I've been using Home Comfort for heating and air for 10+ years and have had nothing but excellent experiences. We tend to see the same technicians year after year, which tells me they are a good company to work for in addition to having great service. They are also very sweet with our crazy dog that jumps all over them and barks her head off the whole time they are here. Prices are competitive, and if you sign up for their yearly play you get a discount on repairs and they will call you with reminders for your next check up (which is the only way I remember to do anything) read more

Used Home Comfort Services in Niles, IL. The shop was recently closed. They replaced a combination HVAC unit in my Chicago condominium. The initial installation needed major rebuilding and corrections. Given the scope of the rebuild, I missed that the condenser unit was not placed properly in the wall, it is causing ongoing issues. Initially there were metal fragments on top of the condenser that went to the outside. Glad that I had a ladder to get on top of it and clean it off, before the metal fragments became airborne. The "free" vent cleaning caused dust to blow all over my condo unit. Not good when you have lung disease. I ended up cleaning dust that had been trapped in the vents. The tech didn't bring a shop vacuum to take care of. the job. They used a machine that flapped a rag around in my vents. I was concerned that the vents would be torn up. The motor itself is very loud and I still haven't gotten used to it. The contactor slams in and start up is a continual disturbance. Noted too that there are no insulators around the main electrical breaker. Decided to pass on the "free warranty." The associated service calls required to maintain the warranty were not "free." Very disappointed how the project turned out. It was stressful, expensive and subpar. read more

I bought a furnace from them that has had to be repaired twice while under warranty, but it's running just fine now.

We've used Home Comfort in the past without an issue. But this June 18th we had Home Comfort inspection and refill our A/C coolant, which cost us $350.00. At this time the refrigerant was overfilled by their technician which damaged the TXV. We then had Home Comfort replace the ruined TXV and issued a check for $1274.00 on 6/20/2025. They must have misplaced the check, now sending the invoice to a collection agency. When trying to resolve the issue, I asked them to cover the stop payment charge and issue a new adjusted invoice that I would pay. I was told the check was shredded and not to worry! I asked to speak to a manager, I received a call the next day stating "they found the check". I no longer recommend this company. Having to pay $1274.00 for a technicians mistake and being sent to a collection agency because of someone's careless is unacceptable. read more

