Friendly, helpful, explained everything about the property I needed to know, acknowledged my status and offered my perks, etc... It was great! The room was excellent! A nice, quiet HVAC system that provided great temperature in the room my entire stay! The housekeeping provided daily was excellent too, and I pay attention to the little details - They hit them all! The TV in the room was great as it offered nice, interesting channels and so much selection!! Water pressure and drain in the shower was perfect. Bed comfort was perfect. I used the hotel's restaurant for breakfast and dinner several times during the stay and that was amazing! The only issue was self-parking - The lot is very small and tight. Overall, I loved the place, the grandeur, the beauty, the way they renovated to update and modernize what needed it was all excellent. Definitely highly recommend staying here!

But hey... we got the top floor and could see the Ferris wheel and directly into other spaces of the hotel. The bathroom- supposedly luxury towels but were extremely frayed and thin. The amenities were fine but not special. The toilet is separated by a frosted 1/4 wall... but yet provided no privacy. It did serve to hide the look of the toilet though if that was merely a design decision rather than customer experience choice. The lighting was subpar. The internet was non existent and tv.. not even the option to stream your own Netflix. Which we needed because there was nothing else to do in the hotel (besides drink at the bar or swim with the rowdy kids on the terrace level ... or whatever that was). I woke up so tired after sleeping in the hot room (turned temp down as far as it would go, and had to kick off all covers) Just awful. When going to bed by 9pm and waking at 7am I should've felt rested and renewed. It was absolutely not my experience, nor my daughters. Overall, it's not at all the worst place... but definitely not near the top of nicest either.

My first room, a standard room overlooking the Plaza, had a minor issue with the TV and telephone. I went back to the front desk, and without any hesitation or questions, they immediately moved me to another room, actually, a suite. What a lovely surprise! I enjoyed relaxing late at night, watching movies, and enjoying cauliflower pizza from Martin City Brewery, just a couple of blocks away. The bed was very comfortable, and the water temperature and pressure were perfect. I highly recommend The Raphael Hotel to anyone looking for a great stay on the Plaza.

I reserved a Plaza-view room via Marriott BonVoy. I am Gold Elite. However, upon check in, the only…read moreroom available was room 101. (You know it's bad when the front desk apologizes before you've even seen the room.) For Gold Elite, that's unacceptable -- that's a "walk in off the street" room. Just poor run of house management by the booking staff. Indeed, I walked around the corner from the front desk to find that the room was small, dated, didn't smell good, the "plaza view" was an up-close view of the valet stand, and the bed felt decades old. Any room in a Marriott "budget" property is better than that, never mind a so-called Autograph Collection property. I went back to the front desk to cancel the room, and miraculously in the five minutes since check-in, two other rooms had become available, but neither was a plaza view, though they offered to refund me the difference. I was considering whether I wanted to change rooms when, at that moment, I saw a man walk into the lobby, ushering someone I can only describe as a "lady of the evening" with him into the elevator. No subtlety at all -- that's the kind of property this is. I asked to speak to the manager on duty, but of course there was no manager on the property. No wonder it's the wild west at this place! I immediately declined the alternate room and cancelled my reservation. I appreciate the courteous assistance from Amy at the front desk, but this property is gross all the way around -- it needs a total tear-down/reno. It's an embarrassment as an Autograph property. Marriott has some work to do to acquire a truly high-end property in downtown KC.

I don't know KC super well, but would definitely say that Crossroads area a super solid spot to look into when traveling. It was surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, bars, etc. very local feel. The hotel itself has a very simple and rustic feel, but is still modern and artsy. They have local art from artists in the main areas, and the rooms are adorned with brick, wooden touches, really cool lighting, and super comfy beds. They have a mini bar and fridge in the rooms, which you can purchase items from. They also had local products for toiletries which I thought was really cool. The workout room isn't super extensive, but I lucked out and saw there was an Orangetheory 2 blocks away (my regular gym) so I walked there. Parking is street or VIP only. The staff were incredible and helpful, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here!

If you're looking for a hotel that won't add stress to your wedding weekend, look elsewhere. We…read morebooked Hotel KC because our friend's wedding was hosted there, and since we were driving up from Texas, we wanted to make things easier by staying at the venue. My boyfriend was one of the groomsmen, so his weekend was already packed. We checked into the hotel on Friday so we could help the bride and groom if needed. When we got to our room, I noticed the door didn't close all the way. I'm usually pretty cautious about hotels and Airbnbs, so I asked the front desk to fix it right away. My boyfriend had to leave for the rehearsal shortly after dropping off our luggage. A maintenance worker came quickly, but after 45 minutes, he removed the metal latch plate on the doorframe so the door would shut. I told him that didn't seem right and completely defeated the purpose of the lock, but he didn't speak English and was using Google Translate. He said it was a temporary fix and that the front desk would assist us later. The door did close, but it felt like anyone could easily break in. Since we had a busy schedule, we left for the rehearsal dinner around 6. After dinner, we returned and asked the front desk whether the door would be properly fixed that night or if we could switch rooms. The front desk agent said they had multiple weddings that weekend, so all rooms were booked and nothing was available. She also said, "Our hotel is very safe, nothing happens." That's not something you want to hear as a guest. If I'm paying for a room, I expect to feel safe, not wonder if I'll be the first to experience a problem, especially since I had multiple expensive camera gear with me. We insisted on having the door fixed before bed, so they sent an "engineer" upstairs. When we explained the issue, he told my boyfriend that the metal piece on the doorframe was just for "aesthetics." At that point, my boyfriend was pissed. He grabbed the room key and a plastic spoon, propped the door open in front of the engineer, and demonstrated the issue. The engineer ended up calling two more maintenance workers and told us to leave for our event while they worked on it. We had to go downstairs for a late-night meet-and-greet, so they stayed to fix the door... again. When we came back around 11:30 PM, someone was still working on it. They reinstalled the metal plate and told me to slam the door hard for it to close. We had to do it multiple times, at midnight, while our neighbors were sleeping. He said it was the best they could do since no other rooms were available. We were exhausted and just went to bed. Saturday morning, the day of the wedding, my boyfriend left at 8 AM for suit fitting and to get ready with the groom. He asked me to check with the front desk, and they said we could switch rooms, but not until around 3 PM (normal check-in time). I reminded them that the wedding would already be happening then, and they apologized for the inconvenience. They sent yet another maintenance worker around 9 AM, this time with a drill, loudly working on the door and frame. I couldn't stay in the room with that noise (video), so I ended up spending time in the groom's suite. It was frustrating to pay for a hotel and barely have any time to relax in the room. There were constantly maintenance workers coming in and out, and I never felt safe being there alone. They finally moved us to a new room at 1 PM, right in the middle of the bridal party photos around the hotel. I couldn't carry all our luggage myself, so my boyfriend had to help me while wearing his groomsman suit. After everything, the hotel never apologized for the inconvenience or offered any kind of compensation. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with their service. If this had been my wedding weekend, I would not have been this nice..
