I have shopped at Deals & Steals since they first opened in Easthampton then moved to Northampton in early 2,000. I don't shop there as often as I used to but was there yesterday and found them to be way over priced for a lot of outdated stuff. Plus there selection of goods was not great. This is a lesson in "Buyer Beware." DO NOT purchase anything from Deals & Steals unless you can afford to lose your money. I purchased a Clutch Charger and it is defective. Clutch Charger customer service says its Deals & Steals problem - Deals & Steals says it's Clutch Charger's problem. I understand the "all sales final" policy but this product is defective. There is NO help available from Deals & Steals, and NO help from Clutch and NO value in the product I paid for. Now I'm just stuck with it and it's too light to even use as a doorstop. Very random mix of stuff! I enjoyed buying wool socks for my child ($3 a pair) and browsing through shoes. I found Hokas for around $80/pair (usually retail $120+), Vionic house shoes for $35 (I paid $75 online), and Vionic flats also for around $70 (I paid over $100 for the same pair off ofAmazon). So - lets' say about 30% to 50% off of MSRP. They also carried shoes from brands like Sanita and Dansko. read more

Deals and steals is a Northampton institution. Almost everything is a bargain. They specialize in organic and natural foods, with a big selection of gluten-free stock as well. Sure, lots of the stuff is near or at expiration dates, but that's just a government reg that means very little for most foods -- for example chips, cereal, and inert stuff like baking ingredients and candy. I've also bought shoes at bargain prices here for years. Also, the turnover of stock is amazing. If you find a great bargain one day, stock up because it probably won't be there when you come back. read more

The glory days of this place may be over. There are a lot fewer items on the shelves over the last several months. Also, fewer "steals". One needs to shop carefully, as some items may be less expensive in the grocery or health food store. Like so many things post-pandemic, I miss the fun I used to have shopping here. read more

Do you like Whole Foods? Do you ever roll your eyes at how expensive everything is?!?! Imagine Whole Foods (well, no produce) with everything at least a third less expensive. Gourmet Chocolate, gluten free anything mix, baking supplies, all kinds of energy bars, cold case of 50 cent beverages, organic spices...much more. Your imaginings would be what Deals & Steals really is. Amazing. Did I mention they are also a discount clothing store? They get seconds from local retailers and discount name brand clothing from mall stores...Oh deals and steals. A foodie-girlie-dreamland. They recently opened a second location down the street from their original place. The original store now functions as a clothes and shoes only location, and there is even more space for the deals in the new store. If you're visiting the town, its worth going - when do you NOT need organic toaster pastries? Tons of Terra and Kettle Chips? Road Food! read more

This is now their clothing-only location... expanded into the old food aisles are more Dansko, North Face, Eddie Bauer and all manner of brand name offerings for significantly less than their parent stores sell them... the discount prices here are not quite as worthwhile as the Natural and Organic Food location but still worth a look... read more

The main street location closed 20 minutes early on a Saturday. If you're ever rushing to get here, don't bother.

This store changed locations. It used to be on Pearl St. in Northampton but moved to the corner of Pleasant and Pearl St. The staff is very helpful. And, there is one employee who is in possession of a radio announcer's voice. He showers you with his unique sense of humor which you may or may not get a few chuckles from. Either way he seems to be okay with it. He persists. And, he will also let you know when they all just want to go home by politely encouraging your departure when it gets close to closing time. He also makes sure everyone is aware of the price specials on shoes, snacks, etc. The inventory varies from day to day so don't get too comfortable if you see a stack of desired goodies that you want to return for at some later date or time. Stock up. They have chip deals, cookie deals, Asian condiment deals, canned seafood deals, nut deals, dried fruit deals, tons of chocolate deals, snack bar deals, hot drink deals, cold drink deals, bread deals, cracker deals, legume deals, spice deals, honey deals, health supplement deals, flour deals, sweetener deals, tomato sauce deals, cold drink deals and then there is the cleaning product section, the utensil section and apparel section.... The store adds a lot to the downtown area. You may or may not find your particular wants but it is an enjoyable experience. read more

I am disable in a wheel chair I loved going to your store when it was all at pleasant st. the store those was difficult to get into the was always boxes blocking the handicap entrance, i would have to move boxes to get most times i would never complain about. i would spend $20 or $50 when i would go there but on day a woman at the store started yelling at me because i came when the store was having deliveries that day, the way she yelled at in the middle of store i felt so humiliated i put what i was going to buy and rolled out the store i have not been back. read more

Very unprofessional owner with very little to offer people. They put an item for clearance and told me if I bought it at another store it would be 5 times more, I told them then I will buy 3 of them to sell on ebay. Then I find out they sell for the same price as the store. So the same day I went to return the item and they offered a store credit instead of cash. I tried to reason with the people at the cash register and they then got frustrated and told me to leave the store. I said that is stealing and if you make me leave before I get a chance find 250 dollars worth of stuff I will go to the police station. Next thing you know the owner calls the police on me and demand that they put a restraining order on me from the store from 2 years. The police apologized for their inconvenience. All the customers got sickened and left, very unprofessional. read more
