I absolutely love this hotel. We've stayed here three times now and won't even consider going elsewhere when in Kansas City. The courtyard, the restaurant, the rooms, the comfy beds and linens, etc. It always feels like splurging when we're here.

Beautiful suite.... great property when in KC.

A simply old school elegant hotel. Founded over 100 years ago as a boarding house it's gone through many changes. But what I love is many of the original parts remain... tile in our bath, the mahogany in the lobby and other items around this grand dame. Staff is so good, Rick gave us the first tour.... but everyone from the valet (awesome) to the front desk just wanted to help. Our suite was the perfect size (room 302) and we could walk to so many shops and restaurants. Room service is back and we had breakfast included which helped. And delicious btw. The bar downstairs is called Chaz and it's a fantastic place to hear music and eat.... and drink great wine. All in all, I found my new hotel in KC!

Beautiful old school hotel near the country club plaza. Extremely courteous staff in all positions interacting with the customers, starting even before our arrival when I interacted due to our extremely late arrival. Tastefully decorated with sensible upgrades paired with old charm. We definitely enjoyed our weekend getaway. Only deduction due to mattress being in dire need of replacement.

The Raphael during the holiday season is such a treat! We stayed just after the New Year when the Country Club Plaza lights are still glowing and a plaza view room is magical. The hotel is gorgeous with modern amenities and old-world charm. All the staff is attentive and Chaz restaurant is a wonderful way to "stay in" and enjoy delicious food and live music without driving or walking anywhere on a snowy evening. Bring a bottle of red wine to enjoy (for a $25 corkage fee) with the Steak Diane and Black Forest German Chocolate Cake for dessert. Finish with a drink in the bar (they make a mean Manhattan) and live music (Wednesdays and Sundays). Our definition of a perfect date night, especially after the craziness of the holidays!

What an absolutely cute hotel. Now a Marriott but it is a historic hotel that has been updated. Amazing bar with craft cocktails right at the hotel. Polite bellmen and good coffee.

    Amenities, including earplugs.

This hotel DEFINES 5 star. From the moment you pull up, someone is there to open your door, take your bags and give you a delightful welcome. Guest check in made us feel like royalty and the staff takes great pride in explaining fun facts about the history of the hotel. It is old and beautiful, immaculately updated with the latest luxury. To make the night even better, I received an upgrade due to my Marriott status and it was truly an upgrade. Room 405 has a jetted tub, with separate tub/shower. The regular tub is so deep it could act be a soaker tub. Big comfy living area with squishy pillows and a large king bedroom. I travel a lot for business and I would normally say that there is no hotel better than home...until I stayed here. The hotel has little amenities you wouldn't think of, like earplugs, heated lamp in the bathroom, and the sofa in the bedroom for stretching out with a blanket and a good book. I had the most relaxing night after dinner soaking in the tub with a bottle of wine, Netflix and a comfy robe. I was sad to go and I can't wait to go back.

Really enjoyed my stay in this classic hotel. Originally built in 1927 as the Villa Serena Apartments, the building was converted to a hotel, opening as the Raphael in 1975. The rooms at a tad smaller that most Marriott property rooms, but that is to be expected in a historic old buIlding. My room was clean and cozy, and provided everything need for a comfortable two-night stay on this business trip to K.C. The individually packaged toiletries were much appreciated, and there were several not usually found in your average hotel room. The staff was also exceedingly polite and professional. The location is also ideal, as it is just a 3-minute walk from the historic Country Club Plaza shopping district, which is PACKED with countless stores and and high scale dining choices.

