Stopped in on 5/10/24, and the gal I dealt with was extremely curt. I stayed friendly in hopes of improving the interaction, with no luck. We all have bad days (if that even what caused the problem), but I do my best to keep it from affecting my public interactions. I doubt I'll be back. Today is 12.28 at 10:25 am. I'm still in the parking lot writing this review. From the moment I walked in, I felt like the sales women were annoyed I was there. I was the only one in the store. I looked around for about five minutes before asking for assistance. The woman with short hair and a hat reluctantly assisted me. Shortly after, a couple came in looking for a specific shoe, and the sales woman asked "do you want to try this one on... even though you already have them on?" with a disgusted tone. When the customer said yes and then said in she wanted to try it on in a specific color, I could see the sale woman (not facing the customer) roll her eyes. How gross. I will never shop here simply for the fact for the poor customer service. read more

I'm taken aback at how rude the sales girl was to me today. Her tone was condescending and she seemed bothered that I was asking questions. I came in to purchase a specific pair of shoes and ended up leaving and not buying them because of how rude she was. Every time I've been in there the sales people seem bothered and not very engaging or helpful, it's like they expect you know what you're looking for and just grab sizes for you. It's a bummer because they have a decent selection but very off-putting atmosphere. I wont be back. read more

I 100% agree with all the other reviews of the ride sales girls. I walked into the store looking to buy, and it was an inconvenience that I wanted to try some sandals on. They asked zero questions and when I asked to try a pair on, it looked like I interrupted their quiet gossiping behind the counter and i asked for a shoe size and she didn't say anything, just left to the back and I said thanks! And still nothing. Then when I needed a different pair to try on there wasn't anyone there to get me another size and I had to ask her again and she was pissed. When I was trying on this pair I felt very awkward and uncomfortable like I needed to get the heck out the store. Anyways you get the point. I ended up buying a pair online instead of in person because of the negative energy from the employees. read more

They move slower than a snail that is dying. It's absolutely ridiculous! Took 15 minutes to punch an extra hole in one pair of shoes. There was one other customer and 4 people "working". One person was helping 2 people while the others stood around with blank stares on their faces. What in the world?!?!I will never go there again. Rude and lacking knowledge of product. The woman working there was abrupt and unpleasant in her answers to my questions. she refused to even look up from her desk to make eye contact. One of the shoes I wanted was not available (due to Very Limited Selection!!! ) in store but was in the online This Season Catalog...The worman insisted it was vintage and no longer available. I left without shoes but kept my money - I wouldnt buy shoes from that woman at that store if you paid me. read more

Called the store to check on availability of a particular style and size of sandal, as the manufacturer's website was out of stock. Jim advised that they had three such pair in the store right now. Made the forty minute drive to Northtown Mall in the pouring rain, and it was totally worth it! Not only did they have the sandals in stock, but Jim fitted me to make sure that was the correct size, he explained to me the proper care for the footbed, his wife who helps run the store advised about the break in period. They were both friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable about the brand. An excellent experience, and I highly recommend shopping at Homestead Birkenstock! Thank you so much!! read more

A few months ago my mother and I went in to buy her a pair of shoes. The woman working was rude and refused to listen to my mother when she said the shoes were too small. She aggressively sold her a pair shoes that she said would break in if she just dealt with the discomfort. Being past the point of being able to return the shoes, and several days of extreme discomfort trying to shove her foot all the way into the shoes, she's given up on them. What a waste of money. Fast forward a few months and I'm Christmas shopping for my boyfriend. I find a pair of clearance sandals, one in my boyfriend's size, and one in a much smaller size. I'm with my friend, who peruses the sock display while I debate my purchase. I ultimately decide to think about it while I go to a few other stores. My friend purchases a pair of socks. We leave. We go back about 30 minutes later, because I've decided I want those sandals for my boyfriend. When I give the lady the size I want, she asks me to put it back on the display because she has 2 in that size. I buy the sandals. We leave again. As we near the exit, I look in the bag, and realize the woman working gave me the wrong size. We immediately turn back for the store, not 5 minutes after we left, so that I can swap for the right pair. My friend stops at the Thomas Hammer across the way from this store while I tended to the employee's mistake. When I walk in, the woman with short grey hair and a in a sling says to the man working, "that's the woman who was with the other woman." I ask if they need her for something and then things falls apart. The woman walks over to the display of socks my friend had been browsing. She shows me 2 empty racks and says that she had just stocked them before we came in, and then they were empty when we left. It was the Friday before Christmas and the store had a steady stream of shoppers all 3 times I was there. I was shocked and offended that they would question my friend's integrity, and said that she would be more than happy to comply with whatever they wanted to clear the air. I met my friend back at Thomas Hammer and told her what had just happened. She went over to the store and, again, offered to let them search her bag, her coat, etc. They told her it was a misunderstanding, and that searching her wasn't necessary. Insulted and embarrassed, we leave. Later that evening the more I thought about it, and the more people I told, the less I wanted to support this business. I went back the next day to get a refund for my purchase. The woman working was the same pushy sales lady from the shopping trip with my mom a few months before. She told me that she couldn't refund my purchase because it was a sale item. She said I'd have to come back the next day to talk to her manager. I suggested she call her manager to obtain permission, but she said she wasn't allowed to call management on their day off. I told her I didn't care, and that after the humiliation and false accusations of the day before I wanted my money back. She said she had heard about the situation from the day before, and that they believed we dumped the socks off in the car before we came back. They genuinely think that she stole those socks. I didn't get my refund. But I did file a formal complaint with NorthTown Mall after the lady with the shoulder length hair and black framed glasses called security on me because I told her I was not coming back the next day for the refund, that she needed to figure it out then. To summarize: The people working that store will; 1. Aggressively sell you shoes that don't fit, telling you to suffer through the break-in pain, and just shove your foot in further. 2. Not pay attention to the size you're asking for, and the size they actually bag up and sell you. 3. Label you a thief, and then deny you the opportunity to prove your innocence. Do yourself a favor, buy your Birkenstocks literally anywhere else. read more
