A deposit is even more reasonable than requiring an invoice to be paid in full, however, in the interest of time, we agreed to pay for each service as we go with the understanding that the work would be complete. The first service was the caulking of the bathroom. We paid in full up front only to arrive and realize the work was incomplete and sloppy. The shower floors were caulked using a white paint that did not match the original colors. So when she requested we pay for then next service (painting) fee up front, we explained that we would like some sort of guarantee that the work will be completed, which is reasonable considering the first service was not completed. Her response? "He will complete the shower when he returns to paint- Who said he was done?!" To which I shared with her the email where she clearly states the work was completed. Instead of her taking accountability for the inconsistencies in her own statements, her response is, "I'm not going back and forth with you!" Yes. I can't make this stuff up. That same day, we were instructed to move all furniture to the center of the room in preparation for the painting all for the no one to show up and no response from her. Mind you, we had to vacate the unit in order for the contractor to work. Fortunately we have another apartment across town but Imagine if we were in hotel, we would've put ourselves in a deeper financial hole all because she didn't "feel like going back and forth" and stopped responding completely. On top of telling us she doesn't have time to go back and forth she would constantly over share "I took time out of my busy week when I had twins graduating next week, am a single mom etc etc" it's just wildly unprofessional and should not take away from your accountability and professionalism as a business owner. We were constantly cut off and talked over. Our concerns were frequently ignored or dismissed with comments like "darling, don't worry your pretty little head" and "I have been doing this for years". Incredibly condescending and patronizing when you could simply just provide us with the guarantees we are asking for. I have never been so disrespected as a customer, yet had to bite my tongue because we were at her mercy. We were really excited to be supporting a black owned business but clearly no good deed goes unpunished. I truly believe she has a talent with staging but talent does not equate to business savviness. Enrolling in business courses would benefit her and future clients greatly.

In my bedroom, they painted, added new baseboards, installed recessed lights, & replaced my old ceiling fan with a fandelier. In my bathroom, it was a complete renovation; all I kept was the toilet so everything else was new. The guys installed a new floor, vanity, lights, shower, shelves, mirror, medicine cabinet, and curtain. The entire project took two weeks. Kras Development is my new favorite contractor & I know from experience that a great contractor is hard to find. I'm not sure if they know it but they're stuck with me now & I'll be calling them for all my future projects. You can tell they love what they do. They were also the only ones that would redo the lighting in our place without dropping the ceiling. They also have a five-year warranty, which gives us peace of mind with such an expensive and major redesign. We had new solid wood floors installed, complete remodel for the kitchen with new cabinets, sink, island, and quartz wall tiles, added new appliances and they were able to add conveniences such as a pantry and more functional cabinet spaces. They also updated our lighting and electrical switches. Na and Sway were generally good at responding within a day or so of reaching out. There were a few times when we had communication issues, such as what was written in the contract, but we were able to resolve them quickly. I also commend them for helping with getting our Sub-Zero/Wolf appliances through the door even though they were not responsible for that and helping fix damages done by the ABW appliances delivery team. We would recommend them again, the kitchen cabinets, fixtures and lighting are very well done. Our condo is small so their ability to help turn the kitchen into a space a master chef would be proud of and is more functional and better floor plan is much appreciated. The finished kitchen has a wow factor for everyone who has seen it and could be in a design magazine. We intend to use them again for our bathroom remodeling jobs in the future.

Near the end of the project, we had an issue in our basement (unrelated to the remodel, a wall came down when we put up our own shelving) and they were able to come in quickly to completely reno the basement as well. Some of the highlights of working with Kitchen Master: - 5 year warranty. Enough said. - Great personal service: Na was super responsive, and helped us make decisions on finishes within my budget (even coming to the house with countertop, flooring, and cabinet samples based on a general idea of our style). I'm pretty indecisive so I have to give Na a lot of credit for putting up with my text messages that said things like: "Would this paint color look weird with the tiles I selected?" Or "idk, what do you think we should do with this space?" Her suggestions were definitely better than what I could come up with on my own. - Budget: Na and Sway really worked with us on our budget. We were able to get quality where it counted with no upsells, and spend less in areas that either weren't as important to us, or where the price is less of an indicator of quality. This was really important to me because I don't have the time, patience, or expertise to price shop for materials on my own. -Creativity: I had two contractors tell me they likely would not have the space to turn my powder room into a bathroom with a shower. When Na and Sway came over for the estimate, they very quickly identified that they could move the toilet and sink to another spot and knock out the pantry to make it happen. It looks amazing, and feels more spacious than before strangely enough. We also wanted to knock out part of our kitchen wall, but their were vents in the way making it impossible. They quickly came up with a solution to MOVE THE VENTS (!) at a lower cost than expected. - Professionalism and Quality: The end project was incredible and it feels like a different home. We wanted to completely redo our master bathroom and move a wall so that we could add a bathtub. First we worked with Mega's design consultant, Laissa. She was incredibly patient and helpful and guided us through the process of designing our bathroom, choosing all the fixture and tiles, etc. I have no idea how we would have done it without her. I especially appreciated how they gave us a spreadsheet of all of the fixtures and their prices so that we could easily see how every change of fixture affected the overall price of our project. Once the design was finished, Ibrahim, Juan, and the rest of the construction team took over. They were unfailingly polite and considerate while they were in our home. They were even kind enough to wear masks when we requested it (we have an immunocompromised family member). The construction team regularly consulted us whenever they wanted to confirm a decision and the work was finished well within the time frame we'd been promised. Our bathroom is so beautiful that my mom regularly drags family members upstairs to admire it when we have family events at our home. We did have one issue after construction was finished: a stubborn leak that kept coming back. Mega was very responsive when we reached out to them about the issue and was very proactive about making sure it was fixed and repairing any damage it caused. I would happily hire Mega Kitchen and Bath again in the future and I can't give a better recommendation than that.
