The original unit we were sold is no longer manufactured with replacement parts available. After waiting extensively for a resolution, we ultimately had no choice but to move forward with purchasing a new unit - this time the correct size. During this process, we also learned that the explanations previously given to us, by Energy Sharks ,that the problems were due to using the wrong filters, that the system was filthy, and that nothing could be done - were false. The new installer worked directly with York to help us secure another unit, but we still incurred an additional cost of $6,200 for installation. In total, within just 16 months, we have spent over $15,000 to have a functional HVAC system - double what the actual cost should have been. My concern remains that others may be misled or treated as poorly as we have been, and I do not want additional consumers to experience the same level of frustration and financial burden. I would encourage everyone to just look through the recent reviews to see how bad this company has become. New ownership came with horrible people.

I asked the technician to call me when he arrived to check the rental unit that seemed to be working extra hard to cool the house. Never heard from the guy while he was at the rental house but later that afternoon, I received a text from him with a $1900 estimate for cleaning it and doing a couple things to improve the efficiency. I called Roland's AC and Heating Co and asked them to send someone to check the unit and clean it. Jim came out, cleaned it and added some Freon and they charged me $350 Don't trust the big companies that offer the maintenance packages, they are just out to make money. The guy from Dipple could have cleaned the unit and checked the Freon while he was there, but he didn't... I cancelled the maintenance packages on my house and my rental .

I recently purchased a home and required the seller to have a licensed HVAC professional complete a…read morefull inspection prior to closing and have them complete any necessary repairs. Upstate Air completed the inspection and said that the unit was functioning properly, so we continued to closing. Upon moving in, we found that the outside unit was extremely low on Freon (pressure measuring only 7.2); the evaporator coil was rusted and leaking; the auxiliary drain pan was completely full, rusted, and leaking; and the primary drain was stopped up and covered under about 6" of dirt under the deck. The unit was not functioning properly as they stated, and I had to immediately replace the unit, as repairs would have been even more expensive. Upstate Air either did not complete a full inspection as they stated, or they missed several major issues and said that a unit in dire need of replacement was functioning properly.

The central AC unit does only that room (about 450 sf) and had been serviced recently. It was 21 years old, the same age as the house. I posted a request for good HVAC firms on FaceBook. The one I had been using had quoted over $7000 for a 1.5 ton unit and coil. TIME FOR A SECOND QUOTE. I got over a dozen recommendations on FB, made 3 calls and had 2 quotes by that evening. Both were thousands lower than Carolina Heating, the incumbent. But here's where HIS distinguished themselves from the rest. They said they could have the unit installed the NEXT DAY. The heat index was 100 so I opted for them over the other firm, who could get it done the following week. The crew of 2 and the supervisor, Brandan, showed up promptly at 830AM. The work they did was fast, quality and clean. By 3 PM my office was beginning to get cooler and as I sit here now it's right at the setpoint of 75F. Thanks to Brent Stokes for a timely recommendation as he had work done by HIS just a week or 2 prior and raved about them. Thanks also to Sandra in HIS office for moving other jobs around to accommodate "Sweltering Barry."

(I wanted to see their exact measurements and pressure test stats) They could not find the air flow problem for months and kept blaming the the issues on imported parts and the energy company for high bills. Other companies had to come fix several of their mistakes on the duct work job and the unit installation from a few years ago. I call Full Air AC Repair to get Freon put in my unit. Justin came out for $110 and told me…read moreexactly what I already knew.... That my unit needed Freon. He said the Freon would cost about $750 and that I had a leak and needed stop leak and it would need to be changed to take a different kind of Freon because R22 is not available anymore. (It's available on Amazon). Anyways he quoted $2,000 to put Freon or $9,000 for a new unit. (I'm like I could get a couple of window units for cheape.) I asked him to put a duct back on that the water heater guys knocked off and he told me that he didn't have any supplies on the truck. After he left, I thought that I would consider putting Freon in myself. I went out to look at the unit and I heard a hissing sound coming from a valve. I took a video and sent it to him and asked about it. He said he could've hear anything. (The Freon that was in my unit was being drained!) I called someone else and they came out and put a new valve stem, reattached my duct, filled the unit with nitrogen to see if it would hold, then recharged my unit with 6lbs of Freon for $460. I highly recommended that everyone look elsewhere for their hvac needs. I saw these great reviews and thought I was getting some honest help. Nope!