My spouse and I had an amazing experience with Bill Morris and his team at Home Comfort! Although our central air and gas furnace were still functioning, they were nearing the end of the road. We did quite a bit of research before deciding to upgrade to a cold weather high efficiency heat pump and backup natural gas furnace. We received a quote from another company before reaching out to Home Comfort for a competing bid. Without knowing the pricing offered by Home Comfort's competitor, Bill Morris provided a proposal that was both less expensive and involved superior Lennox products (and a 12-year warranty!) that made our decision to choose Home Comfort easy. Our choice was only validated by our experience with Home Comfort's installation team, who were both professional and friendly and figured out how to maneuver the quite sizable new heat pump through our narrow gates and doorways! The installers spent more than 12 hours removing and replacing our old HVAC and furnace ... complete with a new return vent that they installed without creating a mess of our drywall. Home Comfort was a sub contractor in a remodel. We had a one year old Furnace/A/C for the upstair in our attic, while Home Comfort was contracted to replace the Furnace/A/C in our basement. They made changes to our second floor system which has made it not work, allows very high humidity. They came out the first time we experienced problems and said nothing was wrong but they wanted to sell us new products. Which of course we ignored. Now its very Hot and the upstairs is without A/C its over 80F and Humid. We will be calling SunShine heating and Air to pay to fix the issues Home Comfort has caused. Unhappy with my old HVAC maintenance company. My first choice in Home Comfort was defiantly the right choice. The were able to come out same day. My technician was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Went way above and beyond what my previous HVAC company would do. Needed a replacement of a garage heater later that same week. Bill saved the day!!! Problem with our AC this week and we received quotes for the services from 3 companies. We chose Home Comfort basing on good reviews and was quick to address our concerns. The other company is hard to reach, several calls and no call backs to help remedy our problem. Bill walked us thru the services to be expected, gained our confidence and even played with my 3 year old. He came Saturday and service guy John came on time as scheduled Monday 7am to replace our unit. Job was done 2 days before the heat wave come. Perfect timing. Everything works well. I had a CO2 leak in my home. The fire dept. was called and said the leak was from my furnace. The fire dept. turned off furnace told me that if what they thought was the problem I would need a new furnace. I called Home Comfort and explained my problem. Dan, the owner, and a technician responded promptly and checked the furnace. As the fire dept. had said I needed a new furnace. Dan gave me a reasonable estimate and the new furnace was installed within two days. Dan was very professional and knowledgeable about everything and explained it to me in way that I completely understood. Woke up at 2 a.m. couple of days ago in a sweat. Not a good feeling now a days. I soon realized it was the house, not me, that was really hot. Checked the thermostat. It was set for 72 but read 85. Figured it was a thermostat problem. I eventually completely disconnected both of our thermostats but the boiler kept running. Eventually turned it off at the breaker. Couple of hours later I called two HVAC servicers I had used before. One never called back. Home Comfort took my call right away. They scheduled service for a few hours later. They communicated really well. Sending texts and back up emails as to what, when and who. Even sent a picture of the service man. Bill came out within the appointed time. He actually listened to me as to what I had tried. He also disconnected the thermostats at the boiler to no avail.. After about 1/2 hour he told me that the boilers circuit board had died. He explained that normally that would mean no heat but luckily I could be the stair climbing thermostat, turning the breaker on and off as needed. He explained everything. Basically I could wait a week or so until a new circuit board came in. The boiler is likely 50 years old so I figured it might even take longer for the part. I also worried about what else could be wrong. While I was waiting I had looked up approximate costs for replacement on the net. I had decided on a full replacement. Bill's written estimate was right in the middle of what I had found. We scheduled an install for two days later. On time Johnny and his helper showed up. Checked it out and started the install. They thought the install would take most of the day but they finished and tested in only 6 hours, before the temp in the house fell below 63. They retested with me also checking All good. They even replaced and improved the valveing with modern turn offs. They cleaned up everything, inside and outside It was the same great communication with the installers as there was with Bill. I was notified as things went along. Now two days alter everything is still working right and we are warm and comfy. read more

We are new homeowners of five weeks and needless to say we have no idea what we are doing when it comes to plumbing. We had our first plumbing emergency when our sewer line backed up, causing flooding and other horribleness, on a weeknight at 10 pm. We called every place we can find and fortunately Ryan from Home Comfort was the only one who responded. He stopped the flooding and was honest with what the problem was. Then after banging our heads into the wall trying to get a plumber through our warranty company, we decided to go around them and just hire Home Comfort. Ryan and his partner fixed the problem quickly and affordably and also provided great service. He explained everything so that we understood it and helped bring our stress levels down quite a few notches. Today I had a great experience with Home Comfort's repair services. (Average February day, not crazy cold.) Our furnace hadn't been producing consistent heat for weeks, and it finally gave out completely yesterday. I called at 8:00 this morning in hopes of having someone come by same-day. Brian the dispatcher put me next on the list, and Bill the repairman came by around 10:00 am. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly; wore booties to protect the floors from his boots and got on good terms with my very curious dog. I like to learn new things whenever I work with service people or vendors, so I was happy to duck my head in when he offered to show me the problem and the solution (the heat sensor was getting corroded and had been weak for a long time). Bill was on his way in about an hour, and now I have a warm home again! read more

We've been using Home comfort for years now. Yes they do have strong Christian and moral values, but they're also really great at what they do. They've even done a few things for little or no charge because, "it was no big deal and we're good customers." I'm now about to have them update my recording studio with their construction division. The estimated price was reasonable, and again, there's a trust factor that cannot be bought. This will be a tough process as much needs to be done. This is the first time I've used this division, so I'll report back. read more

We have used Home Comfort for years! I am glad to see them on Yelp! I am a private chef and caterer and use my home for a lot of the work I do. A month ago, our furnace was having issues. They sent out a repairman who arrived w/ in the hour of my call w/ no extra charge. The gentleman was at our home for about 90 minutes and "tried everything" and after speaking to multiple team members (I assume they all worked together) on the phone, they decided I needed a new gas value. It was going to cost was about $2-$300. I said OK and they would be back tomorrow or was soon as the part came in. They came back the next day however, w/ another repairman. This gentleman did a few things and cleaned some pipes out and got it to work w/ out replacing the value, which saved us hundreds of dollars. The best thing, they only charged us for the first visit!!! These guys (and probably girls) are the best! read more

