We purchased a security camera system from Homestar in October of 2024. Upon completion the cost of the system was almost $1000.00 more than the quoted price. After some negotiation we came to an agreeable resolution. Recently the system had some problems and I called them for help. They Failed to return my calls promptly. A text message was sent from Santiago (the technician ) setting up a phone appointment to discuss the problem. He never called. I contacted the camera manufacturer and they recommended another company. Secure-Tel came out and fixed my problems. They we're on time and reasonably priced read more

It took a few days to get this project done, unexpectedly there was someone who called off and couldn't finish the job sooner (same day) as stated in the beginning of the process. Overall the system is set up nicely and don't have any issues so far! read more

I moved into my community in February and had them install the system Twice I've had to have service now the whole system is down and they're charging me to fix it 3 months of service 3 service calls and the system is down and no one can fix it ! Terrible customer service and reliability. The sales agent put forth incorrect information, the installation person was unable to install because their system was down and had to come back another day where he had the same issue but was finally able to finish. However, when he did come back he didn't come back with the correct number of cameras and sensors. Both times my husband or I have had to stay home from work day. I have spent hours on the phone with agents with dropped calls, numerous transfers repeating the same information. A lot Of neighbors use bay and sterling for their security. Wish I went with them. I have had ADT security alarm for 13 years. Works fine. BUT try to get a service guy, or part replacement, or any other kind of service apart from buying the system - NO LUCK. I need a technician to come out and add some new sensors. Voicemail hell. Sent from one operator to another, everyone had me go through the security check. After 5-6 operators, finally the right sales person. Then they cut me off. This happened twice now and has happened in the past. This company provides good security stuff, will sell you any additions. But servicing what you have bought? Oh no. And nobody seems to be able to send me on the phone to the right person until operator number 5 or 6. Find another company with the same good stuff but actually servicing it as well. read more

Short story: Quality customer service with professional grade work! Long story: I began research on security cameras in November 2020. I was new to the scene. I had no clue about what were the features I needed for a security camera. Like any other consumer, I looked at the popular consumer brands (e.g Ring, Arlo, Nest, etc...). However, after trying them all I was not impressed. Most of those brands require you to have a monthly cloud subscription and require you to replace the battery after several weeks. Replacing batteries was not an option for me as I planned to place the cameras on the exterior of the building, and on the 2nd floor. For safety reasons, I didn't want my family or I to risk injury while changing the battery. I then thought about connecting the cameras directly to power. However, you will notice that most brands will only offer charging cable that are up to 30' in length, and must be connected to an A/C outlet. This left me back at square one. I needed a camera which did not depend on battery power, allowed me to store my recording locally, and allowed me to run cables over 50' in length. This led me to look at Costco. I saw various brands with DVR/NVR and power of ethernet. I was about to buy from Costco, until I decided it was best to first find a professional who could install the cameras. I called around, I got offers from $100 - $200 to install each camera. Each business stated that they could do the installation, but could not provide warranty on cameras, as the cameras were not bought from their vendors. Fair enough. I had to make decision. Save money by buying the cameras from Costco and only paying for the installation labor, but risk not having warranty on the cameras. I did some research online and found stories where cameras malfunctioning within a few weeks, and horror stories dealing with customer service trying to get the cameras replaced. This honestly troubled me because I may think I was saving money, but in the longer term, I would be paying it my time. Never forget, time is money. I called various vendors to seek advice. My internet research could only take me so far, I wanted to talk to someone in the business. I got a few replies at first. Most lost momentum after a few replies, except for Homestar Security ADT. Brian, from Homestar Security ADT, responded to all my questions. Brian did not shy away from any questions I had about the cameras, regardless how technical or silly the question was, he answered it. Brian shared his knowledge with me and was honest with me about the quality of cameras in the market. I told him about my plan about buying the cameras from Costco. He was direct with me and told that Homestar Security ADT could install it for me, but their quality of cameras were superior to any camera being sold at Costco. This surprised me. I asked Brian what brands of cameras Homestar Security ADT was installing? He told me, "we work with the top brands such as Dahua and Hikvision." After hearing that, I told Brian to give me some time to do some more research. Sure enough, these brands were leaders in the market. They had everything I was looking for, Power over Ethernet (PoE), color night vision and NVR. I should add, this whole interaction spanned over multiple weeks. Throughout the whole process Brian and I stayed in contact trying to figure out what was best setup for my needs. Brain visited the property, reviewed my drawings, and provided suggestions on getting the best angles. Brian's customer service was remarkable. He worked within my budget and did not try to upsell me. I appreciated his professionalism and honesty. Once we had everything planned, Brian schedule an appointment for Santiago to perform the installation. Santiago was just as professional and honest as Brian. Santiago arrived on time and texted me in advance. When Santiago arrived he came prepared with his mask and all his tools. I showed Santiago my drawing and the he already had an idea how to conceal the ethernet cables effectively. Santiago inspected all the locations and gave me suggestions on how to maximize the viewing area of the cameras. When Santiago was in the attic, he was kind enough to do a quick inspection for mold or other maintenance repairs I may have neglected. He found that I needed to change my air filter. It had mold growing on it, I had no idea! Santiago did a spectacular job installing the cameras. He took his time to ensure everything was perfect. He made sure to conceal the ethernet cables as discreetly as possible. He was so patient with us. We had him change the camera's position multiple times until we got the perfect viewing angle. He did this with a smile. Santiago took about 6-8 hours to install all 5 security cameras. He configured the NVR, set the motion sensors and showed us how to use the mobile app. Brian and Santiago were the best! Would I recommend them for your job? Brian ADT Tech took the call, and provided us a rough estimate with Alarmed ADT system ($1300-$1600)and wired ADT system ($3200-$5000). Chose for wireless ADT system, couple of things, the app is friendly however it takes time to load. I am still waiting for them to come back and install the doorbell camera which I haven't received a date yet. The cameras look amazing and it's two way talk system. I will update my review once they install my doorbell So an update, the tech came back to install doorbell and this time it was Sandiego who did it. He was so knowledgeable and so helpful that he even fixed our router and relocated our panel which seems like hard for the first tech named Rafael who came in the beginning.
