My sister and I stopped by while we were driving around the Cape May area. We decided to give this a try since we were craving seafood. The restaurant is located in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. The staff is friendly. The food was ok. The food was cooked, hot, but flavorless. We ordered fried calamari, chicken cheesesteak, and special #11 - fried clam strips with fries. My sister did not like her chicken cheesesteak. It was warm and freshly made, but flavorless. It almost seemed microwaved. Fried calamari had no flavor either. The breading was decent, but flavorless. My order of fried clam strips was not what I'm used to. I've had clam strips in Rhode Island that were actual clams, fried and flavored so well that it was the star dish. It could have been better. We ordered to go. The inside looked dingy so it's not meant to be a sit in restaurant. Overall, from this experience, I would say the food can definitely be improved, but I would look elsewhere. read more

While in Cape May for a few days recently, we decided to give this place a try since it was close to the house we rented and we just wanted to stay in for the night. Plus, they had turkey dinners to go! Yes, fresh roasted turkey & all the fixings including cranberry sauce. We got two orders, but the portions were so generous, that one would have sufficed. We grabbed food for takeout, and the customer service was out of this world pleasant. They have a nice outside seating area under cover and a small area inside with tables to eat as well. The place is a little busy on the eye and can be overwhelming, but it also has a lot of options to offer depending on your craving. Our order was completed for us to take within ten minutes, and we enjoyed both the broiled and fried scallops. I highly recommend the roasted potatoes as a side and would skip the mashed potatoes next time around. Another in the group enjoyed the blackened chicken sandwich as well. Fabulous little take out spot. They care about the food and customers and are friendly. After reading the reviews I suggest that vacationers consider the following: this is a local favorite spot. A small, independently owned business. The kind that gives character to a place and makes a community stable and strong. Accept it for what it is and enjoy! If you're worried and you want to know exactly what to expect there's a McDonalds across the street. But if you want a meal prepared with care and with quality ingredients then go to Mike's. My family and I just ate there. Saw so many great reviews. So we figured, let's go for it. My husband got a fried flounder sandwich and I got a chix parm sandwich. We shared two orders of mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks were too overcooked. The chicken park sandwich was a huge piece of chicken on a tiny bun. Fries were cold. Why did we come here? I have been wanting to try new places in the Cape May area and love seafood. We ¨dressed" for dinner and came here. Ordered two seafood platters and a greek salad as an appetizer. Was seated on an old picnic table with plastic chairs on a busy street. Waited a long time for food and was brought out three large plastic containers with hardly anything in them. Super environmentally unfriendly. We were told our Greek salad was still being made but that we could start on our entrees??? What? Who serves the entrees before the salad? The salmon was overcooked, flavorless and a small portion for $19. By the time our salad came out we were already done with our meal. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in quite sometime. Giving it two stars as people were polite and recognize that maybe this is just better as a sandwich place. If you are thinking about a date night or a nice sit down meal this is for sure not the place for that. read more

Reading some of these reviews made me feel as if I was entering Hell's Kitchen, being run by Doc and Mrs Hyde - but it was quite normal, and I'm glad we risked it. It is primarily a take out place, with a few indoor seats that appeared rather gloomy, and about 6 covered outdoor tables set in a parking lot. So carry out is def the fine dining option! This directly on the way to the Ferry, so is a convienent and easy stop. A huge menu, there is def something for everyone. We ordered a cheesesteak with fries, which was cooked to order. It was very good. Cheesy, high quality meat on a bun. It comes with onions and peppers, but we had them left off for dietary reason. It was a well stuffed hoagie. No complaints at all. The accompanying fries were hot and crisp and, as previously reported, completely unseasoned. Which, unlike the others, I prefer. I like to add my own, and I really only want salt and pepper. They gave us salt, pepper, and catsup - so not sure what 'seasonings' people are wanting and not getting. Service was pleasant and prompt. Utensils, etc were provided. We had the cheesesteak, chicken parm sandwich, and Cesar salad. The quality of the meat in the cheesesteak as poor and the bread was soggy despite the fact that I asked for it to be toasted. The chicken itself was shredded and the "breading" was complete gelatinous mush! The sauce was sweet. The whole dinner was literally inedible. The shrimp dinners lacked any flavor or seasoning- like... not even salt in the breading. It was as plain as plain could be. I would not recommend this place nor return. read more

I called Mike's a few times over the course of the day. They were so friendly and helpful. Although Doordash didn't work out, my parents raved about the food! This place makes all of its own breads as well as home made deserts. Food is delicious and plentiful. It is an out parcel of a shopping center, not much to look at, but a great place for dinner when dinner must be good and you don't want to (or can't) do it yourself. I ordered seafood chowder for lunch. It was boiling hot ( like a volcano ) and too hot to eat. A few tablespoons I did manage to swallow almost scolded my throat and the chowder had a sour taste. Seafood pieces were chewy and overcooked. I did not finish this delicacy. My friends soup was also scalding hot and not finished. If soups and stews are boiling HOT, watch out ! In fairness, the grilled cheese was ordinary ( no choice of cheese or bread ) and the fries were good. We both thought the service could have been better. Just ate here for the first time and loved it! We have been coming to the same spot in Cape May for 40 years and never knew about. I had blackened grouper and my husband had the broiled crab cakes and others were delicious! Our kids had a hot dog (biggest hot dog ever!) and a cheeseburger with awesome crispy fries.
