Katie from hometown furniture was rude. She did all she could to stay in her seat behind the desk and not come help my family. The 3rd time asking, she finally came and answered some questions. Then got an attitude with my husband when he asked if they negotiate price. made rude remarks about my kids. Classles, Poor customer service. Maybe something in her life makes her deflect her misery onto others. Either way, it's unfortunate to have had such a poor experience. We drove out there on our day off specifically to visit this store. We 100% were ready to purchase a sectional we found, until she snapped at my husband when he tried to negotiate 100 off. I bought a Lazyboy couch and loveseat and within first year frame broke. Warranty covered both but it took months to get a repair person out to my home and get parts to fix the bent frame. The stores answer was always your not the only customer. In the 3rd year after the new parts being replaced it happens again. I have no children at home or pets. I called in March did'nt get repaired till June, because I'm told your not the only customer. Now I haveto pay for labor. Repair man charged $60 to look to see whatI needed and ordered parts. I called to dicuss why it happed again and is there possibly problem with design. Hometown dismissed me and Lazyboy was worse. Parts come and repair man comes late and runs into a problem, lazyboy refabricated the design of the frame and reclining mechanismism. As I continually tried to say. The repair guy couldn't finish the job that day because he did not order all parts needed w new design. So he told he would come back when it comes in. 1 week later when the parts arriveed I'm told he has to go to a competition for his child and couldn't finish the repair till another 5-6 days and my sofa is totally pulled apart and all parts all over in family room. I asked please not do this to me. The sales person called to tell me how horrible that I am that he has to miss his childs event. I was told about the event the night before he was coming and he knew months ahead about the event and I knew nothing. After repair I paid him $780.00 200 of it was to unzip cushion and put two new cushions in.Which I was never told my husband was there and he never either. I will NEVER buy from HOMETOWN FURNITURE or LAZYBOY for sure. read more

Once again it's time to purchase another couch or two. Our current (La-Z-Boy) couches are just three years old, the most expensive couches we've purchased and are major disappointment. Luckily Hometown sells many different brands and they had on the floor a sectional with a chaise that my wife immediately fell in love with. We lucked into a sale, no sales tax with free delivery too. The sales staff (the owner) was knowledgeable and showed us the construction of the furniture that we ordered. The frame is made out of solid wood vs. the OSB that La-Z-Boy uses along with differences in the foam and springs. The standard warranty is also longer than the one on our current couches, even with purchasing the extended warranty. The only downside is almost a six month wait due to COVID for the furniture to be built and delivered. We are looking forward to our new furniture being delivered and (hopefully) being able to update the review and add a 4th . read more

Ordered furniture and was told it would take 4-6 weeks and it didn't come for over 8 weeks. I think that is a ploy to buy from them since most other furniture stores appeared to give us a more realistic estimate for delivery. At the time of the purchase, my wife and I found the same couch elsewhere at a cheaper price but Hometown promised we would receive it two weeks earlier. We called three weeks in a row for a status update on the furniture and every time we called we got a different answer. Delay in shipping due to weather (made sense because of the polar vortex), broyhill didn't have a piece to finish putting the couch together (really, broyhill) and broyhill was acquired by another company so everything is just slower (not far fetched). Not sure what it was, if any at all. To top it all off, the delivery staff really did a job on my trim trying to get the furniture downstairs. You may think, well, this often happens but our furniture came in six pieces (Veronica) so it's not like they were trying to get a couch that was put together into my basement. My trim is all torn up. For a small local business, you would think they would try to differentiate themselves from competitors through service. Well, I haven't reviewed a call from them asking if I enjoy my furniture or to ensure the delivery was hassle or damage free. Buyer beware. On the bright side, the furniture is nice but they don't build the furniture. read more

This has got to be the worst customer service experience I've had at a furniture store. My wife and I were in the store for over 15 minutes and nobody ever acknowledged that we were there. Drove from sycamore Illinois all the way down there to Plainfield just to visit their furniture store. We were very disappointed, not much furniture on display, nobody ever acknowledged the fact that we were there too busy standing behind the counter talking to each other and gabbing. Do not recommend this store to anybody. read more

