My husband treated me to some Italian on the day of my birthday. We decided to try Rosso Vino as we kept seeing some Instagram posts about it. This restaurant was about 40 minutes from where I live and it was definitely worth the drive. Our server, a young gentleman I forgot his name... was very kind and welcoming. He took care of us very quickly he knew the menu very well and gave some great recommendations. The food was phenomenal. We came on a Monday night, so there was many people there who came after work. It was quite busy, so be sure to make reservation reservations. The vibes were great. I will be returning.

Specialty warm sangria rimmed with graham crackers and infused with cranberries warmed my heart and soul. Espresso martin, a glass of Merlot and all three of us were cheerful. Beer battered fried Squash Flowers served with some of the tasty marinara sauce I've ever eaten. Braised lamb shanks served over mashed potatoes finished with pan juice was braised to perfection. Two meaty shanks, tender as can be. Gnocchi with marinara and two huge signature meatballs. Moms Mia those were good meatballs. Some of the best meatballs I've had outside my home. They serve big portions (I am not complaining) so had to take home half my meal. No room for this gal to eat dessert although friend had the maple creme brûlée which he thoroughly enjoyed . The restaurant was decorated nicely for Christmas with holiday music playing softly in the background. Service was top notch. Reservations are highly recommended as restaurant is not big. Valet parking available daily. An Italian gem in Branford, CT I can't wait to return to.

Small and intimate. Valet Parking is your best option. Reservations are a necessity. We went with a group of five and were seated promptly. Our server was very excellent. Carefully explaining the specials. I had the monk fish special which was very good. My wife had the broccoli rab and sausage. Portions were just right food was well prepared and the perfect temperature. Overall good food. A bit noisy as place is small but the food more than made up for that.

Another great meal. Had the pork chops and it was delicious. Great food and service. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. The only problem is there is limited parking, so your option may have to be $20 for valet parking. I have been able to secure street parking every time, but you have to walk a little.

Not pleased with two tier menus prices. If you want to cover your credit card costs put it in your menu pricing. Will not be back.

This is something you would get as part of your dinner experience in another restaurant. Especially none of the meals come with a salad. My appetizer was the Stacks. It was 4 slices of beet and a very small serving of Burrata. In was good, however it should have had a bigger portion of cheese. It was so small, you could not get the effect of the cheese. My main meal was the Pasta Board. I told the waiter that I didn't want the pasta on a board and wanted in bowls, which they did. I could not imagine eating this off a board. The sauces were good and the portion size for the red sauces good, however the white sauce was one was very small. For dessert I had the ice cream with espresso. It was good, but the scoop of ice cream was very small. To sum up the experience, good food and small portions. No free bread with the meals or salad.

Waitress said it came with seasonal vegetables to include squash etc, it didn't. It had kalamata olives and lots of capers. It made for a salty bite every time. I picked out all the capers. It was a very small portion of fish and risotto for $40. The farro salad, we added ahi tuna. Tuna had no flavor, no seasoning or crust. Very little farro or butternut, mostly lettuce. Cuban, heavy bread ratio. Otherwise was good. Three drinks were good: passionfruit mojito, guava coco margarita, were the average price for a drink out these days. The Oxford spritz was $25 dollars--that's insane... if we knew that price, would never have ordered. Apps: king pao dumplings, wish I took a picture -- they were beyond mini. Waste of money IMO. Yuca fries were a little undercooked to be creamy (we've had them other places better). Shrimp tacos were good. On a Friday night: only two tables outside were filled, 3 other tables inside besides ours from 630/830. When they first opened, you couldn't get in without a reservation as people were getting in to try it. My guess is people aren't returning. We wouldn't either unfortunately. Restaurant scene is competitive in Branford and for price and portion, it's just not gonna meet the mark--in my opinion

I've been wanting to try Manjares for drinks and a bite since I already know how good their baked goods are for breakfast. Tonight was our chance despite traffic jams on the Parkway and snow drifts that makes parking everywhere in New Haven a treasure hunt. Decor is beautiful, ambiance is chill and relaxing. Very reminiscent of Olea without the downtown hustle and bustle. Menu is small yet carefully curated with something for everyone. We came specifically for potatoes bravas, one of our favorites. Saw it on the menu online but was told it was no longer available. Our server, Tabitha, suggested some Yucca fries which was not on the menu but she made a request to the kitchen for us. They were delicious and honestly if they were in the menu we would've ordered that as well. Fried calamari was seasoned and fried to absolutely tender perfection. The coating was light and crispy. My wife loved the aioli and picked onion combo on it. I preferred the lemon. Both of us decided to get a pasta course, bolognese and carbonara. For a non-Italian place to cook both of these dishes with such perfection blew us away. Flavorful bolognese that wasn't drenched in tomato sauce coated the al dente rigatoni perfectly. The carbonara was rich and savory with a little pepper accented by the guanciale. My wife had issues finishing ir and I suggested taking it home. She then finished it out of spite I believe. For $25 each, the pasta dishes were both satisfying without making you feel so full and bloated that you needed a wheelbarrow to get you back to the car. Plenty of food for even the biggest eater. Well worth the money. The attention to depth of flavors was evident. These were not some thrown together pasta dishes. Our compliments to the chef. Tabitha was great. Her cocktails were fantastic. She was attentive without being intrusive and has a great sense of humor. We are definitely coming back.