He thoroughly explained what he was doing, the condition of our furnace and what he recommended be addressed. He offered a maintenance plan, which saved us more than a few dollars. The technician who came to fix my problem, Bill, was patient with my questions, answered very thoroughly and knowledgeably and was very neat and polite. No only did he fix my problem but he took a picture of the rooftop condenser to show me what had been causing the problem. That's how thorough he was in his explanation. As a former client of Comfort Heating and Cooling, these guys were entrusted to take over for all the customers when the owner of Comfort retired. However, I do not suggest them if you live in Chicago. First, they charge you almost 70% more just to come out, apparently, and that is just 15 minutes of diagnostics. Anything over 15 minutes and you're going to pay another 150 bucks an hour for labor, including the time the technician takes to talk to you about how much the bill is going to be and to tell you that you need to replace the filter. I was charged $260 to replace a fuse on the control board, which is extremely overpriced. 2 stars is deserved as the technician was really nice, but this company is way overpriced for services in Chicago. I would have paid half the amount with any other company that does services in Chicago. read more

My last service call was a complete disappointment. Had a guy come out for a estimate on a new furnace and air conditioner. It's been around 4 months and no word on price, etc. I also found out the last service call for a refill on freon, was way overpriced. They charged me $100 a pound and he said that's what they get it for! Do to a leak in the air conditioner I had to have it refilled again but by a different company. The other company charged me $50 a pound. I will have my furnace and AC replaced by the new company, not home comfort. read more

I was schedule to have someone, John, come out and provide an estimate to replace a bath fan and install some venting as the old unit was not vented to the outside. I waited 3 weeks and took off work early to meet him for our appointment at 4 PM last Friday. He called on Friday morning and left a voicemail saying that bath fans run between $950 and $1,050 and that he did not need to come out. I called him back shortly after this and indicated that we needed new venting installed and I assumed he would need to come out to estimate that. He did not call back nor show up. I called your office on Friday afternoon and asked to speak with a manager. I was told there was not one there and I left a message. No one called me back. I'm really disappointed and can assure you that I will not be doing any business with Home Comfort in the future. read more

About 6 weeks ago I requested an estimate for a change in furnace duct work and a new radiator. Two men came for the estimate, one named Paul. After inspecting the job, they said another man (John) would look at the duct work project and they would send an estimate for the radiator work, I waited over 1 week. When I called Home Comfort, I was told they were still searching for the correct radiator to install, and John would arrive in a day or two. John did arrive and spent less than 2 minutes looking at the project but said I would receive "something" by e-mail. It is now 6 weeks since the initial visit. I have received no estimates or call back. IF THEY DONT WANT THE JOB JUST SAY SO!!. Based on my experience, I cannot believe these 5 star reviews. About 2 hours after this post, Dan called to apologize for not getting back to me about the project. Since Home Comfort had done an outstanding job installing SpacePak air conditioning in my previous home, they got an early morning call when the furnace quit working in my new home, on the coldest day of the year. The tech arrived within a few hours (by then it was 47 degrees in the house!) and quickly determined that the heat exchanger was cracked -- new furnace required. Within a few minutes the friendly and knowledgable salesman arrived, explained the various options to me, and assured me that the replacement furnace could and would be delivered and installed early the next morning. Within 24 hours I was back up and comfortable in my home -- thanks to the quick action by the Home Comfort team. I just had our fall maintenance done on my furnace and water heater by Home Comfort. Our service man was Taylor C and I just wanted to give him a shout out for doing an awesome job. I got a text and an email to alert me that he was on his way, as well as a phone call from him personally to let me know he was coming. They had all the appropriate masks and footwear and we're extremely pleasant to speak with. He got right to work and spent enough time with my equipment to thoroughly check them out. After he was finished he explained to me exactly what was done, what he would recommend I look out for as well as pictures of what he was talking about. I also got a follow up email from Home Comfort with detailed invoicing as well as another copy of the pictures and PDF of the checklists that they used. I would highly recommend Home Comfort. We just moved into a new condo in Chicago and had Home Comfort out for a check-up on my HVAC system. The appointment was easy to schedule and they were able to get me on the books during busy season within a week or so which was a lot faster than other companies. Bill was my great technician and he was professional (even took the time to put covers over his shoes so as not to track any dirt in the house), timely (gave me a heads up when he was en route within the estimated service window), thorough, walked me through the basics of my system, gave me pointers, etc. I am very impressed and will have Home Comfort back out in the Spring to service my AC Unit as well. read more

