We arrived for brunch on a gorgeous June morning and loved everything about this place! Our server was engaging, friendly and efficient. We sat on the lovely patio which was lined with flowers. We all ordered the crab Benedict. It was beautifully presented and ingredients were fresh tasting with lots of crab beneath two perfectly poached eggs and sliced ripe tomato. This is one of the best brunches I have had in a long time! I love the restaurants in the Kara restaurant group and was excited to try Vintage out for the first time this weekend. It was the only spot we could find that had a reservation for 7. It is BYOB so be sure to bring champagne if you want mimosa! They have OJ. The menu is very unique and has a great mix of breakfast and brunch options. I had the crab benedict and it was perfection. It comes with a croissant base, crab, bacon. hollandaise, and a poached egg. I got it with no tomato. It was the perfect bite of food! So much flavor and texture! It came with a side salad and I really loved the dressing and sesame seeds. Every single person loved their meal! This is absolutely a must try in my book. The service was spectacular and our waiter was patient and described things about the menu to us. He answered my questions with great detail. The food was exquisite. I was quite surprised given that it was Cape May; and one does not exactly come here for cuisine. However, the yellowfina tuna bites with the citrus pairing was phenomenal and the fish simply melted in the mouth. Both entrees of ours, the momo pork and duck confit were large portioned, exactly the amount one would expect for the price charged. Both proteins laid on roasted vegetables that went well with the meat. The pork was juicy and flavorful as was the duck. The flavors were delightful. The sides: Broccolini and Trio Carrots were cooked to perfection. I would absolutely come here again and highly recommend it to others! read more

Super cute little restaurant in the back of the Carriage Inn- you can choose to sit outside or in their weatherproof tent. Our server was very polite and professional! He helped us choose our meals. My mom loved her salmon, it was rubbed in a small amount of Cajun (you can adjust amount). My fish was a fillet stuffed with crab, covered in hollandaise sauce.. delicious!! For our appetizer, we selected the spanakopita- this is one of the best ones I've had. It wasn't too dry and was packed with filling. The menu is small yet offers an extensive variety of dishes for any preference. The dessert menu was 4, vastly different yet all amazing-sounding desserts. We went for the chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse in a chocolate ganache shell.. wow wow wow. The cake was moist and all the chocolates were super rich and flavorful. We had a very nice brunch with delicious entrees - I had the salmon and my sisters had the pancake charcuterie board and everyone loved their dishes. It us BYO so we brought champagne / prosecco and non alcoholic bubbly to celebrate my sisters baby shower/ sprinkle and they brought us orange juice for mimiosas... Then we toured the grounds include the cow shed, the store and booked a tour of the home on the property - which was Awesome!!! We stopped by Vintage BYOB for the most delicious, lovely outdoor dining experience this June in Cape May. Add this to your list for brunch this summer. The outdoor setting was so quaint and beautiful with tons of greenery, fresh air, & flowers. While you're there you can take a Cape May MAC trolley tour or tour of the estate too. Both of our meals, the Crab Egg's Benedict & Butter Upon Bacon (essentially eggs Benedict over bacon on a croissant), were absolutely delectable. My cappuccino was perfect. They also have iced coffee and other n/a drinks &, of course as the name describes, you can BYO champagne or wine. Our service was great and I'd definitely recommend this spot. read more

First off, very weird. We got there and the host said we only could sit outside. Excuse me?! We happened to have AC issues in the car and that's not something I could tolerate. There were empty tables inside. I made a reservation. Why? Later I figured out. Coz we have kids. And the families who got seated outside also have kids. Well, that's just charming and graceful. Service is great. Waitress is kind and warm. Let's talk about food. I think this might be more of a breakfast/brunch place other than dinner. The desert waffle is the best my husband said he has had for a while. The crab arrugla salad was good. The pasta was also good. The salmon is ok. The tuna rice noodle is not good. Rice noodles are not soft enough and the tuna tastes very not restaurant quality. There were a lot of flies. Overall, it is not very enjoyable. We won't be returning. read more

Our group of seven had brunch at Vintage today. The food was wonderful. I especially liked my crab benedict which was served on a half croissant, and the egg was cooked perfectly for me - soft yolk and firm whites. Some friends had the avocado toast and felt there could have been more avocado. We asked the hostess if we could sit outside and she initially said there were no tables available. There was a round and a square table side-by-side of similar sizes, and I asked if they could be put together. She said it was impossible because they were different shapes. We had to insist that this would work and indeed it did. But why wasn't she able to think outside the box to satisfy our request? The waiter was friendly but very inattentive. He never came back to refill water glasses (which did not have ice, by the way) and service was rather slow. He apologized for the slowness, but still, it took unreasonably long between ordering and receiving food, and then receiving the bill at the end. He had trouble understanding me when I asked that the whites of the poached egg be firm but the yolk could be runny. I don't know why this was so confusing. It was a lovely place to have brunch and I would go there again, but they need to work on their service. read more

