They have entertainment, music, dance, exercise on a daily basis for the residents. The place is very clean asvi have seen the staff cleaning floors, etc on a daily basis. Staff are off the wing in activities or attending to the needs of residents in their apartments leaving the majority of residents alone in common areas. Personal care attendants change frequently so there is little room for relationship building between the residents/family and there is little overall work experience/training. Though the gardens are lovely there are not enough staff to escort the residents to the garden or sit with them outside. Activities/Entertainment is only available to those residents who are comfortable leaving their living area and attending large group activities in a large common activity room. Residents need to be escorted to and from activities by an RCA which does not allow residents to come and go freely from activities or participate at their own level. Though Bridges states that activities are held on the wings, they are of poor quality, not stimulating, very infrequent and not conducted by trained activities staff. There is no parallel programming so when a resident is not able to participate in the larger activities there is nothing available for those left behind. The dining experience is lacking, very noisy and cold. There is nothing to absorb the sound created by serving and clearing the dishes. The utensils are too large, the glasses and mugs are too heavy and there is no consideration for color contrasting that is needed for individuals with dementia (everything is blue). If a resident has an unsteady hand or diminished strength they would find it difficult to comfortably use the items provided. There is no consideration for using table clothes or any other table decor to decrease the noise or add to the overall pleasure of dining. Scraping dishes and running the dishwasher next to the residents while they are still eating and socializing does not make a pleasurable dining experience. The lighting in the residents room need improvement. There is only one dim ceiling light. Lots of extra lighting needs to be brought in by family members which leads to safety hazards for the residents. There is little individual attention to laundry causing items to shrink or get lost. There is nothing personal on the walls where the residents live to celebrate their lives such as personal photographs, art work, birthdays, seasonal decorations, sports memorabilia etc. The atmosphere is very sterile. The only display of creativity is in a small area outside the residents living space. How does one know what month it is if there are no seasonal decorations or calendars? Not enough items to orient or bring forth memories for an individual with memory loss.

The picture of the walkway with the post and grass is just a side pic off to the right of the front door. The kitchen pic is false- or it must be a staff lounge? The couches, might be the lobby. The place reeks and its worse upstairs in the dementia unit. No air ventilation. ALWAYS short staffed, always agency nurses and aids in and out of there. People not being changed often enough. In the rehab unit, an older woman had to pee and needed the bedpan, she couldn't walk because of her knee surgery, the male nurse told her to go in her brief and they would change her after! She was furious, I was too! The doctor treating the whole building including the dementia unit isnt a psychiatrist but was doling out antipsych meds. She refused to take my father off of Haldol. The worst one. A first generation antipsych med that a previous doctor put him on. Its a chemical restraint and many places ban it, in fact the government banned it for years a few decades ago. He ended up on Hospice because of it, but got better when they reduced the dose. Later he got bad again and I have to have him sent to the ER and to another facility. And the food is terrible. And they dont post how many nurses and aids there for each shift which is illegal. It must be posted for all to see. The staff is rude as hell, and lie, and cover their asses with loopholes so they get away with things like antipsychotics and moving patients around to different units or rooms. Only a few people there are nice. There are pluses, like the nice patio out back but the patients dont get out very often even though it's federal law to allow fresh air, outside daily. And activities daily. For everyone. Including dementia. But there, the activities mostly are for the LTC. So another lie they peddle.. "activities all day long in the dementia unit!" Yaaaa no. It's bright- but in his room I always had to open the shades myself. I guess no one else could be bothered. Beware of any facility owned by Genesis.

Although she is…read morerelatively independent, the staff know her habits, check on her regularly, and are always happy to assist with any little request. The food is excellent, the common spaces are lovely (though we do wish they would leave the blinds open in the common room so that people could enjoy the outside light and gardens as well as the TV). They have recently updated the paint, furnishings and carpeting in the common areas so they are bright and fresh - I hope they do the same for the hallways in the residents' areas, as they are currently an 80s-ish gold tone which is not so bright and cheery as the common areas. Like many assisted living places, the apartments are small and closet space is minimal, and unfortunately, there is no basement storage available. But the rooms are kept clean (housekeeping is excellent). We paid extra to paint the apartment a brighter neutral color, with more light reflectivity, to brighten the room, and we put off-white area rugs over the brown carpet to lighten the right, which is especially important to vision-impaired seniors. Requests for maintenance (ie, fix blinds) can be slow, but the entire staff is cheery and kind. We have been happy at Robbins Brook and would recommend it to others who need assistance with daily living.

The apartments are much bigger here than the other places we visited in the area. Yes, the decor is still stuck in the 80's from when it was built, but who cares. Yes, maybe it needs new carpet in some areas but dad doesn't care. What he cares about is the good food (he'll eat anything so who knows if he's a good judge of fine dining!), the kind and attentive staff and the new friends he's made. A big perk to this place is the indoor pool which residents can use 9-11am with a supervising staff member. We didn't see indoor pools in the more expensive places and it's a real treat for the residents! Dad is a real bore about participating in the activities, but if your elderly loved one would enjoy them, they have plenty! There is no excuse to be lonely or bored at Langdon! If they're not feeling sociable at meal time, they can even have them bring the meal to their suite. We love the flexibility of how little or how much you want to participate on any given day. Take a tour of Langdon Place and see for yourself. It was just the right place for dad, hopefully for yours as well!

Personally, I have experienced home health care for over 2 years now. Starting off with another agency I quickly learned that my purpose to help people could not be fulfilled with them and boy am I happy about that! Comparing the 2 agencies is like night and day. Not giving up on pursuing my career, I interviewed with VA and I have proudly served with them since September of 2020. I can't emphasize enough on how hard the office staff works day in and day out, to match us with the best fitting clients to care for on a daily basis. They strive to be the best and it shows with our leadership team leading caregivers to do everything we need to do, to the best of our ability, to provide the best care in our industry!!! My experience and time with VA I have had opportunities to grow and learn. It's like clock work. Continuously providing the best on going training, always involved in every single clients care plan, and always making sure we as caregivers are personally in a good place to care for them with 100% integrity and the right heart to do the right job. I'm beyond grateful for them giving me an opportunity to grow and become better at my position on a daily basis rather than just looking at me like a sales call. From day 1 walking through that door I have built a solid relationship with my employers and most importantly my clients. If you're looking for an opportunity to work in this industry to help people and to grow successfully in your career, look no further! I'm a proud Angel. I love when someone gives me a hug just going to get a shot at the dr. All because I had my VA jacket on. The nurse was raving about my company and her personal experience with her loved one. Walking out of the clinic that day last week, I smiled. A big smile :) Its a nice feeling to be recognized but to be recognized as a WHOLE, that to me speaks volume!!
