Home has quickly become our favorite restaurant! We live in Branford and have many restaurants around us to try, but we never seem to get to them because we always go back Home (pun intended). Last night my husband and I went for an early dinner and sat in their "living room" area. It's so comfy and inviting. We had the Bowl of Fries app and their homemade dipping sauces are delicious. For dinner I had the stuffed salmon and my husband had the buffalo Mac and cheese. Both were fantastic. My husband isn't a huge fan of spicy foods, but our server let him know it wasn't super spicy, and just had a kick. She was spot on. This was our second time returning and it was a complete 180. We love the idea of a restaurant that is dietary restriction friendly and they can pretty much make any meal GF or adjust to your needs which is was drew us there. We made a reservation for early evening and were immediately seated upon arrival. Not sure where we got lost in the shuffle but our server was not informed of our arrival and it took approximately 25 minutes for us to be greeted for an order, we were just getting up to leave as they came over. With the amount of employees walking about, you'd think someone would have acknowledged us. The food was okay. Great menu choices but just underwhelming presentation and delivery. The roasted oysters tasted super fishy which was odd. The 'blackened' ahi tuna was completely raw, not even seared, with crunchy and seemingly canned green beans were just not a good addition to the plates. The meal was just very under par. The service was apologetic for the delays which was nice, but we had to ask for our dishes to be cleared, and asked for the check (another 15 minutes of waiting or so). Our waitress gifted us a comped piece of chocolate cake for the troubles which was appreciated. Delicious! Came here for Father's Day for the first time and we'll be back again. I went there on a Sat. evening recently with my girlfriend to grab a bite before seeing a movie. We were seated in the front room where they have lounge-style seating. The main dining room with the fireplace was filled, but we felt lucky getting a table so fast. My girlfriend had the Home burger which was so huge she could not finish it. I had a delicious pork cutlet with fries. We both had drinks and the total was less than $50. Four of us ate at Home restaurant. Their theme for their kitchen is to elevate "home cooking." We sat in a spacious, comfortable dining room. We browsed the menu, which had interesting choices for appetizers, dinner salads, and entrees. They will honor one's dietary restrictions and /or food allergies. Three of us ordered their Home Burgers, the other, one of their "appetizers." Home's appetizers are copious portions which could serve as a dinner portion for many of us. The burger I had was done to order. The server served it to me, announcing, "burger without cayenne pepper." (My food allergy). I had it served with a side salad. Burger was nicely dressed 8 ounce patty on a kaiser roll. Plenty of food for a dinner portion. Nicely charcoal grilled, beefy flavor. Service was cheerful and prompt. They have a decent wine list by the glass. One quip- the focaccia bread wasn't focaccia but a portion of white bread. Home charges for a bread basket. Came here once when we were going to the Thimble Islands and needed a place to stop to eat beforehand. I think we let the Yelpers guide us on this one. We've been back 3 times since just because it's that good. They seem to focus on local ingredients including their beers and liquors, and they have just nice quality food with appropriate proportions. I hate getting too much food. It's a burden. Sandwiches burgers and sides. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Casual and comfortable. Highly recommending their Bloody Mary. Not sure if it's on the menu but it was perfect! A friend of mine and I tried home last night and were both pleased with the place. The front is half living room, half lounge/bar. We sat in the back b/c there was a live musician in the front and we wanted to catch up. The ambiance is nice, and does accomplish their 'home' theme. I had a half order of the spinach salad which was very nice. One thing I would say is that perhaps two smaller goat cheese balls would have been ideal. Yummy anyway. I ordered the sweet potato and apple soup. I was unclear about what I would get, and pleasantly surprised. I feel like it should be called a bisque b/c it has very thick consistency. It was delicious. My friend got the grilled cheese and tomato soup (very home-ish), and she liked it as well. I also got a small order of the mac and cheese. I was full so perhaps I couldn't appreciate it as much as I should have. I ordered the one with spinach and mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. I just didn't love it. It wasn't bad but it lacked something . . . I will say that the waiter recommended the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and I didn't take that suggestion, so next time I'm in town I'll go that route. We got dessert. A slice of the raspberry chocolate cake which was nice, tasted like actual fruit. We've had Take the Cake cake before so we did expect it to be good. We also tried the salted caramel ice cream (she liked it, I didn't love it) and the almond mocha which I really liked and she was ambivalent about. My favorite thing they always have is the New Old Fashion cocktail which is my favorite take on Old Fashioneds. We've been to Home a few times and are never disappointed when we go! We also spend half the time there brainstorming who we want to bring here if they ever visit. Home is a delight from the second you walk in the door. You can choose to sit at more traditional tables, or at couches, armchairs, and coffee tables. Very quaint and comfortable. The menu is really creative and changes seasonally, it seems, so there's always something new to explore. The waitstaff is great and truly make you feel