This is a must stop when you are in Anna Marie Island, Florida. Hometown Desserts is my go-to place to get the best cake and desserts. Hometown Desserts are best known for their Key Lime Coconut cake. The cake is moist and has a light fluffy key like flavor. The frosting is fluffy and filled with sweet coconut. This place is super cute and has unique flavors... coconut keylime cake and (my favorite) orange cream cake. I struggled to not wolf it down. We got our wedding cake from here in 2015 and have enjoyed the treats from here any chance we get! If you are visiting Anna Maria Island, the store is located on Pine Ave, it's pretty much AMI's "Main Street". The shop is cute and serves a pretty good coffee as well. My wife is a big fan of the key lime pie and the coconut cake is my favorite. The mix of tropical flavors and a moist cake or creamy pie make for a perfect vacation sweet treat! read more

We stopped in because of all of the great reviews and were glad we did! We had to try a few items so we got the Key Lime pie, Key Lime coconut cake, a bourbon pecan pie bar and a salted caramel praline brownie. I really wanted to try the cake first so we did lol. It was so yummy! Moist but not wet if that makes sense. Great flavor and understand why so many love it! The key lime pie was the best we had while visiting. Both the bar and brownie were delicious too! Service was awesome as well. The ladies there were so nice and even gave us lunch suggestions to try. We'll definitely be back if we ever return to the island! Give them a try! You'll be glad you did!! read more

Cute shop - I was looking for gluten free deserts. Unfortunately this is not a place I would recommend for it. Texture is super weird and extremely dry. We had a gluten free vanilla and chocolate. At one cold and one we sat it for a bit and both were extremely crumbly and dry. read more

We stopped in this morning to have pie/cake for breakfast because we're on vacation! Based on other reviews, we got a slice of key lime pie and a slice of coconut lime cake. I'm going to start with the cake. My husband loves coconut, but isn't a huge sweets person. He devoured the cake in minutes!!! I'm not a huge coconut fan, but had to try a taste for research purposes of course. LOL! The cake was moist with a nice balance of coconut and lime flavors. Not overly sweet. Delicious! The key lime pie was also 5 stars in my book! Tart but not puckery tart...just right...almost like a lime custard or curd on top of a delicate graham cracker crust. Mmmm!!! The only think I would have done differently is visit this cute shop earlier in my trip so I could have eaten more pie! Check it out, you won't be disappointed! 5 Stars for their incredible Coconut layer cake I had the pleasure of trying at Beach House restaurant. Again- I haven't been to this location, but I was dining at Beach House down on Anna Maria and they highly recommended the coconut layer cake. Our table devoured it and even got another serving to-go for later. We were blown away by the rich and moist texture as well as the fresh coconut flavor. When we asked about it, our server let us know the cakes were made locally by Hometown Desserts and that they were a definite fan-favorite. Besides that, he said he loved them so much that he and his wife had them make their wedding cake! I never went here before going cake tasting. After meeting Cindy and getting our wedding cake (and other sweets) from Hometown Desserts, I have to come here on every visit to get a slice of Key Lime Coconut Cake. I'm still not a big coconut cake fan and the only place I get coconut cake is here because it's the best. What a great bakery! I was vacationing with my sisters in Anna Maria Island, and I had planned on baking a cake, but there was no room in my suitcase for everything I would need to make it, so I found Hometown Desserts online and called to ask if she could make a cake, and I would do my own decorations. Cindy was so helpful, and made the most amazing 3 layer raspberry vanilla truffle cake. I had to admit that it was much better than any cake I have ever made. She used a lovely cream cheese frosting and raspberry between the layers, and a really delicious lightly sweet whipped cream frosting on the outside. The cake was a hit. My wife read some reviews and "made me" take her . She had the Coconut Cake and I had this delicious Key Lime Coconut Cake (sorry - I ate it before it I took a picture). Both were very fresh and tasty. We also got flavored iced coffee, which was perfect for a hot day. This place is a little bit hidden, but well worth looking for. Enjoy! read more

We came in from NY and had 3 Birthdays we were celebrating. Came in on a Monday afternoon. Shop was so cute. Displaycases stocked with all ki ds of goodies. We were able to grab a Strawberry Cake fron in if the cases. They personalized it quickly. It was SO delicious. Everyone loved it. So moist and the frosting was overly sweet. Just right. Had to stop by and try Hometown Desserts. It is a very cute quaint shop in Anna Maria Island. I chose their key lime coconut cake to go. We had it the next day and it was super moist and had a perfect mix of key lime and coconut. They also have a nice selection at the Anna Maria Island General Store. Just in case Hometown Desserts is closed go there. Definitely, this is one of those must stop places when on AMI! read more

Everything we've tried so far has been delicious! We sampled their cake truffles when we stopped in, the chocolate and lime were our favorites. Brought home slices of key lime coconut and strawberry cake. Both were very good but the key lime coconut is the clear favorite in this household! In the few minutes we were there, 2 customers came in to buy their whole key lime pies. So we have 2 slices of their key lime pie to try, too! read more

The raspberry sorbet, coffee crunch, and Cookie Monster were all raved about, but it was my Pralines and Cream that shocked me as the best I've ever had. At the end of the day, Handels is still my front runner and will be difficult to beat as many have tried and come close. But Two Scoops has made its mark in our travels and couldn't recommend it more.

The eggplant and zucchini ratatouille paired really good with the pesto and the mashed potatoes, and the star of the show was the fish, cooked really well and seasoned very nicely (got it blackened). I will have to come back and update my review once I do. The place looks eclectic but it works! It also has a small gift shop at the entrance which is a good option if needed.

The cupcakes and cappuccinos were a real treat - the cupcakes were moist, perfectly sweetened, and beautifully decorated, while the cappuccinos were expertly crafted, offering the perfect blend of rich coffee and smooth froth. I can't thank Cindy and Hometown Desserts enough for the incredible cake and bite-sized desserts they created for our wedding. Choosing them was an easy decision because I grew up eating their infamous Coconut Key Lime Cake, and having one for our special day made it even more meaningful. I also have to add that she closed the place at around 9:40 pm -20 minutes to closing time. I am saying this noting that the opening time is noted with a red marker on a masking tape, changing the opening time from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This information needs to be updated on the website, since people rely on the internet to get this information. I know someone might say that I should be reviewing the food (that is what the two stars are for), BUT customer service is a part of the experience, especially in a touristy place like Anna Maria.