He and his lovely wife Ana have created a little haven in the neighborhood. The food was excellent-- my friends and I enjoyed the fried artichoke salad, grilled octopus, crispy calamari, the branzino and the carbonara. Everything came out either with a bright sauce, perfect vegetables or out of the ordinary accompaniments (like pickled onions with the calamari!). Delicious! And our server Tabitha took such good care of us to top it all off! A great start to the weekend.

She went above & beyond with a few phone calls and for that all of our group is grateful. It was a pleasure walking into this airy and energetic restaurant. We were in for a treat as soon as Tori B. greeted us with a great attitude and extensive knowledge of the menu at Celeste. Tori did an excellent job caring for our family as we celebrated a few special occasions this particular night. They did not rush us and allowed us to visit while also providing us exceptional service. Such a true professional in the world of hospitality. The bread service of delicious focaccia was a treat right off the bat. We thoroughly enjoyed the calamari fritto misto with artichoke hearts, pepperoncini, fried lemons, and caper aioli. The spicy whipped feta is a unique preparation with the olive relish, and we raved over the house-made warm pita. Truly some of the best starters the four of us have enjoyed in a long while. It appears Celeste is well known for their pizzas and after consuming the fig & prosciutto pizza we know why. Unctuous blending of flavors with Great Hill blue cheese and so much more. We left room to continue sharing amazing food - the roasted Moroccan chicken and the grilled halibut. Both mains sported their own unique flavors. The Moroccan chicken has a perfect blending of couscous, raisins & cashews with roasted broccolini. The grilled halibut was so perfectly prepared that I dream of ever being able to grill my own back home to such a perfect consistency. Congratulations to a well-run kitchen that supports a seamless front of the house operation. Having managed restaurants for years, I appreciate the energy and passion that goes into creating such memorable dining experiences for guests.

We went on a Thursday evening and street parking was easy to find. Service was great! Here is what we had: 1. Drinks: EASY TIGER- coconut rum, overproof rum, horchata, amontillado, sherry, lime, aromatic bitters. BLOOD, SWEAT, & ROSEMARY (mocktail)- blood orange, lemon, rosemary, soda water. My boyfriend had the easy tiger and found it more tropical tasting than horchata but still liked it. I had the mocktail, which was great! Refreshing drink. Just nice they offer mocktails and tasty ones too! 2. Raw bar: gotta have oysters while in the east coast right? They were from Jamestown and of course yummy. They had a mignonette which was good but since the oysters were so good not needed but a yummy addition option 3. Shared plates/appetizers: CHARRED OCTOPUS- Castlevetrano olive & cannellini bean, frisee, shaved red onion, piri piri, EVOO. This was one of my favorite appetizers. We try octopus everywhere and have had lots of overcooked ones. This was not that! It was soft, buttery and easy to cut and not rubbery. The tail was crispy and yummy. The char was perfect and flavor was on point. PAN ROASTED SUNCHOKES- herbed ricotta, hazelnut, chervil, Calabrian compound butter. What a tasty spin on the sunchokes. I love sunchokes and appreciate a great presentation and different ways to have it. 3. Entrees/Mains: BRANDT FARM 14 OZ RIBEYE- crispy potatoes, onion jam, bravas sauce, haricot vert. My least favorite dish of the night but doesn't mean I have love everything. I still appreciate a really good restaurant and concept. I know this is not a streak house so I understand not being the best steak. It was a bit of a tough steak, but the cooking temp (medium rare) was made to perfection and flavor was simple but perfect (I love love a simple steak without all the extras). The sauce was my least favorite of the dish and could definitely do without. The potatoes and veggies were good except it was somewhat less tasty with the sauce. We made our own surf and turf and had their special for the day. HALIBUT- not sure what was all in for the specifics but this was a winner. The fish was charred yet the moisture was preserved and tasty! Loved the flavoring and sauce. All mixed harmoniously. Dessert: BASQUE CHEESECAKE-fresh whipped cream, brown butter salted caramel, strawberry. We had a hard time deciding between the pistachio tiramisu and the cheesecake. I'm sure both are tasty. I like my cheesecakes more simple and asked for this without whipped cream and strawberry. The consistency of the cheesecake was great! Taste was point on. Although I don't care for caramel with it I tried the caramel and mmmmmm. Cheesecake was a great way to end. Overall fantastic experience. Our waitress was lovely. Staff was wonderful. Food was delicious. The ambiance was cozy and cute. If you are in the area recommend coming here for a nice dinner.