like you're eating a meal and having a drink at home. We usually get one of the new appetizers to share, an entree, and a drink. Today, we shared the fried dough appetizer, I had the butternut squash Mac and cheese while Mike had the Korean dog, and I enjoyed the Ginger Spice cocktail. Really great place. Went in with my wife and a couple of friends on a Friday after a day at the beach and a brew at Stony Creek. Dining room was full so we sat in the "living room", all low tables with leather couches and chairs. Although I like sitting at a regular table to eat, it was pretty cool. I had the "new" old fashioned - a twist on the classic cocktail by adding amaretto. Fantastic. You can tell all of the food was freshly made. No prepackaged or frozen stuff here. We shared the avocado and corn salsa with homemade chips. For dinner, the hunan pork burrito (HUGE) with herbs and pickled vegetables. The service was perfect, attentive without being annoying. My favorite thing about Home, though, is how I feel when I'm there. We have been to my favorite restaurants Darbar India and Jalapeno Heaven numerous times and wanted to try something different. We didn't look like a sore thumb but I was uncomfortable with my black sneakers. No one gave us any uncomfortable looks but did feel this place might be a little on the "Fancy Shmancy" side. I did ask if this place was "Websters" in the 1990's which the bartender confirmed. I did recognize the fireplace. I did have an advantage over my girlfriend as I have been reading different reviews of this place for the last few weeks. I knew I wanted the "Home"-style mac & cheese. I ordered the full spicy buffalo chicken topped with blue cheese. It was $13.00. I loved it and talked about it for the next hour. I shared a picture of my meal on Instragram. One woman told me how awesome the smoked tomato, arugula and mushrooms one is. I am drooling now thinking of this. My girlfriend ordered the Veggie Wrap. It is described in their menu as "Home"made chickpea-quinoa patty, Manchego cheese, smoked tomato aioli, arugula and mushrooms in a whole wheat wrap. This was also $13.00. She did share. I did like their French fries. I prefer them a little burnt. I thought the Veggie Wrap was just okay. My girlfriend said in her review that the wrap lacked oomph. I do agree with this. I mentioned in the bar area how this restaurant was listed #1 of 130 for the Town of Branford. The bartender was proud and said they all work hard for the rating. I liked his enthusiasm. The hunt for delicious mac and cheese continues. This restaurant was on a list of places when I googled "best mac and cheese in CT" and since I had just gotten out of a spa in Branford, I figured it was the perfect time to stop by and try their infamous dish. I picked up my order so I can't say too much about the service but the woman that took my order on the phone and helped me when I got there was very nice. Good service for the brief time I was there. I ordered the Spicy Buffalo Mac and Cheese. I'm not sure which dish won an award (the article I read online said they won some award for their mac and cheese) but I don't know which one. I will say the dish overall was very tasty BUT my first bite is always JUST the mac and cheese. I want to see what that tastes like before I try it with chicken or whatever I end up getting. The mac and cheese on its own was mediocre. However, it didn't look the photo from online that won the award so maybe I didn't get the best one. The spicy buffalo chicken addition made it really good. I write this a lot in my reviews but I know that it depends on everyone's taste. I like my mac and cheese creamy and heavy on the cheese because I'm not trying to eat a plain noodle so keep that in mind. Also, I prefer shells and this dish was noodles but that's not a big deal. I would absolutely come back here because there were a lot of things on their menu that sounded really good and they had a few mac & cheese dishes that I would love to try so stay tuned. read more

We came here on a Wednesday and were seated immediately in the dining area. The food and service were both great. We started with the Ethiopian beef served on Bibb lettuce with curry infused hummus and picked onions; it was different and spectacular. For our entrees we had the flat iron steak and the seared yellowish tuna cooked rare and again, both were great. Will definitely be returning and recommend it to anyone eating in the Branford area. We stopped at this restaurant on our way to the beach and it was awesome! I recently found out that I have celiac disease, so we had to find a restaurant that served gluten free food for me to eat. This restaurant had a separate menu listing all of the gluten free options available, as well as a dedicated gluten free fryer. I ordered the cheese platter, which came with three types of cheese, candied walnuts, fig compote, and gluten free bread crisps. It was delicious! Adorable spot with immersive theming!! It really feels like a home with a fireplace, couch and coffee table area, and even the menu has "doors" on the front to open. I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender (possibly owner) was very upbeat, friendly, and joking with us the whole time. He accommodated to my request of a pineapple drink by adding pineapple to a cocktail on the menu. He joked that he had never made it before, and it tasted delicious! New season new menu at HOME- had to stop in. Busy Thursday night with the ink still wet on the new menu- staff was knowledgeable of all the nuances and the preparation was spot on. As always great service from Rob the bartender, Jeff the manager, and Tori a new server who really attended to our every need. With chef/owner Jared in the kitchen, we enjoyed the new steak tip Chile soup, pastrami reuben egg rolls (beyond amazing), the new pan roasted duck, the pork po boy, and the smoked cheese sandwich and tomato soup- don't forget the fries...arguably the BEST the group had ever had!
