Our friends kindly hosted us at their Cape May beach house this weekend and catered our lunch and dinner from Homestyle To Go to make it easier. It was delicious! For lunch we had two different sandwiches which came with a bag of chips: the chicken cutlet caprese: jersey tomatoes, basil pesto & mozzarella - 4/5, the chicken cutlet is sliced into thin pieces and mixed in with the tomatoes, pesto and mozzarella - I think I would have enjoyed this more if it was served as a piece of chicken cutlet topped with the other items. In this format it was a little hard to eat (I ended up scraping the chicken out of the bread to eat it that way), and not satisfying as a sandwich the fried eggplant, roasted peppers, sauteed spinach, tomatoes & mozzarella - 5*/5, generous slices of lightly breaded fried eggplant topped with the other items for a "meaty" sandwich, very delicious! For dinner we had the halibut with braised leeks and ratatouille over polenta, it was amazing! I'm not sure if I can recreate this at home but the combination of the perfectly prepared halibut over the creamy polenta accented by slices of the leek, topped with what I could have believed was the typical topping for eggplant or chicken parmigiana (maybe that would be easier than making ratatouille?) - sumptuous! Now that I know about Homestyle To Go I'll definitely order from there instead of eating out in Cape May every night as we usually do when we stay on the Cape. So many more things to try! read more

This small joint has great food to go for lunch, dinner or beach. I had the beef empanadas and they were a great lunch. The outer shell is soft and flakey, while beef was just perfect. Although, they would be best with some sort of dip, I was pretty happy. My hubs had the Chicken cutlet caprese on a ciabatta style bread. He was really satisfied with that for a more filling meal than the empanadas. The shop has a lot to offer, full meals for families or the regular menu of burgers, soups, wraps and more. My husband & I ordered an eggplant stack and an eggplant dinner, the dinner came with Penne & Caesar salad, it was delicious and there were multiple other side options available, garlic mashed, Mac & cheese, asparagus & a vegetable medley. We will definitely be going back to try other meals, they offer many interesting choices that we can't wait to try. This is the best eatery in Cape May!!! Cannoli cake is to die for. But...their burgers are to be highly spoken of as well. Andrew, the owner, was helpful in selecting my meal, and very knowledgeable of Cape May for me as a visitor. Teeny was friendly and helpful as well. They have entire coconuts to drink here, great chicken and dumpling soup, and their NJ clam chowder is to die for. Chocolate peanut butter tuxedo cake is remarkable. It seemed weak because the garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were allowed to meld into a watery, sloshy bed for the salmon to float in. The quinoa was ok, as were the salads, but insufficient dressing was supplied, and one of the side salads was missing. For northwards of $125 I expected more. Cannot recommend. read more

My dad and stepmom picked up a sampling of their homemade desserts while visiting with my husband and I in Cape May. I tried everything but the cheesecake, which I don't eat. Everything was absolutely delicious- some of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The brownie with chocolate sauce and PB mousse was perfection. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the apple pie, which had a crumb-cake like topping. Even the chocolate with "dipping sauces" were phenomenal!! All four of us were plenty full from sampling these four desserts- and even had leftovers for the next night! We come to Cape May every year and this year we have been so disappointed with the restaurants here, the COVID-takeout thing seems to be affecting size and quality and everyone is stressed (understandably). But Homestyle is always takeout and they have it down. We had to order a day in advance but it was worth it, and it was done on time, efficiently and with a smile. We got the quinoa bowls with wild salmon and avocado on mine and portabella mushroom on my boyfriend's, and split a spinach salad. Pretty healthy, right? And yet, intensely decadent. There was like half an avo in my bowl; I split it with Dave. The spinach salad was loaded with walnuts, blue cheese, pears and dried cranberries - we were fighting over it. I cannot say enough good things about my experience working with Andrew in planning menus for 16 meals to celebrate my husband's birthday. Andrew had to accommodate several food allergies and did so beautifully. Breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes were absolutely delicious, creatively done and beautifully presented. The desserts were yummy too, especially the brownies, cookies and très Leche cake. The apple pie cheesecake was also a winner. We so enjoyed Andrew's breakfast frittatas, pastries, breakfast burritos, interesting and tasty wraps (the best turkey wrap ever!) for lunch as well as elaborate entrées for dinner. We found his portions to be generous and very filling. Andrew was courteous and the food arrived when we needed it. Our experience was nothing but positive. HORRIBLE customer service. Didn't get to try their food, tried to place a $900+ catering order. They said they'd send an email for deposit. Called hours later, they had my email wrong so I corrected it. Called next day after still getting nothing and they still had my email wrong and said they were sending now. Waited and nothing. Called back and the female owner was EXTREMELY rude--said she was too busy to talk to me and to stop bothering her, "we sent the email 5 times already". When I said that I'm just trying to pay them money for an over $900 order she straight up said, "well, we get orders like that everyday SOOOO" and hung up on me. I called back to cancel and the male owner did apologize and admitted my email was wrong but said they were extremely busy with customers "that were in their face right now". I'm sorry, I'm also a customer? Ultimately decided to cancel the order and they just said "okay" and hung up. I'm seriously shocked. Edit: The owner responded to this review and is blatantly lying. I called one time on Sunday evening to ask where the email was after waiting all of Saturday and Sunday for a response (note, they AGAIN had my email wrong even after I corrected it), and then again after waiting for it again to be chewed out. Hardly harassment, I'm sorry you mistook TRYING TO PAY THE DEPOSIT that you told me was necessary for an order of this size as harassment. They Have Done it Again! Oh my gosh, these people can anything. We had a small dinner party and the chef, without being asked, made on of the pasta entrees with an additional portion that was gluten free and vegan for one of our beloved guests.
