We stuck out like a sore thumb since it's mostly locals who come here, and we got a few stares walking through the aisles, but the workers were all friendly, and for the prices, we were okay being the odd ones out, lol. Just be aware they close fairly early, like 8 p.m., and a few nights when we came here to pick up some booze and snacks for our hotel room, we made it just in time before closing (making sure to leave 10 mins before so as not to hold up the closing staff). You cannot beat the prices here, if you have a kitchenette in your hotel, this place could save you. I'd say for those with Airbnbs who may be doing their own cooking and fishing, you can't beat the prices at this supermarket. They also have their own little deli and a small liquor store inside. Highly recommend it if you're in Homer looking for a good grocery store.

That is a reflection of poor management and planning. Anyone who looks at seasonal fluctuations should know what to expect. I believe what part if the problem is shipments coming to Alaska are very limited and they don't have a storage place to pull from. They, and other smaller grocers should really pull together to find a way to address this issue, because Safeway is not the only grocery that faces this problem with running short of perishable items in between shipments. I…read morehad contacted them the day before our scheduled charter and they were very informative and told me to just give them a call as soon as our boat comes in and they would meet us at the dock with the totes. I informed our captain that we would be utilizing Coal point fish processing so they let them know 20 minutes prior to arriving at the docs and the worker was there waiting for us to pull in to retrieve our fish. I gave him my name my number and off he went. The next day, I called in to make sure that the fish would be ready for pick up as we were heading out of Homer that afternoon. When I was ready to pick up the fish, they pulled it out of the freezer and found the best way to have it packaged to be sent home. We were not leaving till the following day and overnighting in Anchorage. As I did have a cooler with me but our fish weighed 45 pounds and with the cooler it would have been over what is allowed for a bag through the airlines without incurring overweight charges so they suggested to ship it in a box and ensure that it would stay frozen for 36 hours, which gave us enough time to overnight in Anchorage and fly home to Hawaii without being thawed. Because we arrived in Anchorage so late we did not have an opportunity to put it in a freezer overnight, but when we reached home and opened the box and cooler that Coal point had packed for us, all the fish was still rock solid. We were also staying on Homer spit so earlier in the day. I did stop by to check out the location prior to having to come back later to pick up our fish overall such a great experience and I will definitely recommend them to friends and family and also would utilize them again if I ever came back.

They were expensive, but understand they were very good. They shipped the day before, ended up going through Fed Ex. I found out the 'day of' that my shipment would not arrive in time. I had to go out and buy more - at higher prices because before Christmas. That was ok, these things happen - not sure if shipper or Tanner's saving money on Fed Ex - didn't matter, I was the customer and ordered to get this on time for Christmas eve dinner. Tanners rep was very insistent that I check and take pictures of the shipment when it arrived so they could take care of insurance. I did take pictures for them - received shipment about a week late and it smelled so bad that I had to dispose of it. The main issue was - I did get a refund but not a full refund of my USD - shorted my original amount - was 813.38 and got 790.93 less than that and no product, just the hassle of being told I will not be refunded if I did not send pictures and threatening e-mails that I must not refuse the shipment when it arrives. Issue with this company. 1. Does not refund your full amount - buyer beware - you can end up getting nothing and may not get a refund if you refuse the shipment (per company statement) 2. Small apologies - for the delay did't really care- not for the miss of the promised delivery for Christmas eve. 3. Not even a coupon or credit to buy more at a discount. 4. When it happens, they threaten you that you must take the shipment, open it up, take pictures and send or refund is null and void - even if the item was obviously 5+ days late 5. When I responded back in text and requested the payment difference on the amount -shorted (sent a picture) I received no reply to the text even though responses were very quick earlier. You may say, oh - ok, you did get a majority refund so don't complain, but the time I spent on this on the phone and e-mails back and forth was not worth the order in the first place.
