This was the helpful reply we received. We tried to rescue MULTIPLE different dogs only to be told they were already gone.

Incredibly unprofessional employees who created a frustrating experience. Double booked us and then have numerous dogs listed for adoption that they no longer have. I received a snotty reply when asking if they could remove the ones no longer available from their site. Then just flat out ignored us. We were approved and had glowing references from our vet and previous rescue we adopted from. It's heartbreaking to think that these nasty people are the ones handling the fate of so many dogs in need. If you need any confirmation of their nastiness, just look at the owners belligerent responses to other people who had the same terrible experiences.

A Horrific First-Time Fostering Experience - Avoid This Organization at All Costs I was beyond excited to foster a dog for the first time through Home for Good Dog Rescue. I had heard wonderful things about fostering and was thrilled to provide a loving, stable home for a dog in need. What I did not expect was a traumatizing, appalling experience that left me shaken and disgusted by the unprofessionalism, dishonesty, and outright aggression of this organization. At first, things seemed to be going well. The dog I was fostering arrived extremely anxious, but with time, patience, and care, she made incredible progress. She was learning new tricks, becoming more confident, and thriving in my home. Everyone in my community commented on how happy and well-adjusted she was becoming. Given this progress, I reached out to Home for Good to express interest in adopting her--fully aware that fosters do not typically adopt, but hoping they would recognize how much this home was benefiting her. That's when things took a bizarre and deeply unsettling turn. I received a call informing me that I could not adopt her because of a supposed "mistake." They claimed that she needed to live with another dog, as she had been staying with someone who had multiple dogs. This immediately raised red flags--she had been extremely nervous initially around other dogs, which is not typical for a dog that had supposedly been well-socialized in a multi-dog household. Then, without warning, they demanded that I return her within two hours. This was completely unreasonable, so I asked if I could bring her on Saturday, as that was my usual drop-off day. They reluctantly agreed, only to call back again and insist that I must bring her that evening. I had prior commitments and physically could not make it happen, so I requested to stick to our original Saturday plan or find another workable day. What happened next was absolutely horrifying. I received a call from my building's front desk informing me that the co-founder of Home for Good was in the lobby--threatening to call the police if I did not immediately surrender the dog. They even asked to come up to my apartment. I was completely blindsided and rushed home in a state of panic, only to find police officers at my door. This was despite the fact that I had already told them I wasn't home and I didn't want someone waiting outside my door. Here's the kicker--the police themselves acknowledged that this was a civil matter and that they had no legal authority to take the dog from me that evening. When the police and my building security asked the rescue why I couldn't adopt her, the response was completely different from what I had been told earlier. Suddenly, it wasn't about her needing to be with another dog--it was because I was a first-time foster. This blatant inconsistency only further exposed the organization's dishonesty. Of course, despite their appalling behavior, I gave the dog back because I refused to escalate an already distressing situation for the both of us. But the entire experience was deeply concerning. Thankfully, I have everything in writing--the contradictions, the threats, the absurdly aggressive actions taken by this organization. I cannot stress enough how traumatizing this experience was. I wanted to help a dog in need, and instead, I was treated like a criminal for caring too much. The lack of transparency, sudden and contradictory reasoning, and extreme overreach from this organization make it clear that they have little regard for both their fosters and the well-being of the animals they claim to care about. If you are considering fostering through Home for Good Dog Rescue--don't. There are plenty of reputable, ethical rescues that treat their fosters with respect and prioritize the well-being of the animals. This organization, however, operates with deceit, coercion, and outright threats. I regret ever getting involved with them, and I would never recommend them to anyone who genuinely loves animals and wants to help PLEASE READ THIS COURT CASE BEFORE FOSTERING WITH THIS ORGANIZATION ‼‼‼ https://www.mycentraljersey.com/story/news/crime/2019/12/20/home-good-dog-rescue-central-nj-hid-animals-illnesses-police/2713502001/ I wish I knew this sooner !

Understand some folks are upset at times with the staff. They are very careful about who they adopt dogs out to and rightfully so. They do fantastic work with rescuing animals and trying to find proper homes for them. We have adopted 2 dogs from them and have found them to be nice but careful and I for one appreciate that.

