    Pack and seal

This place is so awsome! They met us at the dock, haul away the fillets (was processed by our crew). We only need them to seal in 2lbs each bags. They told us it would take about 2hrs. They called and we came, all 35lbs ready to go. It's only cost $50. I'm very happy with the service. It may add some works but if they weight the fish before at the dock, it would help some people with doub

We DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT recommend this company to process your fish! If I had read a few reviews first, I would not have. They meet you at the dock when your boat arrives. They are super nice and do a good job processing your fish. However, we believe they are dishonest and keep part of your catch! We had 10 halibuts (5 people fishing). Five fish under (28 in.) and five fish over (28 in.) They do not weigh the fish at the docks before taking it so we have no idea of the true weight. But based on weight charts, it should have been more than the 29.5 pounds they charged us to process. We should have had 40 filets (4 from each of the 10 fish). We only received 32....something fishy is going on here! Beware! (They were recommend by Inlet Charters which is the company we went halibut fishing with.)

I've used HFP two years running with great results. Both years they picked up the fish at our charter's location. In '19 we had them ship the 50# boxes (FEDEX) to WI, and the fish were rock hard on arrival. But more importantly, over a year later, the fish taste fresh due to good packaging. This year we were able to transport as carry-on luggage. My two boxes scaled 100# exactly (they know how to pack em!). The packages were to our 1 lb. preference, skin on one side, with a nice amount of skin released to help with removal. Lastly, I have a pretty good estimate of the yield and believe we received exactly what we took in. I'd recommend their services.

Great packaging, made it back to the desert (Yucca Valley) from Homer still frozen after 60+ hours!

They got the job done, super friendly folks! Got a good quality hat too, I'll be back!

    Halibut, yellow eye filets

Spent 3 days fishing in Homer this weekend. Tags had 57.8, 50 and 35.4 lbs. That's 143.2 lbs total. Check in at the airport had 132 total lbs for 3 boxes including box weights with styrofoam. We are missing yellow eye filets pictured our last day fishing and they didn't label or pack the halibut cheeks separately if they packed them at all. It would appear they are skimming fish off their customers. I've heard from other fishermen on boats there they have also been missing fish after using Homer Fish Processing. With the cost to travel, fish, pay for processing and the effort to catch the fish; I would highly recommend not using HFP and seeking out an alternate fish processing vendor in the area.

They did a great job of vacuum sealing our fish and sending it back to us in Hawaii. Everything we caught in Homer was packed perfectly

How long does the boxed fish last after picked up and flying over 20 hours home?

The processed and packaged fish last a great while in the freezer. Ours has lasted over a year without compromising the flavor or texture of the fish.

I…read morehad contacted them the day before our scheduled charter and they were very informative and told me to just give them a call as soon as our boat comes in and they would meet us at the dock with the totes. I informed our captain that we would be utilizing Coal point fish processing so they let them know 20 minutes prior to arriving at the docs and the worker was there waiting for us to pull in to retrieve our fish. I gave him my name my number and off he went. The next day, I called in to make sure that the fish would be ready for pick up as we were heading out of Homer that afternoon. When I was ready to pick up the fish, they pulled it out of the freezer and found the best way to have it packaged to be sent home. We were not leaving till the following day and overnighting in Anchorage. As I did have a cooler with me but our fish weighed 45 pounds and with the cooler it would have been over what is allowed for a bag through the airlines without incurring overweight charges so they suggested to ship it in a box and ensure that it would stay frozen for 36 hours, which gave us enough time to overnight in Anchorage and fly home to Hawaii without being thawed. Because we arrived in Anchorage so late we did not have an opportunity to put it in a freezer overnight, but when we reached home and opened the box and cooler that Coal point had packed for us, all the fish was still rock solid. We were also staying on Homer spit so earlier in the day. I did stop by to check out the location prior to having to come back later to pick up our fish overall such a great experience and I will definitely recommend them to friends and family and also would utilize them again if I ever came back.

Everything was exorbitantly expensive in Alaska in general, but this place had ALL THE DEALS for snacks and booze. We just so happened to catch a glimpse of this place off the main road to and from Homer to some of the surrounding coastal towns and decided to roll up in here, so glad we did. We stuck out like a sore thumb since it's mostly locals who come here, and we got a few stares walking through the aisles, but the workers were all friendly, and for the prices, we were okay being the odd ones out, lol. Just be aware they close fairly early, like 8 p.m., and a few nights when we came here to pick up some booze and snacks for our hotel room, we made it just in time before closing (making sure to leave 10 mins before so as not to hold up the closing staff). You cannot beat the prices here, if you have a kitchenette in your hotel, this place could save you. I'd say for those with Airbnbs who may be doing their own cooking and fishing, you can't beat the prices at this supermarket. They also have their own little deli and a small liquor store inside. Highly recommend it if you're in Homer looking for a good grocery store.