I am so disappointed. I have wanted to come to Vintage for a while and never seem to have been able to. The atmosphere is beautiful and should have been backed up by darn good food for the cost. For those who know my reviews, I rarely give negative ones, especially since covid. So here goes.......We sat down and shortly after we were warmly greeted. Brought our own wine since BYOB. Ordered 2 appetizers 1. Kobe sliders 2.crab cake. Sliders where hockey pucks, told the waitress we couldn't eat them as they were so hard and she asked it we wanted them wrapped to take home.....what? The crab cakes where ok but way too much mayonnaise sauce on top, way too much. Dinner well after the appetizers it took 40 minutes to get our food. The table next to us came in after us, order appetizers, received their dinner before us and paid their check before we got our dinner. Our theory is that they ordered the same thing we did and our meals where given to them. Our waitress came out and said you didn't get your food? Nope and then it took more time. Dinner finally came. We ordered the lamb chops special and Chilean Sea Bass. The sides where all cold. The Sea Bass came in 3 medallions. The first piece was so hard and over cooked it was upsetting, however pieces 2 and 3 where cooked correctly. The lamb was good, not cooked the way we were told. Best part of the meal was the dessert. A GF waffle with cream, chocolate, whip cream and strawberries. Now here is the kicker. The waitress comes over with the dessert and says for all the trouble tonight we are giving you the dessert with our compliments. But then the check comes and they never removed the sliders......so no the dessert was not on you. Total cost with tip was $168.00. So disappointing. Did you guess? Can't recommend............Note to kitchen get your act together!! read more

Definitely put this restaurant on your "must" list. Remarkable dinner under the tent despite the rain. Dinner started with the F.T.W. - feta, tomato, watermelon salad - refreshing and plenty big enough to share - ours was especially charming with yellow melon. My dinner companion was lured by the lamb chop special (8 lollipops!) that was a beauty to behold but I could not resist the sea bass. The fish was buttery - two medallions, the curried cauliflower was a savory accent and the asparagus spears were very slim and tender. I cannot describe how velvety and satisfying the dish was. BYOB is a twist that makes dinner seem more affordable (LOL) - did I really see our waitress use different corkscrew to open white vs red? Fabulous staff!!!Yes, there were desserts but we couldn't eat another bite. Exceptional experience. I would go back every night if I could! read more

Steak comes "chefs temp". Apparently the chef's temp is well done. Sounds like a way for them not to make you another steak if the chef over cooks it. You have to pay for the bread. Which is actually worth it because it was the only thing that was very good here. read more

An amazing experience from start to finish. We were there celebrating my mom's birthday while away on a family trip. Vintage and our server, Dylan, completely blew it out of the water. Dylan was absolute perfection in every way. You really don't see this kind of service anymore. The food was unbelievable. Every dish we tried (and we got to try almost the whole menu), was amazing. My fiancé is a professional chef, so it's very hard to impress him, but he was just as impressed as the rest of us. The ambiance is also truly special. I'm so happy we found this place. Yes! Just so much yes! This little BYOB is tucked behind the historic Physick House in Cape May - offering the most approachable, boutique setting for dinner. Gorgeous grounds are coupled with exceptional service (Dillon was amazing!). They are pet friendly, going out of their way to serve our pup the finest of waters. All our dishes were fantastic but the table favorites were the tenderloin flatbread, Watermelon/feta salad, and the duck. Grilled salad was also great and while an app - can for sure be an entree. This was the A+ service and meal we were looking for. It's hard to find at the Jersey Shore and Vintage did not disappoint. read more