Then March of this year, our 2nd boy passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Recently we decided we missed having two canine family members and set out to begin the search for a friend for our dog Daisy (also a rescue) and I knew about Eleventh Hour Rescue and the work they do for a while and had attended events like Puptoberfest. When we saw there was a Winter market happening at the Sussex fairgrounds, we got our pre-appoved application completed and attended the event with Daisy hoping to meet a particular dog. When it turned out the beautiful girl in question wouldn't be quite the right fit for our family, we came close to leaving and determined to search through other adoptable dogs with 11th Hour when we were asked if Daisy wanted to meet Jett, who we'd missed. We did an introduction and short walk together with one of the volunteers and our family. It became quickly apparent that these two would become fast friends and he was super friendly immediately with our whole family. Jett came home with us that day and immediately seemed to feel right at home. But he wasn't answering to his name, so we bounced a bunch around and thought we'd have to use a process to change it, but we came up with Remmington III (Remmy casually) and he began answering to that almost immediately. We are on day 3 and we all couldn't be happier. Everyone who volunteers with Eleventh Hour from the pre-approval process to the event staff were so welcoming, encouraging and wonderful. They do a fantastic job of vetting potential adopters so that each animal finds their perfect furever home. I would recommend anyone searching for a furry family member to consider them.

They are extremely communicative, and the events are usually held on Saturdays, but the transport that was bringing the dogs in had troubles and the event ultimately had to be moved to Sunday. I had my phone call at about 11:15 and about 1 PM hours later I was informed about the date change. It is not a typical adoption shelter that I have been to in the past. At the event, there is a ticket system, as in, the earlier you get there the earlier you will be called. While you wait you mingle with the volunteers and the dogs. You get a vibe on which dog feels like the best fit for you. However, be mindful that the crew with MatchDog Rescue does their due diligence and wants the best for EVERY SINGLE DOG. We went to the event with a very specific dog in mind. One that was on the medium/large end. However, the staff that reviewed our application and lifestyle, let us know that the dog might not be the best fit for us in terms of training and size of our home. While it was disappointing to hear, we knew at heart we wanted what was best for the dog and us. As mentioned before there is a mingling period while waiting to be called on by staff. During this period you can meet dogs of all ages, sizes, and all types OUTSIDE of dog cages. We had met several different dogs during this period, just to name a few that I can remember, Nevada, Hewitt, Cassidy, Dukie, and Garret. We bonded with several dogs early on, but with our hearts set on a specific dog, we just enjoyed their presence. However, after being informed that the dog we had our hearts set on was not a good fit for us, we knew which of the many dogs we met during the mingling period we wanted to go on a walk with. We asked if Hewitt was a good fit for us, confirmed he was, took him on a little stroll around the lot, and knew that our hearts were set on him. We went through the process of adopting him and each volunteer we worked with, remembered Hewitt and always told us how he was such a great dog and a cute little snippet or fun fact about Hewitt. There was never a doubt in my mind that Hewitt was not loved under their care. On our way out with Hewitt, the last volunteer that we worked with walked us to our car, ensuring that Hewitt was buckled in and safe and had their very loving and sad goodbyes with each other. Hewitt has been with us for about a week. We are a very calm, but active couple and Hewitt matches exactly that for us. When we are relaxing, he is relaxing. When we are running, Hewitt is right there running with us. It is not something that I considered when I was looking into adopting a dog, but I am extremely grateful the staff at MDR let us know before adopting a dog. If ever in the future I am looking for a second dog, there is no doubt in my mind that MDR will be the first adoption agency I look into.

