I absolutely LOVE Green Dirt Farm! It for sure should be on your must visit list when coming to…read moreWeston. It has a very different vibe and menu than the other places in town which is a nice switch up but it is outside of the main area of town a bit (still only like a 3-5 minute drive from downtown so not bad at all). They have amazing sandwichs, soups, and charcuterie boards. Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. The outdoor seating area is quite vast with plenty of room to spread out and get some fresh air when it's nice out! All the employees were super nice and willing to give honest suggestions on what to get. I would love to do a wine tasting and try other menu items next time I visit! Add this place to your list for your next trip!

Oof. Big changes at GDFC in the last few months. Came in for my normal start of spring trip after…read morejust being here in late fall, and the whole inside is different (less retail, more space) and several new kitchen remodel upgrades. It looks clean but isn't the same home-y spot we all loved. The kicker, though, is they changed the menu boards which now don't tell you what things are and they've like everyone else increased prices of normal items, including items that used to be included. Sandwiches used to come with chips, and now sandwiches are more and the small single size of chips are $4! Apparently they didn't read PepsiCo just missed a billion dollars in sales because they keep raising prices on Doritos. I can see add-ons for high quality products like soup, specialty fries, etc. I also know GDFC has expanded into KC, and I've been and spent healthy money at that luxury spot several times. But c'mon, this is just ludicrous charges at this point. When I realized the chip change, I asked for a refund of those alone, and the new sales terminal system took forever for multiple people to figure out. The manager on duty had to ultimately refund the whole thing, and reorder my entire order, meaning it's now cost all of us money in time. The staff is completely different - there's a chef in the back wearing a white coat like it's fine dining... the rest of the staff is friendly enough, but also not the same level of home we all got used to for many years. My sandwich finally came out, and it looks nothing like what we used to get - the Cuban is on a hoagie style roll. Not even that good anymore. No more winery inside, and limited drink options overall. And no more fresh ice cream, just overpriced "soft serve." I know we're in times that are a'changin... but some of it has gone too far. Hopefully they keep the same level of loyal business I imagine they had before. My loyalty has definitely shifted instantly to once in a while, if that.

Brands: Borden Cheese Breakstone's Butter (trademark licensed from Kraft Heinz) Cache Valley Creamery California Gold Dairy Products Cass Clay Craigs Station Creamery Dairy Maid Dairy Falfurrias Guida's Dairy Hotel Bar Keller's Creamery Kemps La Vaquita Live Real Farms Oakhurst Plugrá Sport Shake I recently purchased the Breakstone's Whipped Butter. I've purchased it in the past. The taste is great. I'm a fan of a lot of Breakstone's products. The issue is with the typical butter consistency. It's very hard after refrigeration. I find it difficult to spread. I have family members that leave their butter out on the counter. Not a good idea for me. I'm one person it's going to take me forever to finish the tub I bought. I'm just glad to have butter during Covid House Arrest! So it looks like I'm thankful on many levels to DFA! I'm a huge fan of farmers to begin with. This cooperative was formed in 1998. I think it's a great idea! Despite some controversy regarding contract pricing, I'll continue to support their efforts to feed us. Besides I have fond memories of Borden's Elsie the Cow!

Plugrá review…read more Remember that asparagus risotto that I recently made? Well, the big pat of butter on top of the cooking asparagus was Prugrá. To me it does taste better than any other grocery store brand that I purchase. While there are criticisms that it is not likely to be GMO free, it is billed as European style. This means a higher percentage of butterfat at 82-83%. I find the flavor quite distinctive, delicious on bread. Troubling extra calories? Not if one moderates usage, which makes it all the more a treat. Faddish media chefs dictate using only unsalted butter. However, some of them are now admitting that salted butter can be mighty good. https://plugra.com/recipes/ https://plugra.com/recipe/pistachio-cake/ https://plugra.com/recipe/coconut-layer-cake/

However, while in the area I decided to stop by since I am in the midst of a kitchen remodel, and I did not like the vibe I received from the woman in the store. I do not believe that she was the proprietor but someone who seemed to have hawkish eyes and a bit of cynical skepticism about her. I do not present myself like the regular provincial type of women from these parts. I am cool and confident and humble (but not in that Mary Kay way, if you know what I mean). It seems that I didn't fit her particular vision of who she wanted in there. B.T.W, I was the only there and am not surprised if this is because others have felt the same. I almost was about to purchase something that I liked but decided that I could definitely find it elsewhere.

They have all sorts of meat from beef to chicken and even sometimes rabbit. They also have eggs of different varieties including duck and turkey. They also have cheeses and charcuterie items. They have lots of pickled items. And even premade meals like pot pies, breakfast burritos, mac & cheese, and the last time I was in a stroganoff. In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Highly recommend. If you are in the city market area definitely stop in and check out what they have.
