Five Stars Isn't Enough for Adam and the Team at West Rose!…read more From top to bottom, West Rose delivered an exceptional dining experience. The food was incredible, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere in Ellicottville was fantastic - not a single complaint across the board. But what made our visit unforgettable was the General Manager, Adam, who gave us a masterclass in world-class customer service. Full disclosure: I had two complete "rookie mistakes" during our meal that I've never done in my life. First, while reaching for a slice of pizza, I managed to send the entire rest of the pizza - pan, rack, and all - crashing onto the floor. Mortified is an understatement. Before I could even finish apologizing, Adam stepped in. He had a staff member clean it up in literally ten seconds, flashed a warm smile, and calmly said a new pizza would be right out. Zero frustration, zero annoyance--he handled it with complete grace and had a second, fresh pizza at our table in minutes. He made sure I didn't feel embarrassed for even a second. To make matters worse, five minutes after walking out the door, my phone rang. It was Adam, politely letting me know I'd left my credit card behind. When I walked back in feeling twice as foolish, he handed it over with a smile and a good laugh after I admitted it wasn't my banner day. Great food is easy to find, but genuine, gracious, above-and-beyond hospitality like Adam's is rare. I Left a well-deserved tip and promised him I'd leave a review - and he truly earned every bit of praise. Don't skip this place if you're in Ellicottville! I know we'll be returning.

I did love the hummus though. So I'm definitely open to coming back, but I will definitely not be getting that mushroom pizza. Or the ginger drink. But the ambience is great and the service was pretty good. Matt thought the burger was good. We both didn't really care for the cheesecake.

The space itself is beautifully designed, with just the right mix of modern touches and cozy details which sets the tone for the whole dining experience. I ordered the duck with rice and it was truly the highlight of my meal. The flavors were layered and balanced perfectly, and the duck was cooked to perfection--tender and flavorful without being too heavy. It's clear that a lot of thought goes into how the dishes are prepared and presented. Dessert was the only area that didn't quite shine as much for me. While it was nice to have a sweet ending to the meal, the desserts felt a little on the dry side. The extensive wine list and the full bar more than made up for it. There's such a wide variety to choose from that it feels like there's something for every palate, whether you're a cocktail fan or a wine lover. If this spot were closer to me, I know I'd be here all the time. Since it isn't, I don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but that almost makes it more special--it feels like a real treat every time I come. Between the atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food, it's always a memorable experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We had the entire back room to ourselves. Our waitress was attentive to our large group. You know you're close when your phone goes into SOS mode and you fully commit to pancakes & maple syrup as a survival plan! I learned something new on this visit. We were initially shown to a table, but since only 3 of our 4 party members had arrived, we were asked to return to the lobby until everyone was present. The server assured us that once our fourth arrived, we'd be seated with the next available table, and that's exactly what happened. It gave us a few extra moments to watch pancakes methodically and continuously be poured, flipped and served from the griddle. We had the chance to sit in the original dining room, which features beautiful hand-painted murals. The booth cushions are well worn from years of use, adding to the charm and nostalgia of the space. The room itself felt bright, warm, and inviting. Service from Michelle was prompt and friendly, even with the steady pace of the restaurant. We ordered three AYCE pancake and sausage plates, coffees, a kids' pancake, and a maple milkshake. Pro tip: skip sugar and add maple syrup to your coffee. Trust me! Whether you're visiting with a few family members or bringing a large group, the Maple Tree Inn is a place full of memories, tradition, and perfectly maple-infused breakfasts. Remember to bring along cash or a check since digital payment is not an option. And mark your calendar for next season because they are only open for 2 months each year between February through April, while the sap is flowing. Looking forward to their 65th season next year in 2027!

Breakfast served at all hours, and as I learned to my delight, so is the lunch menu! I explained to the waitress I'd been working nights, so the meal I was looking for did not include eggs. Could I get the soup and salad lunch special? She didn't bat an eye, and it was 7:30 am. The atmosphere at that hour was very much a retiree coffee klatsch; familiar and joking. The coffee was a bottomless refill, and the waitress knew all her customers. The decor of the restaurant leaned towards maps of Canada, snowshoes, and antlers. I absolutely loved what was on the plate as a side: The soft, fluffy, toasted and buttered roll. It was a cross between a Parker house and a crumpet. Delicious! The French onion soup was nicely toasted, with a cheese unknown in France: mozzarella. The side salad was large enough for an entree, and they were kind enough to bring me oil and vinegar when I requested a vinaigrette. (The balsamic kind, which they had, was too sweet for me). I'd love to come back and try their flaky-looking cherry turnovers or danishes.

I initially planned on just grabbing a few pastries from their dessert counter, but ended up ordering chocolate chip pancakes to go. As I talked to the nice girl who rang me up, she suggested the pumpkin cookies and the brookie. I bought those as well to share with my mom. I can honestly say everything tasted so good! The pancakes were large and fluffy. The brookie was delicious, but the pumpkin cookies were the star of the show. Can't wait to go back and try more of their baked goods!
