Is he paying me off to change my review or does he 100% agree that I should have gotten my refund? They actually mailed me a check and sent an e-mail with the picture of the check stating I would be getting a refund. I cashed the check and then they STOPPED PAYMENT! I was looking for an apartment preferably New Rochelle and a Garden Style apartment. I saw these apartments on Zillow and I always tried applying to them but never gotten back feedback. A year later after I last applied, I tried reapplying and still got no one. I was in desperate need of an apartment and I really was searching for somewhere quiet, clean, safe and reputable. Additionally, something affordable. The address was disclosed so, I couldn't calk anyone directly but HSHP. Therefore, u decided to take that leap and call inquiring the apartment. I called and actually anticipated to get no response. But, to my surprise a woman answered and her name is Renata Staroselsky. I explained to Renata how eagerly I wanted the apartment to which I described on Zillow. I was amazed at Renata's promptness, Professionalism and most important sympathy. I've had poor run ins with other realtors whose service was poor without even getting to know me! Renata moved so quickly to ensure the apartment was mine. She was so through, exact and fast. It was astonishing how FAST I got approved for the apartment! Coming from my experience with prior realtors, Renata was like a beam of light. She's so sweet, no type of discrimination whatsoever! , she's professional and she WILL WORK to get you what you want! I totaaaaally recommend working with Renata. She's easy going, she listens and she works for the best interests of her client. I don't believe I would have gotten my cute apartment without Renata. It's exactly what I was looking for actually. I kept telling her thank you and will forever tell her thank you VERY MUCH for her services. She hugged me at the end and boy did I need thar hug! Let me say after you sign and give them upfront fee, they will have power to rent you any kind of house... They are checking your back ground once, then building company checking your background too... taking $600 upfront, before showing houses, if you don't like the house they are not giving your money back, and this $600 chancges their attitude to you because they have your money which you would not take it back... They are making you sign a small paper that makes you cannot get any other their apt which they did not show to you and they have in their list; with out fee if you find those houses out of their advise... I worked with 2 agent because first person (John the Italian was explained everything, opened each door with me checked everything with me, told everything about owner(it was constructor company, told me anything about walls, he showed me two apt but i had to find less bedroom apt) deal did not worked with me then Worked with Anthony, he showed me apt did not tell me anything about it, did not tell me how big it is; just said me it is big... did not tell me the utilities till I ask, did not tell me there was a laundry, did not tell me parking is or is not included, he did not tell me anything about the house, he did not tell me the ceiling made out of wood and I can hear anything happen above me and they can hear low music... he was not know how much was parking, he did not show me where laundry is or there was a laundry in the building, Only he told me about the house "this is a busy location and this apt is going fast in few hour I have another appointment, do you want it or not?" And he did not give me any chance because they had my $600 which I cannot get back... in this way two bedroom apartment was $2000 (one parking garage, living room as big as my whole current studio), studio apt was $1400 (parking goes $100 to 150); he made me get studio (they were in same street one min each other)... Before working with these people find apt supers or owners and work with them because these guys doing ok with only for house owners... and their only job checking your credit score... Went to look at an apartments in Westchester. After looking at several in the area i met with an agent of this company to see an apartment they had listed. Although the agent was prompt and professional looking the first red flag was that i had to sign up with their company in order to see the apartment. He said it was mandatory but none of the other companies made me do this. The second red flag was that he required a $600 non-refundable CASH deposit. Then said it MUST be cash. Maybe i had idiot written on my forehead but i decided to go with another company that didn't treat me like an idiot. read more