They went from one star to five stars to four. You can read my original post below (one star), to which the owner responded with what appeared to be a plausible explanation -- and he's honoring all the warranties and service of the company he purchased, has been in business 17 years, etc. Gave a nice backstory, seemed legit. But as soon as I changed my rating to 5 (with a short note, indicating it was just for the tone, speed, clarity, and quality of communication with a potentially hostile customer) he deleted his reply, my clarification, his response. What was I to make of that? Deleting the conversation was not right, esp. the promise to cover warranties (which was not, by the way, mentioned in the letter by Comfort Heating). I changed it to 2 stars. He put back the communication. So I give 4 stars, if it stays. I do like good small businesses and his is most likely one. But I'm not kind to scammers, and I don't think he is one. ------------------------------ Something seems fishy. I have used a service Comfort Heating and Cooling until recently. Then they charged me $600 for a "hard to get" part which I found for $95 in 1 min. They said they can't replace a circuit board, they don't make them anymore for my unit; I'll need to replace the furnace. But I found the board easily; it was $62, I bought and replaced it myself. Now I get a letter from a "Lazaro Garcia" who I' dont know, saying he's retiring immediately, closing Comfort Heating and Cooling and urging customers to switch to Home Comfort Services, with his great recommendation. Thanks for being a dedicated customer, and so on. Home Comfort Services will take great care of you. Glad I didn't get my furnace replaced! Everyone who did may have just lost their warrantee. The kicker: Comfort Heating and Home Comfort Services have the same address. read more

Called Home Comfort to do a seasonal furnace check up. They were professional from start to finish. Easy to schedule the appointment, the office quoted accurate prices up front, and the serviceman came on time. Best part is their internet based services - I didn't just get a phone call saying the guy was on his way, they sent an email, which is a lot more convenient than having to run to the phone. And they do online payments too. One of the things I hate about home repair is when the repair guy takes his not so clean clipboard and puts it on your kitchen counter or dining room table to fill out an invoice, then hands you a stained piece of paper as a receipt. Not these guys - everything's electronic, and the copy of the invoice and the receipt were emailed to me. All very professional and the work was completed quickly and well. We started working with Home Comfort in April 2013 to move our furnace and AC blower into our attic (from the second floor). Out of five different contractors/quotes, they were the only ones who knew everything that needed to be done to be within code and were able to do it at a reasonable price. They obtained the permits for us, were ALWAYS exactly on time, were friendly and courteous and always willing to answer questions, made recommendations (not just sell us the most expensive thing, but advise us on what made the most sense for our house and budget), worked cleanly and followed up. Summer of 2013 we had them replace our garbage disposal. We love that they do more than just HVAC and that we can count on them for other home improvement projects to be completed professionally and at a fair price. We had them come out again right before Thanksgiving 2013 because our 60+ year old boiler had died (we have a furnace upstairs and a boiler downstairs). They were able to get it running again before we went out of town, buying us some time until we have to eventually replace it. It was 50 degrees on our first floor -- I called them at 7:00 AM and Mark was out here to fix it by 10:00 AM. It ended up requiring a part, but he got it going as a temporary fix and Israel then came out that same night and again the next day to do the final fixes. We really appreciate their honesty and their fantastic customer service. They are the company that we'll continue to use for all of our home improvement and HVAC needs! read more

We recently hired Home Comfort to install a garbage disposal and dishwasher. We are especially impressed by the level of professional service that was given by both Craig and by Brian, the plumber. Brian worked very hard all day to make sure the piping installation was done properly and that there were no leaks or impact on other water outlets in our home. Brian communicated clearly to make sure I was aware of his progress and potential problems. Brian cleaned up his tools and materials, leaving the kitchen the way he found it.