Couldn't walk her on a leash and no one could approach her without her peeing and getting into submission mode. Later she walked on a leash but pulled like crazy. It was no fun walking her. We wanted to help her but didn't know how. We were referred to Elena a dog trainer who someone we worked with said it helped her dog. We inquired about her program and it was a lengthy 21 days and it was higher than the amount we were thinking of spending. We needed to do something though and decided to pay the money and help this sweet dog live a more normal life and help us with the stress of her issues. We decided to do it on a vacation time where we would have had to pay for the 10 days we were away to have someone watch her it helped with our issues on the cost. We are so glad we did. Our dog is so much better now. She walks on a leash very well but walks off leash even better. She listens and follows our commands very well. Shes a completely different dog. Elena did an incredible job training our dog and I would recommend her program to anyone. You won't regret it.

Sage is a Goldendoodle puppy and has many of the typical Doodle traits: playful, hyper, and mischievous. Often, these traits could end in a stressful or embarrassing scene--either she was pouncing on our neighbor's 4-year-old son, being growled at by older dogs who didn't want to play like she did, or would think that "Come" was a game where she could run away. Elena transformed our dog in two weeks, all while ensuring Sage's playful and sweet personality endured. Sage can now sit on her bed while we have neighbors over, calmly walk by children and dogs, and run to us when we say "come" even if she is 20 feet away. All of her "crazy" is gone and what remains is a beautiful, well-mannered puppy. This is all due to Elena's talent, patience, and skill. What really impressed me (and believe me, I was already thoroughly impressed by Elena) was how Elena trained Sage to be well-behaved in the airport. I fly often to visit my family in Florida, so it was important to me that I could take Sage with me on my trips. Elena brought Sage to Newark Airport and rode with her on the AirTran and got her near security and the crowds. When I flew with Sage this week, she went through the metal detector by herself, walked perfectly throughout security and until the gate, and stayed in "Place" for the three hour flight at my feet. She was perfect--and she never would have been able to do this without Elena. This training gives my dog more freedom to live a better life. She can now come with me to many more events than she ever could have pre-training. I now look forward to walking her, when before I would dread who Sage would jump on. I enjoy Sage more and our bond is deeper. If you want a well-behaved dog that still maintains its beautiful personality, Elena is your trainer!!!!

I was told he's doing great and coming out of his shell as he was nervous when I dropped him off. I didn't hear from anyone until Tuesday October 5th (the day before pickup) when I received a voicemail from Mallory that she needed to speak with me. When I returned her call I was informed that my dog had a rash on his neck and wanted to tell me before picking him up the next day and it shouldn't be a "cause for concern." She stated that the day after he was dropped off, staff noticed a tiny itchy, dry spot on his neck that progressively got worse. She continued to repeat that they didn't want this to be a cause for concern and naturally concerned, I asked to be sent a picture of the rash. This was no rash at all. The picture I was sent showed my dog next to a trainer with a raw, oozing wound where his jaw meets the base of his neck. It looked very infected and he definitely needed medical treatment so I immediately went to the facility to pick him up. When I arrived, I did not find my dog in the same condition as shown in the picture I received just an hour earlier. His wound was dry and completely scabbed over. The staff stated the wound looked much better than before (because it was healing). I immediately took him to the vet for a thorough exam and our vet diagnosed a skin infection of the hair follicles caused by injury to the skin. He also estimated that the original picture I was sent earlier that day was taken at least a few days prior. The vet also estimated that this injury occurred at least a full week prior to the training staff notifying me. Not only did my dog have an infected injury on his neck, he also had an infected wound on his testicles, had lost a significant amount of weight, as well as developing upper respiratory infection. Prior to sending him to the facility he was a big overweight with a very thick coat. The dog I picked up had lost at least 10 lbs and his spine and hip bones can be felt to the touch. The picture I was sent from staff showed a very obvious infection and the staff neglected to care for my dog or notify me that he needed medical treatment and attempted to treat this wound themselves with only A&D ointment. When asked about the 24 hour veterinarian on call mentioned on the training facility website, the staff stated they do not have a veterinarian on call. A bit misleading. After examining the neck wound we noticed small bumps around the sides of the wound that seem consistent with a pronged collar. We don't know how these injuries occurred but it's very clear our dog was NOT properly cared for and the staff neglected to provide our dog with basic medical treatment or at the very least inform us that our dog needed to see a vet. I will NEVER recommend the Dan Gentile Training to anyone.
