The Long Version: So I find it a bit odd that there are 2 RONA locations within a kilometre and a half of each other. This one is at 340 West Hunt Club and the other one is at 585 West Hunt Club. I then remembered that this one used to be a Lowe's before Lowe's pulled out of Canada. It's actually a RONA+ while the other one is just a plain RONA. What's the difference, you ask? Technically the RONA+ is supposed to focus more on style with more offerings while the regular RONAs are more the traditional hardware and home improvement stores. Do I notice the difference? Not really, lol. In fact, this RONA has LESS selection when it comes to indoor plants, than the other location. And I would consider indoor plants more to do with style and decor, but whatever, I don't run these places. Haha. The thing that I've noticed about all RONA locations though, and this one is no different, is that their washrooms are very clean. And the set up is hygienic. There are no doors to the washrooms (don't worry, there are doors to the stalls, lol). So after you've freshly washed your hands you don't contaminate them by touching dirty door handles. I appreciate design features like this. Anyway, this location is good for home improvement and hardware. I'm not really convinced that it has more selection for home furnishings than other locations. This is a new-ish Dollarama that's very large and has an excellent selection of products…read more I dropped off some clothes at Plato's Closet, which is in the same plaza, and while I was waiting for them to sort through my items and give me an offer, I popped over to this Dollarama to poke around. They had a good Halloween section with lots of affordable decorations, accessories, and a few costumes, mostly for kids. They also had Christmas items out, and the selection was also good. I was impressed by their toys and games section. I picked up a Funko Pop card game (The Mandalorian edition of Something Wild) for only $4. Some dollar stores only have cheap knock offs of games, but I saw real legit games that I've seen in game stores like Mastermind Toys and places like Walmart, albeit perhaps less popular games. I spotted a limited time Coffee Crisp flavour, too: Pumpkin Spice Latte! You know I had to try it, haha. Staff were pleasant and efficient, despite the long line up. Five stars for a Walmart?!? It's a Walmart. However, it is cleaner, better stocked and less crowded…read morethan other Walmarts in Ottawa. They have a good selection of imported/exotic products. They have a surprisingly good selection of snacks from the UK, especially chocolates. And they are much cheaper than specialty candy stores. They carry Tunnock's brand items from the UK: Snowballs, Tea Cakes and Caramel Wafer Biscuits! I love these. They also have a good selection of Asian products. They have Turtle Chips from Korea! They also carry my favourite ramen brand from Korea: Buldak! Oh yeah, bring on that fire chicken! Haha. They have the largest selection of Buldak flavours I've seen outside of an Asian grocery store. Their regular mainstream items are reasonably priced and they often have sale items in-stock. Their pharmacists are competent and diligent. My parents get their prescriptions filled at this Walmart, and without going into the specifics, I can say that my interactions with the pharmacy staff in straightening out issues related to prescribers not being as clear as they could have been, have been positive. I have been impressed with their professionalism and committment to getting things right. Not all Walmarts are equal. This one is better than the rest. Lots of free parking, obviously.

The Long Version: Given the name of the store, I expected more strange and unusual plants, but I had actually taken a look at their website before coming in, so I knew they didn't have Conophytums or other exotic Mesembs, but I still wanted to stop by to take a look. They may have had some unusual non-succulents, but I'm not particularly familiar nor interested in those types of plants, lol. The store is nicely arranged and staff were pleasant. They welcomed me as I entered and let me know they were available if I needed anything, but I was left to browse on my own, which I prefer anyway. I enjoyed looking around. They had several Curly Bonnie Spider Plants, and I admired how they were so compact and curly, while mine at home is a bit unruly with some straight leaves poking out, lol. I wanted a cute plant with the pot .. and realized the pots are hand made and ceramic. It's a small local shop in Ottawa and it was super fabulous. The service was alright.. not very welcoming at first and they were pretty annoyed to see a customer and took a while to get help. The actual pot is a lil pricey but the plants are decently priced. The pot was like 42$ and plants varried between 5-13$ I got the Pink lady / callisia it was so beautiful and fell in love with it. Had to get it .. overall it a beautiful place but maybe get your pots / ceramics somewhere else as they're quite expensive !!

The Long Version: I'm late to the plant party, but I recently started getting into plants. I look for low maintenance plants that thrive on neglect, lol. I started with air plants, which I bought at Wild Willy's, which is near my house. There I saw these strange plants called Living Stones/Lithops. I had never seen these before and they fascinated me. I decided to do more research on them. I discovered that during the Winter and Summer they only need to be watered once or not at all the entire season. And in the Spring and Fall they only need watering once every month or two. That is super low maintenance! I was talking to one of my coworkers about them and she said she saw them at Robert Plante and she was going that weekend. After a few texts and photos back and forth, she picked one up for me. I was thrilled to pay only $12.99 for them instead of $18 which was the price at Wild Willy's. The Lithops are cool and unusual and I love them. I decided to go to the store myself to poke around. Navan is a bit of a hike for me, but it's not far from Orleans, where my parents live, so when I was out there visiting my parents, I asked my mom if she wanted to go look at some plants and she did, and one of my nieces also wanted to join. So off we went. The place is huge. So many plants! I loved just looking around. They had succulents (my favourite type of plant), cacti, air plants, regular leafy plants (lol, I know that's not the proper term, but y'all know what I'm talking about), and even carnivorous plants. They had plants of all sizes from tiny to huge. They had olive trees and kumquat trees and so much more. I ended up getting more Lithops because I found some red/orange ones. They were in a smaller pot and only $6.99. I also got an air plant for $4.99. My mom also got an air plant. Hers was a bit bigger so it was $5.99. And she got a succulent that looks like a rose for $6.99. There's a little food truck inside the greenhouse that sells coffee and other drinks and also hotdogs, sandwiches and snacks. I got my niece some ice cream from the food truck, which is called the YOLO Coffee Truck. I'll write a separate review for the food truck. Staff were pleasant. I needed help finding some Haworthia Cooperi, a plant I really wanted to get and staff were able to take me to them. Unfortunately they only had the pointy leaf variety and I was looking for the rounded leaf variety :( I had such a good time at the greenhouse even though I didn't get a Haworthia Cooperi like planned. I thought they just sold seeds and gardening supplies. However, my sister-in-law who knows I'm crazy about plants right now found a video on YouTube showing this store's newly renovated plants section. So I had to check it out. They have a lot of stuff. They have books about plants and even cute crocheted/knitted plants too. I came with 2 goals in mind. The first was to find a small terra cotta plant pot saucer (about 2" in diameter) and the second was to look at their indoor plants. I found the saucer, but it was $2.29 for one. I can get them at Dollarama for $1.50 for 3 but they are a bit bigger, like 2.5 inches. So I'm going to hold out for now. I might just end up getting the bigger ones to save some money. I enjoyed looking at their plants. They had Lithops, my favourite plant, but only green ones and reddish/orangey ones, which I already have. I'm looking for purple ones or colours I don't have already. They also had Fenestraria Rhopalophylla (Baby Toes) for only $9.99, cheaper than at most other places, but they weren't in good condition, so I passed. They had lots of string of pearls which were in excellent shape though. I found it odd that some plants were thriving while others were in rough shape. Anyway, I had fun poking around the store. I'm going to return with my husband to check out their organic vegetable seeds. He's in charge of our backyard vegetable garden ;) Lots of free parking available in their private parking lot. Some plants were a tad more expensive than other garden centers, but they also had some hard to find perennials that have been on my list for quiet some time. Checkout was super friendly and professional. The cashier was just so pleasant and friendly, that I would go back just for her.