Overall *** Vintage is part of the famous Kara Restaurant Group that includes the Cape May favorite, George's Place. This is their newest venture and it has real potential but it not ready for prime time in my opinion. The estate it sits on is beautiful and the service was generally above average. The price point is very good but there were too many questionable dishes for me to push this higher. I will return but for now the weighted grade comes in right at 3 Stars. Setting **** They just recently opened this establishment at the Emlen Physick Estate in the rear. You can turn in at the tennis courts and follow the gravel road around to the back. Due to coronavirus they only offered outdoor dining and I never got to see inside but the Estate grounds are very nice and they put up a large tent, strung it with lights and have fans and some air conditioning underneath. There was a larger table set out on the grass and surrounded by trees that looked like something out of a magazine. The setting will surely impress and the only thing holding me back from 5 Stars is that I just didn't see inside. Service **** Friendly, generally efficient and it seems they work in teams as our server changed a few times throughout the evening. They are new so I won't beat them up too much for seemingly not using seat numbers and instead auctioning off the food as it came out. I did take points off as my meal was terrible and she said at the end she would have gotten me something else which I might have done but she was nowhere to be found after the food arrived. Food ** We were a large group and decided to sample most of the listed appetizers which were hit or miss. Misses include; Steakhouse Sliders - The meat resembled a breakfast sausage patty, not bad but not great either. Halibut Credo - I think they attempted a Ceviche here but it definitely did not work. The plate appearance was a turn off as it resembled a log of mashed potatoes and tasting it was worse, tough, chewy and raw. The Hits include; Los Pollas Hermanos - These were sort of a Buffalo Chicken Toquito and were fantastic, we were all fighting for the last bite. Arancini - Basically a Rice Ball that never made it to my end of the table so I suspect it was enjoyed. Crimson Watermelon - This isn't something I would want to eat but the ladies all said it was very good. The entrees followed a similar pattern with the Ahi Tuna being well received as was the Salmon although I considered it overdone. The Pork Ribeye was ridiculously tender and was probably the best dish although I found it incredibly salty. Three of us ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese and all agreed it was closer to Kugel and unfortunately it was disgusting. The pasta was obliterated into a pile of mush, and the dish had an odd, overly strong nutmeg, cinnamon taste to it that was a complete turn off. Value **** I don't know how this group charges what they do and are still able to make money, if you have ever been to George's you will know what I mean. The entire menu is well within reason although this charging for bread is a new thing I see popping up at restaurants. read more

DAAAMMMM! In days of COVID "knocking it out of the park" in the restaurant business can't be easy! More over, it is seldom accomplished. Nico clearly understands the nuances of fine dining. I enjoyed the crab cakes, particularly the permission Nico has given to the individual components of the entree to blend together- rather than relying on over spicing, searing, or bathing the cakes in an over powering sauce. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the pork- it was perfectly prepared with an understated au jus - HOME RUN again. Thank you Nico for a fabulous dinner. read more

Thursday was our first time at vintage BYOB but it won't be our last. The atmosphere was romantic and different from other places we have been in town. The food was great as were the portions and the service was excellent. We had Katie give great recommendations and when we ordered the goat cheese appetizer she let us know before walking away that it takes a few minutes longer than other appetizers so we wouldn't think she forgot about us which we thought was a great attention to detail she was very sweet and easy to talk to. We didn't realize that it was BYOB (our fault it's called vintage BYOB) and she gave us easy directions to a nearby liquor store and timed out appetizer perfect so my husband could run over after we ordered. She gave us many suggestions for other restaurants I could tell she is a passionate local Our water was always filled by not just katie but another young girl who seemed to be bus help and was also very nice we never had to ask for anything as the whole staff was attentive. We ordered the sea bass which melted in my mouth and the filet which had a subtle twist on your typical filet mignon while being true to what you want out of that cut of meat. I've been a little down on the CM dining scene recently. Many restaurants have exorbitantly high prices (low value even compared to similar markets), lackluster quality and spotty service standards. So I am a little reluctant to call out a great dinner experience at the risk of attracting too much attention. Great ambience outdoors with perfect weather and lighting. We've been here before. This time we brought a party of ten. Lena took care of us flawlessly. We ordered just about every appetizer to share and all disappeared fast with a special mention for the short rib flat bread. Timing was excellent and at the table's pace. The menu changes frequently. All entrees were excellent. While I am not looking for a take home box, all the entrees were delicious AND well portioned. This is Cape May's best kept secret restaurant! You can sit in the tent or under the canopies next to the beautiful gardens. The service is excellent and the food is superb. Nice outdoor seating under the tent, had the wild mushroom arancini balls which were delicious, the wife's salmon was cooked perfect but my sous Vide filet left a lot to be desired , wasabi hollandaise was inedible, the steak was cooked to the chefs preferred temperature which was supposed to be medium rare and was more on the rarer side and just a mushy blob of meat, definitely needed to have a quick sear to the meat. Will definitely return but will definitely not order the filet again. Service was excellent. read more
