. There could be some this Holyoke Mall video game store may have offered to other clients but not me. This seems like kind of discrimination out there in this video game store. If you're looking for a decent place to shop for clothes shoes and other things. This mall is pretty convenient in distance for those who live nearby the area. Has a good variety of stores ranging from Victorias Secret, Finish Line, Journey's, Hobby Lobby, Bath and Body Works etc.The mall is always kept clean on a regular basis especially with COVID parameters. This mall also has a decent food court as well. Of course there could be some more options for stores and definitely is a little pricey on some of the product but it is definitely a place to get a majority of shopping done during the holidays. This mall immediately comes across very dated, like a sad 1980's time capsule with all of the blond wood and brass everywhere. The food court looks right out of the 1985 movie "Commando". As I was eating my lunch, I was expecting to see Arnold Schwarzenegger swinging through like Tarzan, right before he beats up 20 security guards. Another annoying feature is that the mall has a road that rings the outside of the parking lot, making it hard to get to the actual mall. You feel like you are orbiting around the place like a satellite around the Earth. Very frustrating. However, as I was eating lunch, I thought about things a bit and realized that this mall was not all that bad. Yes, the place was very dated looking, but it was very well maintained - it was not falling apart. And, although it was a Thursday afternoon, the mall was busy and the stores all seemed to be buzzing with customers. Hey, they have a Williams-Sonoma - so if people in the area are prepared to pay $300 for a frying pan, the mall can't be that bad. read more

This is a very old mall, but not yet on the website deadmalls.com but Im not sure why not. Although, to be fair, it is all occupied and it was busy when I was there last. Parking was difficult, but that may be because some was blocked off, I assume for improvement/upgrade. Its a HUGE mall, and has Macys next to DSW, so a little bit of everything. There is even a Post Office here. You can get your haircut, mail some packages, do your banking, buy cookies, find formal wear for your party tonight, and then get matching shoes. When I was younger this was the premier mall in the area and the go to place to shop after Eastfield and Fairfield and Hampshire Malls. It was considered the ritzy mall in the area and had all the cool stores, the large anchor stores and the best place to go find what you needed. What the heck happened? I mean I occasionally come back to visit family in this depressing dismal area and stop into this mall since it is the only thing to do in this area which has no attractions or any single alluring factor about it. This mall has not cool stores in it anymore and is barely hanging on to the anchor stores. There are no name brand stores and a wood carving store?? They tried to spruce the place up adding a trampoline place, Planet Fitness and a kids jungle gym place but that didn't help so they added a huge arcade and bowling alley. The food court here has abandoned food places and a terrible selection, Macy's is barely hanging on and Best Buy and Target are the only places holding this nasty mall together. The place is crowded because there is nothing else to do in Western Mass besides drinks and sleep. This place should be condemned. read more

What a fantastic mall this was, far better than anything we have in Boston. This mall features 3 floors of almost every store you can imagine. I highly recommend eating at "Greek Place" in the lower level food court, the spinach pie was delicious. I think the best aspect of this mall is Round One Bowling and Amusements on the second floor. It is a MASSIVE place that is packed wall to wall with mostly high tech, interactive, new-school arcade games PLUS a beautiful bowling alley. I bet this place is a real hit on the weekends. However, similar to Dave and Busters, beware of these types of arcades as they tend to be expensive. read more

I actually really like Holyoke Mall. I like it because I can always find parking and the mall pretty much the usual stores that you would expect at a mall. Overall, it's also pretty well maintain. There was however one time when someone dropped some ice cream on the floor and it was not tended to for the duration of my whole visit. Well definitely continue to come here if I'm in the area. Honestly not my favorite place to travel to as I'm much closer to many of the same stores in Enfield, CT and I dread the traffic around Springfield because of the I-91 off ramp modifications being made for the new casino. Nonetheless, there are many more stores there than in Enfield, hence; I go reluctantly. Parking is always very easy unless it is around Christmas Season but even then I manage to find a convenient spot. Sears, JCP, Macys, Christmas Tree Shop, Best Buy are a few of the reasons I brave the traffic cluster. When you figure the delay in travel time, I find shopping at Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester, CT about the the same travel time these days. In most instances Holyoke is probably more convenient despite the traffic so for now they remain on the list. read more

North, and to the east of Westfield, MA sits the town of Holyoke, MA, and that's where you'll find the Holyoke Mall which is the closest indoor shopping mall to Westfield. If you travel as much as I do, you learn to appreciate nice indoor shopping malls since they give you a chance to stretch your legs after a long day of sitting in meetings. You'll find the Holyoke Mall right off US 91 running north out of Hartford, Connecticut, and a few exits north of the Mass Pike in an area known as the "Crossroads of New England". Even though this mall is a bit dated in terms of décor, the place is spotless and filled with shops like Best Buy, Target, Macy's, Apple Store, JC Penny, Sears, Sports Authority, and a Burlington Coat Factory all under the roof. In addition to the standard outdoor parking there was also a covered parking garage which must be nice in the dead of winter! The Holyoke Mall is two stories (or three if you count the lower level of Burlington Coat Factory and the food court), so there was lots of room to walk a few laps around the mall and take in some window shopping. I even found a few gifts at the Christmas Tree Store that I brought back to Florida. There is plenty to see, and lot of great bargains at this mall. I especially enjoyed the fact that everyone was super friendly and willing to chat for a few minutes as they helped me search for various items. I wish more businesses would learn this simple skill of customer service. read more