I bought pretty much all of my furniture from Hometown Furniture. They have great deals and their products are much better than anything from Value City or The Roomplace. I purchased a sofa and loveseat that were made by La-z-boy and I paid much less than I would have at their gallery. The quality appears to be the same as I would expect from the manufacturer. I've had them almost 2 years and not a single issue. I changed my mind on the coffee table and end tables that I ordered and they took them back and gave me store credit for the full amount (without restocking fee). One of the items I purchased was damaged from shipping. When the delivery guys took it out of the box, they noticed it was damaged and ordered a replacement. The replacement came about 4 weeks later as promised. The staff is helpful and not pushy or in your way. They are there to answer questions and help find what you want. They have a ton of different designer catalogs. If they have a promotion going on anything you order in the catalogs can be purchased at the promotional discount. Shipping was pretty much 6-8 weeks as promised for all of my orders. You really can't beat the prices or quality of furniture. I'll definitely be going back to Hometown. read more

I have never been to a furniture store with kinder owners. Russ and his salesperson Leslie were very good to me. They know their stuff -- they could answer any question I had and were able to recommend a perfect living room set for my home. I will also say that Russ had the best prices my husband and I had seen anywhere and we left feeling like we were going to be taken care of if any problems arise. I prefer to keep local stores in business so that's why I went to Hometown to begin with. I bought a sofa without seeing the actual color. The owner was working behind the desk and could only show me a picture of the color I was ordering. (nobody was on the floor to help me)When I received the furniture it looked nothing like the color in the picture.. they offered me a store credit or a refund with a pretty large restocking fee. We wish we never kept it, it is a very neutral color.. so we thought we could do something with it.. it ended up just being too dark. the problem with the store they had no samples for this sofa. It just keeps bothering me how they tried to tell me the pic looked the same color. The good thing about Hometown Furniture is the staff are very friendly. And will immediately get back to you online or on the phone to answer any questions. read more

Tried to support a small business during the pandemic; however, we were very disappointed with our experience. We ordered a dining table set with an "estimated" delivery date of 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks passes, and we haven't heard from the store, so we followed up. They informed us something was backordered, but it should be shipping out the next week. A few weeks pass again with no communication, so we called the store again. We were then told it had actually just shipped out the week before and delivery was taking anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks passes, we had not heard anything once again. We called the store and they said yes it did ship and delivery is taking about 6 weeks. So we waited a couple of more weeks and still had no table and no communication from the store. We called the store and they said it should be here any day, but they hadn't heard from their trucking company yet. 4 and a half months after we ordered, we finally got the call that our table set was in. A week later, we got the table delivered but not without issue. They showed up within the time slot; however, discovered they had forgotten to pack something in the truck, so they had to go back to the store and come back to our house now after our time slot. Very frustrating experience as we were told multiple different delivery times that didn't end up being true. Really, the store has no idea when something will be delivered, and they can't get updates. The customer has to be the one to initiate contact, which ends up being pointless because the store doesn't have any tracking on items you purchase from them. If we had known this when we were shopping for our table set, we would have gone somewhere that could provide more reliable information to their customers. All we got from them was a thank you for your patience and thank you for your understanding. Understand the pandemic is affecting multiple industries, but customer service could have been stronger. read more

Beat our expectations - outdid the big stores. We visited half a dozen of the big name stores in the area, found what we liked most, negotiated for their best deal, walked out, went to Hometown and they beat their competitor's negotiated price by far. We needed to be patient for delivery and it came in 6 weeks (promised 6-8 wks). We were not charged for delivery and they even took our old furniture for free. The owner was very pleasant. I went here looking for a rocker/recliner. My wife was 7 months pregnant at the time. I was told I could pay for it and it would arrive January 11. That date came and went and I never received a call. So after waiting for an extra 2 weeks I finally decided to call. I was told sorry it looks like your order was delayed, and it would not be ready until the 11th of Feb. They offered me free deliver for the inconvenience. At this point I was pretty frustrated. My wife was now 8 months pregnant, and physical activities were starting to become strenuous for her. I didn't want to put wife through the process of trying out a bunch of different chairs until she finds one she likes again so I decided to not cancel my order. So it is now Feb 11 and still no chair. We called and we were told sorry it's delayed. I cancelled my order and told them in a pretty nice way to get their shit together. At this point the lady over the phone said that they handled the situation in the best possible way and that my expectation were completely unreasonable. I didn't want to argue in my then current state of mind so I just went ahead with the cancellation process. Now I have take my wife who is giving birth any day now chair shopping.
