That's another story for a group that will get 1 star. Any way, we were given the name of Heart to Heart as a group that is more caring than the previous group and told we should contact them. All of Mom's children are out of state so it was imperative to us that we get help for Mom that is local and experienced. My sister talked to Karin at Heart to Heart and Karin started the process of getting Mom enrolled with them. Due to COVID it took a few extra weeks but Karin kept checking in with us to let us know where Heart to Heart was in the process of helping Mom/us. They reached out to all the places that had Mom's records and got those while we were waiting - very proactive. Finally they were able to come to Mom's home and talk with her. When their nurse came out to examine Mom, we were told by the nurse that Mom was terminal and had days/weeks to live. The contract with Heart to Heart wasn't signed and we were in a panic! Karin carried to contract over to Mom's home that day and got it signed by a family member. Mom was once again under Hospice care with a group that went out of their way to help her, and us. I cannot thank Heart to Heart enough for the peace of mind, support and care that they have given Mom. Amazing Karin, and amazing people at Heart to Heart. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Would have been heartening to hear someone say, 'how are you doing". Can't help but think this may have been caused by an unfounded claim by a family member concerning my mother's nursing facility care. Or maybe just an oversight. Just would have been nice to have that spiritual guidance. It's been almost two years sine her passing and while the hospice care was amazing, the absence of spiritual support after her passing still disappoints me to this day.

If this group could get 100 stars on this site, that still wouldn't be enough. We were given…read moreSenior Helper's name by a group that helps find caregivers, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Our quite elderly mother was in need of home care. In reaching out to Senior Helpers, they were immediately responsive to our needs. They came to Mom's home, checked things out, talked with her and then called to say they were on board with helping us. All of Mom's children are out of state and so it was important to have people we could trust that were there and close to Mom. There were a few hiccups the second week. Senior Helpers were at Mom's home the next day, addressed any issues and assured us that there wouldn't be any more problems, and they were right. Now to the amazing part. Mom became terminal pretty quickly and Hospice was called in. It was determined that someone needed to be with Mom 24/7. A family member was there with Mom by that time but had to leave to go home, out of state. There would be a lapse of 36 hours before a family member would be with Mom again. So what does Senior Helpers offer up? They will stay overnight and all day with Mom until another family member arrives. This was done on 2 days notice. When asking them if they were able to find someone to stay overnight with Mom, the woman that answered the phone (Kim) said that if they didn't have any caregivers available, SHE WOULD COME AND STAY OVERNIGHT WITH MOM! Who, in this day and age, does that? In a time of high stress for us, these people were amazing. I would highly recommend this group to anyone. Nothing/no one is perfect but they come pretty darn close.

Their claim of being "experts in Alzheimer's and dementia care" is one of the biggest jokes in recent history. Alz/Dem patients need consistency and routine. Senior Helpers meets this need with a rotating door of caregivers. Plus, their ever-dwindling staff is just the right size to provide no back-up options in case your caregiver calls off sick. Alz/Dem patients need constant attention and interaction. Senior Helpers more than meets this need with its extensive library of ambient videos of fish and other animals. Your loved one will get all of the love and attention he or she needs with constant reminders from the caregiver to "Watch the video" or "Look at the cute little kitten." Alz/Dem patients need assistance with most of the basic daily tasks. A seasoned Senior Helpers caregiver will always make sure your loved one goes to the bathroom unless he or she resists in any way. Then, you'll come home to soiled pants and other dirty laundry. Alz/Dem patients need to take medication daily. Count on Senior Helpers to assist with this task until your loved one experiences any level of trouble with it. Then, you will be told that any task involving medication requires medical training, which Senior Helpers does not provide. So, what does Senior Helpers provide? If you're looking for a caregiver who's the equivalent of a car pool dummy, then I suggest you give them a call.

The truth is other organizations who contract with hospitals for their inpatient services are in fact better because you always have the presence of a doctor with an actual physical assessment and not just a nurse calling a doctor in the middle of the night and dictating to him what the patient needs at all times day or night.

She had heart issues and she, and we, was/were happy with the care that Hospice gave her. She loved the nurses that came to see her. Last fall she needed a pacemaker replacement as the batteries were failing. We notified Center for Hospice and they told us an exact procedure to follow as Medicare won't pay for pacemaker replacements through Hospice. As instructed, we notified Center for Hospice the date for the pacemaker replacement. A Hospice nurse came to see her the day before the procedure, ordered extra meds and supplies. We were instructed by Center for Hospice to call them once Mom was back home. They said they would come out, reinterview her and get her back under their care within a week. A caseworker came out within a few days of her procedure and did the interview. We were reassured that she would be going back under their care any day. Mom had an "episode" a few days later, and pushed her Life Alert button. When Life Alert called Center for Hospice (they were listed first on the call list), Hospice said they would go to Mom's home. Then 15 minutes later, Hospice called Life Alert back and said Mom was no longer under their care and they would not be calling 911. This was the first we knew of this. And, they waited 15 minutes to call! I sent an email to the Medical Director and asked for a review and for her to call me regarding Mom's care. I never received a call back from the Medical Director, even after a staff member told her I was expecting a call. My family never received formal notification that Mom was no longer under their care. We did receive calls from two different Staff members that threatened us with Adult Protective Services and inquiries as to whether we knew Hospice's philosophy. They also said they wanted a detailed list of how we would keep Mom safe when they called back in two days, then never asked for the list; instead they threatened us. They kept saying Mom's case was "pending". I have no fault with the rank and file at this facility. The upper management, however, is another story. My Mom was over 100 years old; this callous, uncaring attitude was unbelievable. This is an agency that is supposed to help with end of life issues. Instead they were non responsive to my attempts to talk to them, and to Mom's care. Fortunately we were able to get Mom under care through another Hospice a few weeks before she died. In my opinion, this is a place to stay away from.