The Holyoke Mall isn't the best mall I have been to but for the area I have to say that they do a good job. This location has a ton of different stores that I enjoy shopping at, and generally shopping here is good. A few of my favorites are Christmas Tree Shop as well as Hobby Lobby. It is also nice that they have an Apple Store. A few critiques I have are that shopping here during the weekend can be a pain. The parking lot becomes a mess and the common areas are packed with teens hanging out. The food court is OK, but often the tables are dirty and some of the stores can be disorganized due to the amount of people entering and rifling through the items. Besides that, not a bad place to shop, especially if you are stopping in at some of the larger chains that have their own entrance. read more

I've been to many malls, since I'm a shopaholic, from the east coast to the west coast and the Hawaiian islands in the US. Also been to malls in beautiful Dubai (where there is a ski slope in the mall!), Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore... I can go on and on. I just moved here from Hawaii. This mall has a great selection if stores, but my all means it's a far cry from a five star mall. The mall is very dated and could use an upgrade. The stores in the mall are much smaller than I'm used to with really right isles. I just came from Hawaii, where space is truly limited, so I know what I'm talking about. I only went to a few stores, my fiancé is not a mall guy. I know I will frequent this mall, since it's fairly close to my new job and not far from my new house. It's fine if you stick with the anchor stores - Macy's, Target, Best Buy, even Christmas Tree Shops. Venturing into the mall proper is an unsavory experience, however. With third-rate merchants and shameless kiosk vendors hounding passersby, it's all kinda reminiscent of Bartertown from "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome." And the food court is a definite "two men enter, one man leaves" gamble, faintly smelling as if it might really be run on pigs' feces. This mall is an odious embarrassment. I waffled between 3 and four. The mall is not so bad - it's very big and has a lot of practical stores and you'll generally find what you're looking for, for everyday needs. Lots of sneaker stores, mid range clothing stores, and it does have an H&M (which I'm not a fan of but lots of people are). It's one of the few places with an Apple store around here. There's not much in the way of upscale shops, so for that you'll have to go elsewhere. There is no true high end shopping in the area, though. The food court isn't so bad and I actually like the smoothies at the bottom of the stairs. Nearby, outside the mall, there are other places like Barnes and Noble, Pier One, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. Bottom line: It's big, it's functional. Not bad. read more

I walked into this mall and it have me a horrible feeling to be here. It looked small, old, dingy, and crappy. Then after I passed the dental office and JC Penney, it started getting better. I had to do a training at Sephora and it was great that it was right next to Starbucks and Target!!! The cast members in the Sephora were so good and passionate!! There was also a guy in Starbucks that was really nice. Target is really a great store and it was cool that it was right there. I got food for my training at Pizzeria Uno, and my stomach is still suffering..ugh! Overall, I had a good experience. It's interesting how they combine big box stores with stores like Sephora and Mac. Who needs Macys and all the other passe department store crap. read more

It's slightly better than Buckland Hills Mall, but not better than Westfarms Mall. I love how this mall is getting a makeover, but do not visit on a Saturday! The amount of teenagers your going to see is insane! Stay far away as possible! They do have a good amount of stores and a food court! A long, long time ago this was the mall to shop at. I remember it being a really big deal if my dad was going to take us here. Well its not so great anymore. As I have gotten older I realize that all malls are basically the same. The Holyoke Mall is no longer the mall that it once was. My biggest disappointment is that they got rid of Kahaunaville. This mall has all your basic mall stores plus a Target, Bestbuy, and Christmas Tree Shop. The food court is not so great and you are left with little to choose from. We opted for the Chinese place seeing that it looked like the "best" choice. It was ok, nothing special. Parking is plentiful as the mall can be very crowded on the weekends. read more

Whoever designed this mall should be unemployed for forever. There are two very tiny elevators for a three story mall. The line to get on with strollers and children is always a long and frustrating one. I constantly see families taking their strollers on the escalators, much to the dismay of the security guards who are shouting at them not to. I wouldn't take that risk but I totally get it. I've waited in line to get on the elevator for over ten minutes on occasion. While the food court is fairly good, and I love Target, I usually avoid this mall at all costs and go to the Target in Enfield. It is just too frustrating to navigate this place. read more

Western Mass classic! If you grew up around here, chances are you went to the mall many times throughout your youth. There are things to be nostalgic about - the big open central area and skylight are the same as always. They have made some improvements, such as the sparkly new floors, which are lovely. The glass elevator is in dire need of a redo, as it hasn't changed in years and is pretty gross inside. It needs to be bigger to accommodate all the traffic it gets, or there needs to be another centrally located elevator. The selection of stores is great but could always be improved by adding new and diverse options. The food court leaves something to be desired, unfortunately. It would be great if there was something recreational to do at the mall, like a movie theater or skating rink. That plus better food options would really take the mall up a notch. read more

I spent the summer working at a summer camp in Becket, and this mall was a godsend! May have spent almost 5 hours here with the bf on one of our days off (oops!) but he was a really good sport about it! The Forever 21 was amazing, one of the best I've ever been to.