The internet was non existent and tv.. not even the option to stream your own Netflix. I don't know KC super well, but would definitely say that Crossroads area a super solid spot to look into when traveling. It was surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, bars, etc. very local feel. The hotel itself has a very simple and rustic feel, but is still modern and artsy. They have local art from artists in the main areas, and the rooms are adorned with brick, wooden touches, really cool lighting, and super comfy beds. They have a mini bar and fridge in the rooms, which you can purchase items from. They also had local products for toiletries which I thought was really cool. The workout room isn't super extensive, but I lucked out and saw there was an Orangetheory 2 blocks away (my regular gym) so I walked there. Parking is street or VIP only. Most importantly the bed and pillows were very comfortable! The hotel does allow pets so we did have a few on our floor and we could hear them while walking down the hallway but not once we closed the door to our room. We…read morebooked Hotel KC because our friend's wedding was hosted there, and since we were driving up from Texas, we wanted to make things easier by staying at the venue. My boyfriend was one of the groomsmen, so his weekend was already packed. We checked into the hotel on Friday so we could help the bride and groom if needed. When we got to our room, I noticed the door didn't close all the way. I'm usually pretty cautious about hotels and Airbnbs, so I asked the front desk to fix it right away. My boyfriend had to leave for the rehearsal shortly after dropping off our luggage. A maintenance worker came quickly, but after 45 minutes, he removed the metal latch plate on the doorframe so the door would shut. I told him that didn't seem right and completely defeated the purpose of the lock, but he didn't speak English and was using Google Translate. He said it was a temporary fix and that the front desk would assist us later. The door did close, but it felt like anyone could easily break in. Since we had a busy schedule, we left for the rehearsal dinner around 6. After dinner, we returned and asked the front desk whether the door would be properly fixed that night or if we could switch rooms. The front desk agent said they had multiple weddings that weekend, so all rooms were booked and nothing was available. She also said, "Our hotel is very safe, nothing happens." That's not something you want to hear as a guest. If I'm paying for a room, I expect to feel safe, not wonder if I'll be the first to experience a problem, especially since I had multiple expensive camera gear with me. We insisted on having the door fixed before bed, so they sent an "engineer" upstairs. When we explained the issue, he told my boyfriend that the metal piece on the doorframe was just for "aesthetics." At that point, my boyfriend was pissed. He grabbed the room key and a plastic spoon, propped the door open in front of the engineer, and demonstrated the issue. The engineer ended up calling two more maintenance workers and told us to leave for our event while they worked on it. We had to go downstairs for a late-night meet-and-greet, so they stayed to fix the door... again. When we came back around 11:30 PM, someone was still working on it. They reinstalled the metal plate and told me to slam the door hard for it to close. We had to do it multiple times, at midnight, while our neighbors were sleeping. He said it was the best they could do since no other rooms were available. We were exhausted and just went to bed. Saturday morning, the day of the wedding, my boyfriend left at 8 AM for suit fitting and to get ready with the groom. He asked me to check with the front desk, and they said we could switch rooms, but not until around 3 PM (normal check-in time). I reminded them that the wedding would already be happening then, and they apologized for the inconvenience. They sent yet another maintenance worker around 9 AM, this time with a drill, loudly working on the door and frame. I couldn't stay in the room with that noise (video), so I ended up spending time in the groom's suite. It was frustrating to pay for a hotel and barely have any time to relax in the room. There were constantly maintenance workers coming in and out, and I never felt safe being there alone. They finally moved us to a new room at 1 PM, right in the middle of the bridal party photos around the hotel. I couldn't carry all our luggage myself, so my boyfriend had to help me while wearing his groomsman suit. After everything, the hotel never apologized for the inconvenience or offered any kind of compensation. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with their service. If this had been my wedding weekend, I would not have been this nice..

We used to drive up from Wichita where we lived and I remember staying there with my parents when we flew my mother out at the time Garth Brooks played the T-Mobile center. It's always been a good hotel and they don't miss much however this time there were a few things that were irritating. When you arrive to the hotel, you must go in and check in before you can park in the garage. However, the rear entrance to the hotel is locked even though the sign says the door is open from 6 AM to 10 PM. Calling the front desk on the intercom system was of no use because they cannot unlock the door remotely. Also checking in on the Hilton app does not grant you a virtual key until you check in at the front desk. So you cannot park your car or enter the hotel from a convenient entrance until you go around front and park in the valet space to go inside and register. It's a silly and frustrating exercise every time. However, usually the back door is not locked. Our room was very nice, but the AC didn't seem to cool very well we were both very warm and sweaty while trying to sleep in early April. The icing on the cake was House Keeping tapping on our door with a key card 2 1/2 hours before check out to see if they could come in while we were still sleeping and we had the do not disturb sign on the door. We were not amused. There is no ace machine on the second floor, so don't stay there if you want ice. In the back of the hotel, there was an electric scissor lift parked under the fire escape, prohibiting the stairs from coming down to the ground. I'm not a fire marshal, but I'm pretty sure that's a huge violation. However, both Richie and Tyler working at the front desk, were the bright spots of the stay along with Jennifer, the bartender in the Drum Room. Richie and Tyler apologized for the shortcomings and gave us some coupons to try to make things right. We appreciated the gesture. I know local management isn't responsible for the shortcomings of the Hilton HHonors app, but they are responsible for training their staff.

Hard to tell sometimes if this is a hotel or a modern art gallery. - Building definitely feels repurposed but in a good way. Architecture works (this can cut both ways however) - Staff was very accommodating to my needs. Even did an easier room change without my asking - Nice bar area. Ray the bartender was good conversation. Cons: - The parking is definitely concern. Valet service necessary or street parking is a dice roll. Runs an additional $24 - One of the bigger downsides is you can really hear the street if you're on that side of the building. If you're a light sleeper, it will be an issue. - Not the flashiest hotel in the area. Shorter building and not as great views (nit pick) - $18 for a beer and one mixed drink. Ouch!! I would also recommend revisiting the policies for when guests receive deliveries. I have no idea where customer service went in the last few years but I received a very important delivery of medical supplies and the staff could not only not find it but I was not notified and nobody offered to bring it to my room, once it was finally found, a second delivery had already been issued and we were told the "fee would be waived" when it should've been found the first time. There is definitely room for improvement to take this place to the next level. When I told the front desk about the mold, they offered for me to change rooms but since I was leaving the next morning, didn't want the hassle but there was no apology or any offer of anything else for my troubles as a bonvoy member I may stay here again if there's a work event but I will inspect the rooms closely and expect better as the area is booming