It is nearly impossible to avoid this company since they seem to own 90% of the listings in southern westchester, which is unfortunate considering they are completely unhelpful and down right rude most of the time. I contacted home sweet home on a number of occasions before i moved into my current place (WHICH I FOUND ON MY OWN) 2 years ago. Each time, they either suggested i get rid of my dogs since it is so hard to rent with them (seriously?) or belittled me for "calling too early before i wanted to move" . They promised to send me any listings they received that allowed dogs. never got a single email, yet i found several of their listings that clearly stated DOGS ALLOWED. I recently called again asking for information on a property listed DOGS ALLOWED. first, i was told im calling too early, someone could take this apartment tomorrow. yes, obviously. when i further inquired about the property since it was listed as a "luxury building that allowed pets" they wouldnt give any, citing "we can't disclose that information" really? why? because you won't get your commission when i go directly to the building? This agency could be the most disreputable company I have ever encountered. Rental agents in Westchester use the MLS system to share rental listings so there's no legitimate reason to not disclose the address of the listing. It is not a "service" to the Landlord. If they respond to this review I'm sure it will be w a BS rationalization about how they have exclusives - don't believe it. In my experience they're not honest about the details ... I was told a unit I was interested was over a "retail store" - the apartment was on the 2nd floor located above a restaurant / bar. Big difference between living over a dry goods store and a bar that serves food. You're required to pay $600 to make an offer on an apartment. There's not a single other rental agent I've talked to who requires payment before signing s lease let alone to begin negotiations. Supposedly, the $600 is either refundable or will be applied to the fee on another apartment but read the other reviews to see how that turns. While the better realtors in the suburbs concentrate on sales rather than rentals there are plenty of hardworking, honest rental agents so there's no need whatsoever to deal with the dishonest, bottom feeders at Home Sweet Home Properties. read more

He sent me the address to a completely different apartment that was the size of a closet, was not even there to show us the apartment, said the door was unlocked. Kim was amazing!!! We called after having trouble finding a place on our own because of budget and need for a place for the fur babies. Other brokers blew us off. We only had one day being up from Florida. She took our parameters and found us a place in one morning -- from looking to signing! Best of all I can have my whole fur family in under one roof. SLUMLORDS. Stay FAR away from these people is all I can truly say. Long story short, I gave them a $600 deposit and $125 application fee for a Dobbs Ferry apartment, both in cash as they demanded on November first at 3:30 pm. 3 hours later at 9 pm I told Anthony Cecere via text message I was no longer interested in for my own personal reasons and that I would be coming the following day to get my deposit back seeing that the application hasn't been process and my credit wasn't run. He immediately told me it's not refundable and I wasted his time and that I have to "pay for the mistake " I made by making a fast decision. It is ILLEGAL in New York for deposits to be non refundable just so everyone is aware!!! They would ONLY be legally allowed to keep my deposit if I had signed a lease and breached it. I NEVER SIGNED A LEASE, NEVER HAD A MOVE IN DATE OR WAS EVEN APPROVED FOR THE APARTMENT. I may have signed an admission agreement that they DID NOT GIVE ME ANY COPIES OF. I went back and forth for hours in text with Anthony who offered to lower the rent, different units and what not, which I was not interested in anything beside my $600 deposit back. After a while, it seemed like he may have been able to make the situation right in giving me my money back. He provided me Adele Powell his supervisors contact info who was very difficult to get in touch with. Constantly never in the office or by her phone. When I finally did,she said she would send me copies of my admission agreement and never did. I called her back to follow up and she was very nasty, saying she was waiting to hear from her broker if they could refund my money. It has been over two weeks and I haven't heard anything and don't believe they have even attempted to make the situation right. I work closely in the Westchester County court system for my job and have already filed a report against them which they the court was familiar with other peoples claims against them. I have no problem going into court to fight for my right for my deposit back. I could care less if I get any threatening emails or calls in regards to this review. I have Westchester County police and Mamaroneck town and village law enforcement long standing relationships so I advise them they don't even try it. It all started about a year ago, i was looking for an apartment in the lower westchester area. I will submit inquiries and never get a call back. I tried calling but i would always get excuses, no one will want to help me or even show me the property i was interested in, so i gave up. Today, I decided to give it a second chance, and regretted instantly. I saw a listing i liked, played phone tag with Michelle, finally when i got a hold of her she wanted to show me other apartments to which i told her i was not interested, because i knew what i wanted. She said she would put me on a brief hold and never came back to the phone (i waited about 7 minutes). I called again, spoke to John who said the apartment will not be ready till later on in the month but "eitherway" he had 15 people ahead of me so to not worry about it. All she wanted was more and more info, even tho supplied in an online form, and even after a long interview and I had told her I had to get off the phone. When told to text or email as I was going to hang up, she did send 29 listings, few of which met the criteria I gave.
